    Collace in ontario

I have never heard of collace. Post surgery I used miralax and mixed it in my pudding and yoguart, now I just find the one with the smallest pill,,,,,,,,,currently duralex. Good luck.

    No protein! What to do?

Add cottage cheese to your soups and throw it all in the blender, adds a nice taste and you get some protein in. When I got my band, I couldn't do the protein powder/drinks either, they weren't too concerned for the first few weeks until I could eat my protein again...........went back to optifast for a meal replacement post op.

    Dinner tonight

A salad with some protein - probably one of my emily bites muffin tin meals. Leaving on a trip this weekend so working my way thru the fridge.......I have lots of romaine in there.

    Growling stomach

6 months out and mine is noisey.........especially in bed at night.......it is loud.
  5. 6 months post op and haven't tried soda. Strict instructions that carbonated beverages are gone from my world.

    second fill

It is so hard to believe but you really have to have patience for this journey. Everyone is different, some people have lost alot of weight with zero fills and others have had 7-8-9 fills. My dr is ultra conservative. 1cc per fill, no negotiation. I am 5 monts post op and have had 4 fills, still not in the green zone..........I live 6hrs one way from my clinic so I am not fortunate enough to go in every 2-3 weeks. That was my choice. Until we hit that zone, we are on a diet. good luck.

    Gas?!?

Oh sister it is gas............and surgery was probably nothing compared to the gas pain. It does get worse before it gets better.
  8. I have never read or heard that a band needs to be replaced every 10yrs. Can you please show me where this information came from, because my surgeons office has never mentioned this. thanks

How much fluid can we hold

Drink away, liquids just flow right on through. You can't drink too much. Just don't gulp - sip. Soups are liquids too, watch the cream soups once you are healed. I added cottage cheese to my cream soups and put it in the blender, extra protein.

    Gained weight

Don't worry, it is just your body holding onto everything for the next little while. Being on liquids you were probably in starvation mode, now that you are eating your body might not be sure where the next meal is coming from. Give it a bit, make good choices and everything should fall into place.

    Could it be...?

I believe restriction is not feeling full, but eating 1c of food and feeling satisfied for 4-5 hours. Don't eat to feel stuffed, just stick with 1c/8oz and stop. I hope this is it for you. I am on fill #4 and not quite there yet.

    Another fill thread

You just had major surgery, and a band wrapped around your stomach..........a fill is nothing compared to that. Some clinics can put a little freezing in. It is a pin prick, maybe some digging around with the fingers to find your port, but they make note of that and other fills will be easy. Don't fret too much as you may have to have many more fills/unfills in your banded life. Good luck.

Newly banded- kind of freakin out:)

Lots of walking, peppermint tea and heating pad. I didn't have any pain until about 3 weeks and then every now and then for about 2.5 months. I found that when I had the pain, if I stood up and walked around it was better than if I stayed sitting. They pump your stomach cavity full of gas and it just has to dispurse. I also had alot of burping and farting..........quite the lady. I have not read that people have removed the band because of gas pain. (back pain is sometimes a sign of a slipped band) It was major surgery so you are probably feeling crappy, and it is a pretty big emotional decision. It does get better, give it some time. Remember 6 weeks for healing, so slow down and take it day by day!!!!!

    No heartburn!!

I haven't had 1 antacid since the day I started my pre-op. I didn't have reflux or anything, but always had Tums close by.
  15. Everything I did before..........visited friends, walked around the mall, walked up and down the street, did groceries, movies, read, worked remotely.
  16. wildrose1966

Drinking coffee with my protein shake

I added instant coffee to my pre op shakes, couldn't stomach them or stand the smell and the coffee took the edge off a bit.

    Banded 1/30 Not Losing??

Walking is great........I remember I was ready to go back to the gym at week 2 and my clinic used the term 'pop a sticth' , kept me away until it was time........lots of internal healing. good luck.

    Banded 1/30 Not Losing??

You are still in healing mode and I don't think you are eating enough calories so your body is freaking out, thinking you are starving it and holding onto everything. You might want to try to up your calories for a few days and then go back down to 1200, give your body a bit of a shock. Until you hit your green zone you are really on a diet and that can take many months to get to good restriction so that you are not hungry between meals and losing regularly. I wasn't allowed in the gym for 6-8 weeks........ Good luck.

    How Much Time Off Work?

I took a week, I also have a desk job. I had a pretty non eventful recovery, no pain, no sleeping problem, was walking around right away. I had surgery on a Monday and probably could have worked by Friday, but given the distance and my follow up appt, went back to work the following Tues.
  20. Shoulder pain came and went for about 2.5 months. Gasx, heating pad, peppermint tea. I usually felt alot of relief if I stood and walked around.

    Taco cupcakes

My fav are the enchilada cupcakes and the zucchini squares (made into cupcakes instead of squares)

    Problem drinking protein

I had the same problem, I ended up going back to my pre op shakes. You can make them super cold, lots of ice, drink out of a straw. At the beginning I even had trouble with my pre op shakes and added Walden Farms chocolate sauce and sometimes instant coffee to try to mask the taste. Increase Protein other ways yoguart. I added cottage cheese to my Soup and blended it.............. My clinic wasn't too concerned with protein during my liquid post op stage, they just didn't want me to be dehydrated. Once I could eat my protein I was good. Good luck to you.

    Cost

I am in Canada - $16,000 and am a patient for life, I do not pay one penny more for fills, consults, meetings, unfills and if I have to get it removed.......
  24. wildrose1966

First fill tomorrow - really scared

You had surgery and have a band wrapped around the inside of your stomach and a port sewn to your ab muscles......I think you will do just fine with a little pin prick. At my clinic, they do put some freezing in if you request, but really, it is a pin prick. We women go thru alot worse to look beautiful. Good luck.

I have yet to try rice and pork............after reading this, might wait a bit longer........hope you are feeling better.
