  1. GNC offers a 30 day return policy, even if it is open, might be a good place if you are unsure of tastes or if you will like something.
  2. Don't go too crazy .......... I spent a fortune on what I might need post op..........bought $50 worth of unjury, couldn't stomach it, gave it away, bought carnation instant bfast on recommendation from my surgeon, couldn't stomach it, threw it out, bought high Protein pudding from GNG, couldn't stomach it returned it. I have enough gasx in my drawer to treat everyone on this board, I was over prepared. Pre op, I was on Optifast only so didn't have much of a selection. Post surgery, I would have been happy to go back on optifast, but just have Soups, Jello, heating pad, gasx, stool softener and take it day by day and introduce things in one at a time. Good luck.

    Liquid Diet Is Killing Me

Every doctor gives different instructions. You have stitches on the inside and when you eat your stomach constricts to help push food along. liquid diets minimize this movement and gives your stomach and stitches more time to heal. (at 1 week post op I asked my dr's about exercise and I was told that I didn't want to 'pop a stitch' was said.......yikes, pop a stitch). Perhaps you can call your dr's office and talk to them. I was told to put cottage cheese in my cream Soups and blend them, extra Protein that keeps you full longer. Try to get more protein in to control the hunger. As with instructions, everyone seems to have their port in different locations. Usually it is under your largest incision. Mine is about 2 inches above my bellybutton, to the right a wee bit.
  6. I think these have to be my new favorites..........so easy to make, low calorie, low fat, 17g of protein. 1 is plenty with some veggies. http://www.emilybites.com/2013/01/enchilada-cupcakes.html

    TMI?

I had gas pains in my shoulder for about 2 months. I burp and fart like it is my job, thank god the passing of the gas is usually void of smell....... I think I burp more. Having said that, since the first day of my pre op liquid diet, I have not had heartburn once and have not taken an antacid once. (I never had super bad heartburn but always carried tums)

    gym?

I wasn't cleared to do anything but walking for 6 weeks. Although you might feel good, you are still healing inside.

    Fills!! How many??

I am at 3, no restriction, still hungry, but have had 3 episodes that weren't 'stuck' but a bit trapped and had to drink water to push food down. 2x thin bread and 1x cheese and cracker............need to keep in mind small bites and chewing.

    First Fill

If I have a fill on Friday I am on liquids that day, Sat mushie, Sun mushie and then full foods for dinner. You are hungry because you aren't eating very much and probably not taking in a lot of protein.

I took a Zumba class last night.....

Good for you........I went to one zumba class and I was flailing around like a fish out of Water. I have no coordination when it comes to moving hands and legs at the same time and those poor people around me who were zigging when I was zagging. The zumba classes at my gym are packed all the time......... I go to the gym, but stick with barbells, bootcamp and spin....... Good for you.

    Fat free VS Sugar free?

I watched a program the other day about 'fat free'.......and how as a society we instantly look at calories and fat when we look at labels. However for alot of people sodium is a big problem as well. They went on to say that when you take the fat out of a food and make it fat free or low fat, you are also taking out flavor, fat (and sugar) = flavor, so to compensate that, they add salt (and sugar), because salt increases flavor as well. I compared a box of special k breakfast cereal to fruit loops, calories and fat almost the same but suprisingly special k has more sodium.(won't even talk about the sugar) For things that are so close in calories and fat, it really doesn't hurt to get the full on product with less soduim as opposed to 'fat free' - (i am thinking things like sour cream where I would just use 1-2 tablespoons)........

    Newbie

I bought 2 big tubs of unjury pre surgery and couldn't get them down post op............silly me didn't even try them before buying them. Pretty soon you can eat your protein and not worry about drinking it.
  18. If you are on insurance it can take a while (6months to a year) as they sometimes require dr supervised documented weight loss attempts. Self pay, you can probably get in within a month.
  19. Self pay, Canada - $16,000 I am a patient for life price includes, all fills, unfills, nutrition, 6 personal training sessions..........any issues or problems included in that cost as well.

    exercise

I work out about 5x a week, an hour each (in a class setting as if I was on my own, I know I wouldn't be motivated to stay for an hour). This is what I have been doing for about the last 4 years, so it is part of my routine. I fortunatly am a healthy fat person, no medical issues and am able to do pretty hard workouts. Nanu and Dacoop, just getting out for a walk around the block is perfect, and next month, around 2 blocks.........invest in some good music and headphones and the time will fly by....I love walking with my music. Do what you can, not what others are doing. Aerobics in the pool is good for you and you will surprisingly feel it.

    Started Pureed Foods!

Chili in a blender, tuna and chicken salad in a blender, ricotta cheese w marinara, sweet potato well done. Baby food is for babies, you are not a baby. Go easy on the mashed potatoes, refried beans. If you can mush it and blend it, you should be okay to eat it. I loved rotissaire chicken in the blender with a bit of bottled gravy and cheese......consistancy of peanut butter but sooooo tasty after 4 weeks of liquids. I stuck with soups as well, added cottage cheese and blended for more protein.

    Newbie

I added decaffinated instant coffee grounds to my shakes as well as drank them thru a straw to try to mask the smell and taste, funny enough my pre op shakes (I can only get them at thru my dr) are the only ones I can drink now and I have tried alot. GNC has a 30 day return policy on all items, maybe try some protein powders/drinks from there.
  24. I burped like it was my job for about the first 3 months........still am a pretty good burper..........it never hurt me, but probably good to get the gas out.
