    green zone?

When you can eat a cup of food or 8oz and feel full for 4ish hours and steadily lose weight. I don't think it is about feeling fuller faster, it is sticking to the cup of food and being satisfied. I have had 4 fills and am 5 months post op and might just be in the zone.

Do you not feel restriction until you get filled?

Restriction is different for everyone, some do not need any fills, I am 5 months post op and just had my 4th fill and am feeling restriction, finally. The first 6 weeks for you are for healing, not losing, so be patient and follow your dr's instructions. good luck.

    Dumb Question

    ....and no question is dumb

    Dumb Question

I lost weight on my pre op and 10lbs my first week post op, after that, everything I have lost has been because I have been 'dieting', I have not reached restriction so for lack of a better term my band is not yet working for me. (just had a fill on Friday so do feel I am closer) I didn't lose much before my first fill, second fill, third fill or 4th fill.........everyone is different, so here is hoping it kicks in before my 5th fill.

    Questions

5 months out and have never thrown up. I was sent home with pain killers and ended up only using them for 2 days, not because I had pain, but I wanted to stay ahead of what pain might come......it never did. I did a 2 week liquid diet, but if you have been around the boards, every dr is different. I also did take stool softeners, that was my friend, my surgeons office warned me to get on that right away before it became a bigger problem.
  6. Not a big deal and they may be able to do a bit of freezing if you like. I think my first fill she did a little more digging around with her fingers to find the port, but once she did she noted it in my file and has hit it smack on, on all my other fills. Apart from the needle prick you really don't feel anything. easy peasy. Good luck.
  7. I had my 4th fill on Friday, 5cc's total and tonight during dinner, for the first time, I felt that full feeling, almost at the very back at my throat........time to stop eating and enjoy the feeling. For those of you vet's, please tell me that this might be a sign that I am closer to restriction..............thanks

eat before or after the gym?

I try to do both......maybe a small piece of fruit or yogurt before and something high in protein after.
  10. Gatorade has a protein drink.........lemon lime, it was terrible. I haven't done any protein waters........eat your protein, it is much tastier. Check a nutrition store.

    Chicken parmesean mini meatloafs

I have done those as well as the buffalo chicken Pasta muffins, enchilada cupcakes are my fav., I have also had the zucchini tots and the zucchini squares - both are super tasty. Have made chicken parm. casserole and layered pasta bake. Have not had a fail from that website yet. All the muffin tin ones can be frozen and are great for lunches. I may try the chicken piccata tomorrow.
  12. Unless someone specifically comes out and asks you if you have had the lap band you are not lying to anyone. If someone comments on your weightloss and asks you how, hard work, watching what I eat and exercise, because that it the truth.

    Soft Food Phase Ideas?

I loved chicken in the blender with a bit of jarred gravey, or laughing cow cheese or salsa........it had the texture of peanut buttter but yummo.

    what's your workout routine?

I try to get to the gym 4-5x per week. I usually do 2-3 spin classes and then an aerobic class or power barbell class. Last week it was so nice out that I walked for an hour instead and loved it, sometimes I feel I am in a rush to get to the gym that I forget about the great outdoors. I commit to walking more, when it is safe to do so because of the craploads of snow we have. I just finished a personal training session today - I had 6 PT sessions included in my surgery fee and there is something to be said for somone sitting 10 inches away from you counting, pushing and making sure you have good form...........I might consider even doing 1 a week after I finish the ones that I have left. I think anything that gets you moving and your heart elevated a bit is great, and work from there!!!
  15. I am 5 months in and maybe 10 people know. Not that I am fighting to keep it a secret, but I just can't be bothered to explain the whole thing and have them watch me.

when can I start feeling a difference?

I am 5 months out and like you don't feel a difference, but if I think about it, I am getting a number of compliments and questions if I lost weight (even though the scale isn't moving), I have not taken an antacid since the first day of my pre op and prior to that I had tums at home, work, in my purse. I have not had indigesten or heartburn since before pre op. So I suppose those can all be things that I have noticed that are not related to the scale. Going for fill 4 today............so frustrated with the non existant weight loss (no gain) ugh

    1st fill?? When??

I had my first fill 6 weeks post op and only get 1cc per fill, no discussion or negotiation on that, it is just the way my surgeon works, plus I live 6hrs away go I can't afford to get in trouble with an overfill and have to travel back 6hrs 1 way for a defill.

    Plateau...

I had mine Sept 17th and it has been slooowwwww. I have never gained a pound but the loss seems so minimal. But a loss is a loss. I have had 3 fills and am no where near restriction, so am on a diet........it is hard. It has been suggested to change your calorie intake, add more for a few days, decrease, change your exercise routine. Good luck.
  19. Get some good music and good headphones and walk..........I don't think you need to be on a spin bike or in a powerlifting class to call it exercise, just start off by walking. I do go to the gym and I do walk and anytime I have good music on it goes by quickly - I am a clock watcher. Find a friend to walk with you......... Walking and talking makes it go by quickly too. Good luck.

    Emily's Zucchini Tots - Awesome!

I make them and freeze them and put them in the toaster oven to crisp them up for lunches. My new fav is the enchalida cups............have made 2 batches of them, and they are also good from the freezer and put in the toaster oven to get them crispy. Happy cooking

    Protein Shakes

I still buy mine (optifast) from my clinic. I have tried alot of other things out there and just can't stomach the taste and smell. I try to eat my protein as opposed to drink it, but do find it is a good to go especially in the mornings.
  23. wildrose1966

    What are your calorie goals?

1200 calories - every now and then I have to mix it up and go up to 1500 and then down to 900 just for a day or 2 so my body doesn't get use to the same ole thing. A little shock sometimes kicks start a plateau.
  24. wildrose1966

    Mushie stage

I don't eat eggs, and tend to do protein shakes, but I have had sandwiches on thins with cheese for bfast too.
