  1. Get the small pkgs of the Walmart brand of sugar free Jello. Its 20 cals and 4gr protein! Mix it IP according to the directions AND DRINK IT! warm liquids are more satiating than cold drinks or food. It has saved me from cheating many times! Get the wm brand because it has half of the calories as the brand name! Save cals and change, win/win lol

Cissie ~ I was so tickled when I saw this. Brings back good memories: My daughters granny taught us this so long ago. I'm on day one of 2week preop diet, I have stocked up from Walmart and plan to have a warm cup this pm as a treat.

I'm pretty excited to say that my family is following the diet w me for the next two weeks as well. It helps so much!!!

Very happy that I found this thread. It's nice to have others that understand exactly what you're going through!

  2. Congrats for having the courage to step forward and "own" your behavior.

You definitely aren't a failure. You're coping with stress and bad feelings the way you used to do. And you're learning a hard lesson about 1) what makes us overweight in the first place (our brains' date=' not our stomachs) and 2) how easy it is to eat around the sleeve if you're determined.

The good news is while your behavior isn't healthy on any level, you did avoid putting on a significant amount of weight. Thank goodness for the sleeve, right? And you're also aware of what you need to do, instead of hiding in denial until you gain ten pounds. This is good.

The first step is to stop every time you go to eat something. Start evaluating why you eat and when. This can help you curb emotional eating, a habit you must break to remain successful long term.

Get that junk out of your house if possible. Go back to basics and you can do this. Atkins induction is a great way, and any diet BlackBerryJuice is following will be great, too. Having a "buddy" to do it with might help you stick with it, too.

Keep your chin up during the last twenty pounds, too. It took me six whole months to shed the last twenty pounds. They go slowly. Hopefully not as slowly for you as they did for me! But hang in there.

You are definitely not a failure. You've simply reverted to ingrained habits as a way to cope with a stressful situation. A lot of us stumble along our journey but as long as you learn something from this it's not a wasted experience.

    Best,

    ~Cheri[/quote']

Wow, well said. Amazing achievements of your own.

~Krista. Your intuition must have told you that you'd get the support that you needed here in the sleeve family. You have had your own cheering squad in the great words before me! Glad that you reached out for it. You appear to have done a fantastic job up to this point. Maybe it's just time that your motivators change? Focus on your own best possession, yourself and your health. You have displayed that you obviously have the strength to see your journey through to your goal. Best wishes to you!!!

  3. Oooohhhh guys and girls.... I get little, no make that BIG, butterflies in my tummy when I think of tomorrow: <insert booming male radio/tv voice> "THE PREOP DIET"

Essentially my relationship w food changes tomorrow. Although the change may have begun last week, because some foods became unappealing to me to me recently. However, the cake at last nights wedding reception remained very attractive! So glad that was this week and not next! I don't want to test my resolve, but I will not allow my love for carbs to sabatoge my surgery. I want a nice, small, pretty and happy liver for my surgery. ;)

Probably the final countdown to surgery is adding to Butterflies? Maybe I should stop reading the immediate postoperative comments for a little while? Our perceptions to pain differ greatly, as well as our recoveries. I try to remember that when reading other's posts.

Would y'all like to post in this thread after surgery just to let each other know we are okay? (when you feel up to it, of course)

Thanks for "hearing" me out, on this anxious morning. Not sure who's listening, but it feels better just putting it out to others that are on the same path.

Now, I'm going to go have a great day with my family, before my reduction in carbs makes them afraid to come near me. ;)

    ~Jane

  4. I agree, this thread does help me stay focused. I think about it during the week "I hope I lose this week so I can post good news." Just a little extra motivator. :)

Good luck to you, Jane, and congrats on your decision! What day is your surgery?

Thanks Vance! My "Rebirthday" is June 25. The process and time has gone by relatively quickly. Now, with that being said, I start the preop diet on Monday and the final two week countdown....I bet time will begin to "s l o w" down dramatically. ;)

  5. Giselle' date=' I'm so very sorry, but there are reasons for caution. My surgeon worked with a brand new anesthesiologist which he wasn't happy about and the anesthesiologist messed up and the esophageal tube poked into my stomach at the same time during one of the last of two staples. Needless to say a tube stapled was a big commotion. A gastro team was called in and they couldn't cut the tube and my surgeon was extremely peeved with the anesthesiologist and point blank told my family, he will never work with him again. The surgery was over 5 hours long and my parents and husband said, oh my gosh, he was PO'd. He had very few choices, one choice would be to staple behind the tube which would really narrow the top near the esophagus, but after he spoke with my family he was able to go back in there and he managed to cut the tube and then follow the natural staple line. He's really a good surgeon, but that anesthesiologist just lost a surgeon and I'm sure there have been some major repercussions.

My drain is a bit draining, getting in and out of bed isn't so bad. I use my spirometer a lot, but every 4 hours I get a racking cough that is horrible. I'm allergic to pain meds except the morphine, so I'm stuck with Children's Tylenol (it's HORRIBLE...one ounce of that is like a brick in my tummy).

I can't understand how I've read people posting 5 days out they ate solid foods. That blows my mind,

Best wishes and prayers for all those. I questioned myself with the surgery day 2 and I'm now I'm doing okay. Every day I'm getting stronger, I think I'll feel much better after the drain is gone on Wednesday.[/quote']

    ~Mina.

So sad to hear you had complicatins! Extremely happy that you had such a great surgeon. Very glad that you're okay!!!!! Looking forward to hearing of your improvement and advances! Be well.

  6. 147.0-BE BLESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skinny and clever this am!.... "ONEderful".... :)

I relish the day that can be said to me!!

Awesome progress and breakthroughs everyone! This thread keeps me focused and hopeful. Counting down to sleeve day. Preop diet starts Monday. I'll be joining you all soon!

  7. If you really wanna keep things snug invest in a pair of Ben Wa Balls!! It will be a work out for your naughty place and feel good at the same time ;-) Try keeping those in while using the elliptical and you really will be a virgin again lol

~Jennifer I bet the term Ben Wa Balls will be "googled" a lot today. Thanks for the awesome laugh.

If someone tries this on the elliptical, they should report back.

I tried to avoid commenting on this thread because I work daily in the world of gynecology. I have heard it called soooo many different names. You all made me laugh, then I got to yours and Martys comments and I couldn't help myself... :'D

  8. How do you explain it if you're a klutz like me and the balls fall out and you trip over them and break your neck while running on the treadmill. "I was...um...er...ah... just put the cast on." -not that I can't keep them in with the best of them......(oohoooh she went there!!!)

~Marty You actually made me snort out loud! Still giggling.

  9. Oh June sleevers! I've had possibly the worse possible thing happen. The anesthesiologist could easily get me intimated. After multiple tries he succeeded but then administered steroids to reduce the swelling. This is unacceptable for this type of surgery so my procedure was cancelled. When I woke u they told me and I burst into tears. I'm now trying to either reschedule with my surgeon here' date=' reschedule where he prefers to go and have the insurance pick up my 20%. Please pray for me. I feel like my whole world is shattered.

    G.[/quote']

    Giselle,

I'm so sorry that that happened to you and that you're dissapointed. It would definately deflate my happy balloon. I am extremely glad to hear that you are safe and that they stopped when they did. Above all, your safety comes first! You have many people here thinking of you! Think positive and I'll do the same!!! Keep us posted.

    ~Jane

  10. I have my education classes tomorrow! It's becoming so real, been a dream up to this point. I can hardly believe that June is here! It seems like yesterday that we were in March and I had my first visit! My surgeon does require the two week reduced carb diet in order to reduce the size of the liver and decrease need of manipulating and/or injuring it. I have found this forum very useful in answering and raising some questions for me. I have also realized that MD requirements are so varied. You sound confident and prepared and that's what's important. Best of luck to you!!! Ten days...so exciting! I have 20 days to go! I hope you have a smooth surgery and recovery!!

  11. Eeeek! I shudder to think of what will come of "the girls"!!!!! =:o

I live in South Louisiana. I am currently the same size as you and looking in to reduction and lift, for when it's time. I have a ways to go as I have not been "sleeved"yet. ~21 days to go. Nervous and excited, all at the same time!

Best of luck to you on your journey.

  12. Thanks Jane! ..isn't it so consuming? Feel like I can't think of anything else! My family is prob sick of me already lol lol

    LOL!!! :D

Yet another reason I'm so greatfull for this site! Im trying very hard not to drive them crazy!! But I really can't focus on much else!!! I feel like I'm waiting for Santa Claus or Easter bunny to come and bring the gift I've always wanted!!!
