  1. Also...

    - I will not miss seeing my beautiful engagement ring sitting in my make-up drawer instead of on my finger.

    - I will not miss people being dismissive of my intelligence, beauty and drive bc I'm fat.

    - I will not miss my feet being so swollen they hurt at the end of the day.

    - I will not miss feeling like the massage therapist, chiropractor and my husband simply MUST be disgusted by my fat body.

    - I will not miss being ridiculously self-conscious when walking by a group of people, especially of they're teenagers.

  2. You do whatever feels good to YOU. You have no obligation to be a spokesperson for WLS or anything else that makes you uncomfortable! I'm such a blabber mouth usually, but I've only told my closest girlfriends, one co-worker, my boss (so many appts!) and my husband of course.

I fully expect that I'll be telling everyone within earshot once I've lost considerable weight, even perfect strangers! I was very open after struggling with infertility, and I'll likely be the same with WLS.

At the end of the day, it's an intensely personal choice and you'll do what's right for you. Those who matter don't mind and those who mind, don't matter!

  3. - I will not miss feeling self-conscious while eating out bc other people judge what the fat person is eating.

    - I will not miss the burden of being "funny" so that people 'won't notice' my weight.

    - I will not miss feeling GINORMOUS while walking into the ocean and coming back out with my bathing suit on.

    - I will not miss the spectacle that is me getting out of a beach chair, low car, deep sofa or blow up mattress.

    - I will not miss being the 1st person to sweat in any situation and knowing that others know it's bc I'm fat.

  4. I always like to answer those questions with a question or some vague 'answer'. ;)

    "What a weird question."

    "What difference does that make?"

"Our family is nuttier than a fruitcake!"

    "It's hard work losing 50lbs!"

"What do you think of the pics I posted?"

"I must look GOOD if I'm the subject of gossip. Whoo hoo!"

At the end of the day, it none of anyone's business and you don't have to tell ANYONE. :)

  5. agree...but why buy 5 or more of the baby blenders over the course of a couple years that last a year or two each when you can spend under 300 for a vitamix that can not only blend but will do 10 times more and will last a lifetime? the vitamix is under 300 bucks

Because I'd don't have $300 to spend on a blender right now and I want a small, cheap one! I was very specific in my request but thanks anyway.

  6. Hi! I'm looking for blender suggestions. Ideally I'd like something relatively inexpensive ($60 or less) that isn't ginormous. I'll mainly use it for shakes and purée post-op.

I thought buying a blender would be pretty simple, but 'Geez Louise!', so many choices!!

  7. Aetna here too! I had my 1st "official" doctors appt last Tuesday as well as the 1st nutritionist appt on Thursday. I've had all my labwork, the EKG, the chest xrays and the Upper GI done, too.

Now I have 2 more surgeon & nutritionist appts, one visit with a physical therapist, the psych eval and a 2 hour nutrition class and I'm done. The surgery is ALL I can think if and I'm so flippin' nervous that I won't be approved!!!! I think I'll just be crushed...
