- Soda
Looks like I'm the bad boy of he bunch. I had a soda about 6-8 weeks post op. a Dr. Pepper, not even diet. I didn't even wait for the carbonation to die off, just opened it up & started sipping. Well, to be honest, I burped a few times, then wondered why I ever liked those things. Really they are simply too sweet to me anymore.- What's next?
Next is a trip to the US so all the guys can go nuts over your sexy new body ant extremely hot Aussie accent, while you just kick back and enjoy all he well deserved attention.- Horror Story
I fail to see where Iggy has been a bully at all. Yes, she has an opinion of the surgery that is tainted by her experience, but I believe all our experiences have influenced our opinions. Yes, she posts her views often. There is nothing keeping anybody from posting about their experiences right along side of hers. Really, the only limitations placed on these type of posts are basic common courtesy. Things like don't personally attack each other & don't be offensive just to get a reaction. I will admit, I am a bit partial to Iggy, partially because I was here to witness the hardship she went through, and see how level headed & non judgmental she remained as she was going hrough the whole ordeal. And really, if I would have gone through 1/2 of what she did, I'd be telling anybody that even considered WLS that it's the worst decision they could make. Fortunately for me, my experience was quite the opposite, as is true for most of he people here. The overwhelming majority of us have had great experiences, it's not Iggy's fault if we don't say it enough. I come here and support people in their decisions. As do most people that are more than a couple months post op. I ask of everybody, if you believe this forum has an overbearing dark feeling to it, bring in some light. Tell your good stories. If someone tells of a bad experience, put yourself in their shoes for a minute, and ask yourself how you would act if you had their experience. Attacking someone for posting advice based on their bad experience is not going to make this a better place, it will simply push more people away. Here is another thing to consider. This forum needs people like Iggy. Without her, or other people like her, what would we have? A forum full of positivity? Absolutely not. We'd have a site that anybody coming here would think s a contrived promotional tool. Showing the good & the bad together is a big part of what lends validity to our little community here. I truly hope we can all just accept each other for who we are, and let go of whatever animosity we might be holding within. This is a great place to come to, and it will continue to be.- don't let anyone fool you. recovery is awful.
Unfortunately, though for most of us recovery very mild, for some there is some pain. All I can say right now is tomorrow will be better, and the next day will be even better than tomorrow. Barring any complications, a week from now your biggest problems will be head hunger and making sure to get all your liquids. I know it doesn't make sense right now, but in a month today will actually be a fond memory. This is the beginings of your new, much improved life.- Greys Anatomy!
Dammit, now I gotta wait for the new episode to hit the iPad.- Climbing Trees
Well, I spent last weekend trimming trees in my yard. I never thought that I'd be climbing trees again at 40 years old, but there I was 40 feet in the air with a chainsaw topping trees. Unfortunately I didn't think of it being something to be excited about or proud of till I was already back on the ground, so I didn't get any pictures, but I can honestly say I would have never even attempted it 100lbs ago. This surgery is finding new ways to pay for itself. I figure I saved almost $3k in arborist fees this weekend. Got some great exercise too. It's amazing the muscles I forgot I had. I'm remembering them now though.- Incision scars
After almost 9 months I'd say don't spend a bunch of money on magic creams or lotions. Staying well hydrated & nourish your body properly and time will do the work. All I've really used is cheap stuff. I have a jar of "Utterly Smooth" utter cream that I bought last winter for my hands. I've used it a couple times a week on my incisions and they are fairly unnoticeable now. I'd imagine if I'd used it daily they'd be nearly undetectable by now.- In before the newbies take it over

The PDCAAS is the standard at which Protein quality is rated. The fact is that collagen/gelatin is a horrible source of protein. I'm sure your doctor is a great person' date=' and gas good intentions, however in this case he/she is wrong. I don't take specific nutritional advice from doctors, just as I didn't go to a nutritionist to perform my surgery. The PDCAAS's score ranges from 0.000 to 1.000. The best score possible being 1.000 The following is a PDCAAS chart so you can see the score for yourself. Also note there is no PER score for collagen. This is because it is such a poor quality protein source that the PER can't even score it.- Greek yogurt-dumping syndrome
the "wacko" was an emoticon that showed up as text. Happens a lot around here.- Ok, might have to turn in my man card for asking this....
You really shouldn't leave an opening like that- confused with Tijuana drs. cabrera garcia; fernando garcia; dr kelly help
Dr. Kelly quit using outside coordinators about April last year. He started having his wife & an in house coordinator. However I suspected when he started that as a practice that it wouldn't be a permanent arrangement. A good coordinator is very hands on & worth their weight in gold. So it wouldn't surprise me if he were employing coordinators again.- Alcohol Abuse
Scotty, bro, you need help. Alcoholism is not uncommon after WLS, many of us are food addicts, and when we can't medicate with food some of us tur to alchohol. In your case, you had this problem before WLS, so the reality is you are compounding one addiction on top of another. I know AA doesn't sound like the most appealing thing, but you need some friends that do not drink a sponsor would be a great help too. Someone that understands where you are at & will take your call at anytime. I'd really hate to see you go through all this to get your life back just to throw it all away. Thats not even mentioning how your drinking affects the people you love. Do yourself a favor get the help you need. We can encourage you and offer advice on weight loss side, but, you really need someone who understands where you are with the alchohol. Best wishes.- Which surgery would you have first?
I need knee surgery. That was one of my motivating factors in getting the sleeve. I didn't want to go through knee surgery just to damage it again by putting all that weight on it. Plus recovery is so much easier when you are not severly overweight.- confused with Tijuana drs. cabrera garcia; fernando garcia; dr kelly help
When dis Dr Kelly start using coordinators again?- Chia seeds
Same thing.- loosing slow... 40 lbs in 5 mos
Lol. At 5'7" a BMI of 24.9 (high end of normal) is achieved at 159lbs. With a SW of 199 you carry 40lbs excess body weight. Having list 24 lbs you have lost 60% of your excess body weight. Additionally normal BMI ranges from 18.0- 24.9 So at 5'7" a normal range is from 116-159. Keep in mind that the BMI is a pretty rough tool. And I personally believe that the low end is a bit too low, but that is what the "standard" is.- loosing slow... 40 lbs in 5 mos
Ok, using your numbers. 5'8" a normal BMI starts at 164lbs Starting at 275 you had 111lbs of excess body fat. By losing 40lbs, you have lost 36% of your excess body weight. For 4 months, I'd say 36% is very acceptable. Remember, this is most often an 18month plan. You've gotten off to a good start. Just keep working the plan. You are doing fine.- Ok, might have to turn in my man card for asking this....

I'd recommend diet Sierra Mist Natural if you are going to do a clear soda, but my preferred treatment for nausea is a drop or 2 of real peppermint oil on the back of your tongue. Works every time.- Chia seeds
They are the seeds of the chia plant. Remember the "chia pet"? They are considered a superfood and are very high in antioxidants. However their primary purpose for us is to control constipation. They absorb Water & retain it all the way through the digestive track. And they are high Fiber.- Wonder Slim Products

I have not tried them, I looked into some of their "fruit juice" Protein drinks and found collagen in them so at that point I simply lost interest in them as a provider for any of my health needs. - Soda
