  1. I work for the drs that implant pacemakers and defibs and it's called dermabond. Super awesome stuff! I tell our patients to gently wash it with soap and Water and when it starts to dry it will peel like dry skin an at that point you can start to peel it off. That is usually at their 2 week wound check up. Most of the time I'm peeling the strips off for them. I have my surgery on Tuesday and I have full intentions of keeping it on until it peels! Just a piece of advice from some education on the inside! Good luck y'all! Hope it helps and hope no one gets infections!!!
  2. I've been jumping through all the hoops of what my insurance asks b/c they are covering my surgery %100!!! (I know...wow!!). Since 12/11. My surg is 7/10....I still think wow...this is really happening!!! Holy cow! It happened so fast!!! No matter how much time we have to prep ourselves...when our moment comes and we are looking our future in the eyes at our defining moment....I know for me, these last 8 months flew by! Good luck y'all!
  3. I agree with all y'all!! My biggest determination.......and my hold my breath moment.....will be looking sexy as hell in my cowgirl boots!!! Not being so insecure about getting on the dance floor and people starring at me because I'm knocking them out with my American thighs....not because I'm the biggest girl out there!!! That will be my moment!!! July 10th can't be here soon enough!!!
  4. I am having my surgery on Tuesday 7/10 and I'm in my pre-op diet. I hear a lot about how y'all are on a liquid pre-op diet. My Dr is having us do the Atkins diet for 2 weeks before surgery. This way it shrinks the liver allowing him more room to lift it out of the way to get to the stomach. Is this the same with the liquid diet? Does it have ye same effect? I did very well today. ....my sister made sure there was food for me. Had some chicken and some squash. It is not easy to curb the cravings I have and it is def not easy to cut out the snacking. But I'm making it! I think the hardest part about this diet over the holiday weekend was I couldn't have an ice cold beer.....BUT the rewards will be so much greater than the short term satisfaction!
  5. Surgery on 7/10. Austin Tx area. I am looking for someone to help with encouragement, kind words and who has "been there, done that". I am starting to get nervous! What if I fail? After all that's why I need Lapband.....all other diets have failed. *sigh*.
  6. I am also doing the pre op diet. My surgery is 7/10. If I need flavor to my chicken I just squirt a little bit of lemon on it and some pepper. It works. I can't stand plain, dry chicken
  7. Yeah the Dr said I have to be on the Atkins diet for 2 weeks prior to surg. This way my liver will shrink and there will be more room to work and I won't have as much swelling
  8. Me too! Looks like July 10th for me! I am starting to really get excited! A little nervous for the 2 week pre-op diet. Don't know if I will be able to handle it! After all that's why I need the Lapband!
