  1. I don't think there are any "hard-and-fast" rules. I think it depends on your doctor. I've seen people post on here "not until a year out" & others post they were one month post op & gave wine a try. I'm 7 weeks out & thinking I'm going to try a snort of something mixed with Protein2Go lemonade. At least I'll be getting some Protein in with my drink!!
  2. Oh yeah, Jaegermeister is licorice-flavored. That brings back some good (& not do good) memories from the bar-hoppin' days.....
  3. Fleet glycerine suppositories are good (& fast) if you don't want to consume more calories by trying to eat or drink something to make yourself go.
  4. Flip flops are horrible for PF because you are constantly gripping with your toes (unconsciously) to keep them on your feet. My recommendations are: boot at night, stretch (but no bouncing if you're hanging your heel over the edge of a stair), and walking (in a good walking shoe). Go to a running store & they will watch your gait as you walk & recommend the best walking (or running) shoe for you (based on pronation).
  5. LOL!!! Ok, so at least I know now that I'm not so old that I don't know the "cool kids" lingo :-)
  6. Since this is a questions thread, may I ask what "dde03" means?
  7. Wonderful news!!! Glad things are going well. HW: 254 SW: 243 (10/15/12) CW: 226 (11/21/12) Sleeved 10/15/12 by Dr. Ryan Heider @ Lake Norman Regional. (self pay)
  8. Hi dentalgurl - congrats on your decision to go with Dr Heider! You'll love him & his staff. I'm 6 weeks out & doing great! 30lbs down since Oct 1st when I started the 2weeks of Optifast for pre-op. Let me know if you have any questions. I'll be glad to help. (Sleeved 10/15/12 by Dr. Ryan Heider at Lake Norman Regional)
  9. Cream tank-top: 9/30/12 (254 lbs) Green t-shirt: 11/3/12 (? lbs) I didn't weigh myself but the inches lost were: -1 inch from neck -1 inch from bicep -1 inch from forearm -2 inches from chest -3 inches from upper tummy -7 inches from waist at navel -6 inches from hips -2 inches from upper thigh -1 inch from knee -1/2 inch from calf -1/2 inch from ankle
  10. Welcome! Who's doing your surgery? HW: 254 SW: 243 (10/15/12) CW: 226 (11/21/12) Sleeved 10/15/12 by Dr. Ryan Heider @ Lake Norman Regional. (self pay)
  11. Uh, yeah. My cousin has a 22lb turkey for 5 of us. Overkill much? Maybe I should have brought some Tupperware for leftovers.....
  12. Hey retakk - Were you able to get an appointment soon at Dr. H's office?
  13. Congratulations on your decision!!! You will be so pleased with your choice. I'll still be here to help with any other questions/concerns so bring 'em on!!!
  14. Which flavors/brands? I didn't like one brand but love the vanilla & the Key Lime flavors by Okios (a Dannon brand)
  15. If you're still torn between Dr. Heider & going to Mexico, don't just look at the dollars. Look at what you're getting: Dr. Heider may not be as experienced as the doctors in Mexico, but he trains many other doctors on the laparoscopic technique of the sleeve surgery so he must be doing something right (he has done over 400 sleeves, I think closer to 500 now). Plus, your money pays for nutritional follow ups & monthly doctors follow ups for at least a year. Will you be seeing your Mexico surgeon on a monthly basis after your surgery? Is your doctor in Mexico going to KNOW you - or are you just a patient he met 30 minutes before he walked into the O.R. (If you even get to meet him before the surgery)? I'm not saying going to Mexico is the wrong decision, I'm just telling you what I considered when I made my choice to allow Dr. Heider to do my surgery.
  16. He'll tell you he uses a small bougie & explain that it's all technique. You can use a bougie as your guide, but each doctor is different. Meaning: a doctor can use a small one but then cut further out from it. But in my experience, his are small. No drains.
