Sleeve vs. lapband
- So many Dr's in Mexico!…help!
My recommendation would be to check out Dr. Ponce de Leon. He operates out of the INT hospital in TJ Mexico. I will be the first to admit, I am a bit partial to him & Trish. They took great care of me. There are many highly qualified surgeons in Mexico, & I don't regularly give recommendations, but with what you said you wanted, I believe Dr. Ponce de Leon best fits what you want. Granted, he is not the lowest priced surgeon in Mexico, but his rate is more than fair. One thing you need to consider is your coordinator. Trish is the only one I know that is actually there when you arrive, helps you get settled in, makes sure you are well served while you are in Mexico, and even checks on you after you get home (I still hear from her after 11 months). With Dr. Ponce de Leon, you can expect, a highly competent surgeon, 2nights in the INT Hospital, 1 night in the Lucerna hotel (2nd nights are available if requested), the nicest resort hotel in TJ. And don't forget, Trish, she makes this whole thing so much easier. Last I checked his rate was still $5500.- NSV shout outs

Just FYI, there are several American Docs that will sleeve under under 30 BMI. The reason you don't see it often is because insurance won't cover it, and most self payers will find "better" options.- PEOPLE WHO ONLY DID 3 day liquid pre op diet

I'd recommend really looking harder at plication. Many of the original assumptions about plication have proven to be in error. Plication was originally thought to be reversible, real cases have proven otherwise. The folded portion of the stomach has a tendency to grow together therefore making it irreversible. Another misconception is that plication is safer or has less propensity for complications. Reality is that it is long term a riskier surgery. The aforementioned folds that grow together also tend to necrosify(die), also there have been multiple occasions there the sutures that have also torn the stomach. Another thing to consider is that with plication the fundus still exists and can further stretch. Additionally as you referred to grehlin production is not altered through plication. Lastly consider the fact that while the sleeve is gaining in popularity & becoming more common, many surgeons are ceasing to offer plication as an option.- PEOPLE WHO ONLY DID 3 day liquid pre op diet
I think we can all have differing opinions without being disrespectful to each other...... Can't we? There are a few posts in this thread that are completely uncalled for. Please think about what you post, posting inflammatory statements or taking pot shots at another member accomplishes nothing except calling attention to yourself.- I think im excited. ;)

Nope' date=' well, a glass of Water while I was waiting but nothing after the food arrived Good, I still have plenty of restriction. Salads definitely are easier to eat than dense Proteins. Definitely my new normal. Pre-op there would have been no salad. It would have been calamari followed followed by 2 bowls of zuppa toscan with breadsticks, then steak marsala finished up witha slice of cheesecake. Don't forget 4glasses of peach tea.
