  1. I'm not quite four weeks out, I have very little energy and was also wondering when the freaking swelling would go down? my stomach? OMG it's like I'm carrying twins!
  2. I was wondering what you ladies did about the bumpies after surgery, how early did you start wearing Spanx or other smoothing garments? I'm three weeks post-op and need a little camo...is it too early? I would not wear the super tight ones.
  3. Thanks ladies! I knew I wasn't alone
  4. Silly question, but it came to mind as I was happily enjoying a piece of gum today. What if I accidentally swallowed it??? Would it get stuck? cause any harm?

    What About Gum???

Leave it to me to think of this LOL! yeah I think I will be staying away from gum.
  6. Welcome! and congratulations on your band and the weight loss!

    A Oneserst Party

Go you! That's awesome, and what a great way to celebrate!
  9. Welcome and congrats!
  10. You're doing something good for YOU, anyone who can't be supportive should just shut it. Easier said than done, I know. You will prove them all wrong:) I have not told many people about my surgery, basically my immediate family, 2 co-workers and my 2 best girlfriends. People can react negatively out of fear for you, it IS surgery after all, they also can react out of envy/jealousy and just good ole ignorance about the band. Hang in there, and stay around here...this site has offered me a lot of information and much needed support.

    Gasx ?

After a week I went from the strips to chewable GasX. A heating pad works wonders too.
  13. I was banded the same day as you were, I get hungry occasionally but if I've already eaten what I should...I pop open a protein drink, or have sugar-free Jell-O. In scared of over eating, it's not easy but you can do it.

    Protein

What are some protein rich foods I can eat 2 weeks post-op?

    Self Pay And Pre-Op

    Ditto here.
  16. Danna, I am 2 weeks out, feeling some of the same things you're feeling. My surgeon is Dr. Carter at True Results, I went to one of the support meetings they offer a few weeks before my surgery and it really helped. I'm looking forward to going again If you need a buddy count me in!

    Newbie From Dfw

Welcome!! I'm in DFW as well, banded 2 weeks ago by Dr. Carter.
  18. I'm two weeks out, I have not had that feeling but I've heard it is pretty common. The P.A. even mentioned it to me today. I'm sure one of the many knowledgeable posters will answer your questions, and we'll both know

    New To Forum...pre-Op

Mine would not pay, I went the self-pay way. I got my band with True Results in Ft. Worth/Hurst. Good luck, and you've taken a good step by coming here, this site is amazing!
  20. I made a list of things that have nothing to do with how I will look, because that is just icing on the cake. Not taking or reducing my Meds. for Diabetes Feeling good and healthy No back pain Sleeping better Being physically strong What about you all?
  21. Day four here, I also have the painful side but it's manageable. I have not vomited, but did feel nauseated and had the urge to vomit a few times a day the first three days, I realized I was not taking my pain meds. with a "meal", so I started taking them with a few sips of my Protein Drink and it's been fine since then. I finally felt hungry last night, it took me a while to identify it though because there is so much stuff going on in my stomach, pain, discomfort, burning...so at 3a.m. I had my husband make me a half cup of chocolate Protein, and my tummy was very happy.
  22. I'm 4 days post-op today. The gas pain...OH THE GAS PAIIIIIN!!!!! Can't desribe how awful it was when I woke up in the recovery room. It's gotten better, and it is still the only heavy pain I've had. Everytime I move too much, getting in/out of bed I do get that burning pain on the lower left side of my stomach, but it goes away quickly. Good luck to all of you getting banded this week!!!

    Left Shoulder Pain

I was also banded on June 20th, a heating pad helps me a lot, and so do the Gas-X strips. The nurse also told me to put my arms up over my head, swiching arms every 5 seconds, and that works for me too.
