I too am an RN on busy tele unit. With all of the responses looks we might have found a new group to relate too. I am having surgery on Aug 27th. Will be taking about 2 weeks off. I think I can find other nurses to "lift" for me. God knows I have done enough lifting for our "expecting" co-workers. Any body else having surgery soon? BTW i am in california. Anybody on west coast?? NURSES do rock!

I'm settled in my hotel room at the beautiful Marriott in Tijuana. I've drunk the last of my chicken broth and am finishing my Water.....at 6:40 a.m. tomorrow morning the driver will bring me to Dr. Ortiz's hospital, and then next time you hear from me I WILL BE BANDED.
Really nervous and excited -- is this really happening? It seems like every thing has gone so fast!
Look forward to reporting to you guys tomorrow afternoon if I feel up to it......Yay!

Rule one I found out: Protein drinks-make sure lid is on before you shake!!!

If you are worried about an infection. Don't wait till monday. Call your surgeon, go to urgent care and have them look at it. Be smart. Take care.

I sent a pic to the nurse at my doctors office and she said it looked okay to her. She said if it gets a circle around it or is hot to the touch then to come in. She said everyone heals differently. I go see them for my normal appt on Monday morning. I'm feeling a little better about it, but still won't be completely worry free until I see them on Monday just to be sure. Thanks for the 3 responses I got....lol.

I'm a nurse too I'm just at the beginning of my journey, though. I go to my seminar next month. I'm borderline at best for my BMI but thinking positively that my insurance will cover.....would be nice to have support from my fellow nurses:)

I work on a busy tele/ortho floor. I get banded sept 14 andI was only going to take 4 days off but by the looks of the responses I probably need to take a good week off. Good luck ladies!! Let's keep each other posted

I'm a RN, work in a recovery unit, i'm going to be off 1 wk. after surgery. I can delegate the lifting for a few wks. after surgery. My surgery is scheduled for Aug 28th! We need a nurse group on here! keep in touch
