    FRUSTRATED!!!

I am a month ahead of you and some days feel the same way. On the benefits side, I have not had heart burn or indigestion since the day I started my pre op, no tums, no antacids....I didn't have huge problems before but coffee, ground beef, garlic would cause me to munch away on tums......not 1 in 4 months. On the benefits side even though I don't see physical changes in me, I am getting compliments on 'looking good'. I am going to the gym 5 days a week and during a recent trip, the seatbelt on the plane was 'snug' not tight. And finally, have had 3 fills and even though the loss is slow I have not gained a pound back. I am not at restriction, am hungry between meals, and fighting hard to say within 1200 calories a day and a cup of high Protein food per meal and Snacks. We didn't gain it in 3-4 months, so we certainly aren't going to lose it in 3-4 months. Slow and steady and healthy. Why not start by walking around the block once a day, and work to 2x around the block........ good luck to you and chin up.

    Two week Follow up

Anything in a blender, chili, chicken salad, tuna salad, refried beans..........this wasn't a very exciting stage for me but I loved getting a rotissaire chicken adding a bit of liquid (low fat gravy, bbq sauce, broth) a bit of cheese and sticking it in my bullet..........consistancy of peanut butter, but tasted so good.

    um, my band is broken...

Your in bandster hell and it could last a while. Most people at this stage eat about 1200 calories per day and try to maintain 8oz or 1 c of food per meal. Have you been given specific instructions why you are only eating meat, cheese and eggs and no fruit or veggies? Good luck and stay with it.

    HEARTBURN

I am opposite of you, haven't had heartburn or indigestion since the day I started my pre op..........lots of extra tums and antacids hanging around my house. Good luck to you. I would imagine that you have alot of gas left in you, take it easy.

    Ugh.......

Peppermint tea, heating pad, gas x and lots of walking for the shoulder pain. It is worth it.

    Hiking

I would imagine you would be just fine. Happy hiking.

    Will I feel normal again?

I am not aware of my band until I see my scars and when I am eating............only the planning and chewing part of eating, not the actual eating part. (haven't been stuck yet)

calling banders in below zero temps or near zero

I grew up about 2hrs from where this was supposedly filmed and have never heard of it. It is -27C (-8F) here today and I might just put a bottle on my patio tonight - thinking it was more 'misting' or iced up on the bottle than anything.

    Lapband-allergan

Good for you, take control of the situation. This is too big of a life change to not be comfortable.

    Lapband-allergan

I asked at my 2nd appt if she was going to pull everything out and measure and my clinic (they are all different) she said they don't like to pull all the fill out and measure unless they feel they need to, they trust what they have recorded is in the band, unless there are other problems and they need to verify. She also said it isn't great for the band to keep emptying and filling - who knows. I think your dr was confused today, if he put in 3 and pulled out 3 at your last appt, then you should only have 3, plus the 1 he put in today. In all reality it is nice to know how much you have in there, but it really doesn't make a difference in your restriction. It is all about how you feel, no 2 people are alike. good luck.

    Second filll

I love emilybites.com, as well I ordered Jean MacMillians bandwagon recipe book off of this site and it has some fantastic recipes.

    what to do after fill

I spend the rest of the day on liquids, day 2 on full liquids, day 3 on mushies and then should be on solids by the evening of day 3.

    Lapband-allergan

I have an Allergan band and at my first fill she pulled out 1cc that was left there from surgery. She told me that once they fit the band, they fill it to make sure everything is working and looks good and then unfills it, usually there is 1-3cc's left from surgery. I have never heard of it being prefilled. Did your dr pull all the fluid out of your band to measure it before adding the 1cc???

    How many meds?

    Multi vit. and calcium........
  15. Thanks for the reminder. I did talk to my clinic today, they think I am not far from restriction. I just have to remember to keep chewing. The 3x were certainly not stuck episodes, just a little trapped. Have a good day.
  16. My appt was 1 week post op and I lost 10lbs that week........(9lbs pre op). Has been pretty slow since, but have not gained anything back. Everyone is different and alot of times weight loss is higher if you have more to lose. Good luck.

    No Exercise

There are many different forms of exercise, walking around the block to an hour bootcamp class at your local gym. I would hope that there would be something in there for everyone.
  18. I am 4 months out and had one of my post op pureed meals today. Chicken, a bit of bbq sauce, cheese in my magic bullet (not as pureed as post surgery (thick peanut butter), but pureed enough) (ate this with a fork during pureed) but tonight, heated it and put it on a rice cracker..........yummo

    Day 1 of Liquid Diet

I am not sure what liquids you are on, but once day 3 hit, it was all good. Flavored some with decaffinated instant coffee, drank from a straw to avoid the protein smell and life was fine. Brought my bullet to work to make my shakes there.
  20. I had my surgery at 8am and was home laying on the deck in the sun at noon. I had my headphones on and was pretty loopy. I did not nap that day, but could do nothing more than move from sofa to chair to washroom to back again. Everyone is different.........
  21. Bread, pasta and rice have a high probability of getting stuck (mashed potatoes go down like a charm), but if you chew, toast and chew some more you can probably eat anything. I would hesitate to try fresh warm gummy bread, I can eat pasta, haven't really tried rice and potatoes are just fine..........everyone is different and things change depending on the amount of restriction you have.
  22. I have been banded for 4 months and can eat anything. Bread is getting more difficult for me.....not stuck, but 3x have had to drink water to 'push it down'. Other times, bread is perfectly fine.
  23. You are doing great. I am 4 months out and 31lbs. It is frustrating at times when I read that others have lost way more, but I have not gained 1lb back (maintained over xmas - phew) and am not at restriction and am seeing other health benifits right now, slow and steady until the next fill.

    Back on track

I guess the first question I would have is why your husband is holding you back. It is your band and your body, if you want to get fills or go to the gym, can you? Or does that create further stress? I would start by going back to the basics and start tracking...........tracking always tells part of the story. Good luck.
