I was also sleeved on the 29th. Have been freezing. My temp has also been up a bit. Either 99 or 100..nothing I am worried about yet. Seems to be just in the evening it spikes a touch. They told me unless I was running 101 not to worry about it. I also weighed myself today. I actually weigh more than when I went in but I assume its cause of all the fluids built up from the Iv's etc. Hope thats normal.

My family and co-workers all know. No point in keeping it a secret. I work in a large office building and they way I figure, if its successful and helps just one other person, then thats ok by me. I have not told my Facebook friends. Eventually I probably will.

I also have a pool and that was one of my first questions. They said minimum 4 weeks. Its not the exercise they are concerned with, its the bacteria that can be in a pool or hot tub they worry about.

I cant say enough about quitnet. com for people trying to quit. There is no charge for the basic and my understanding is that many states and canada pay for a premium membership. It is a lot like this site. The community is amazing. I dont think I would be quit for 5 months without them. I was a hard core smoker and at first decided that after the surgery I would start smoking again. Now I can honestly say I will never light another one. I love how I feel now, cant wait to see how its gonna be once I lose this weight!

Being put under is a lot less of a problem than it used to be, I've been anesthetized 10 times over the last 51 years and I can tell you that it's become a lot better as the years have gone forward. You take a couple of deep breaths and you wake up in the recovery room.
Thanks! That really does help. I am sure its normal thinking. I just have to put my trust in my surgeon and anestesiologist and I am sure I will be just fine

Hi Jazzy,
Welcome. I am new here too. I just found this site a few days ago. I get my sleeve on Tues May 29th. I also had a 7 month wait but I was glad of that. Gave me a lot of time to decide which procedure to go with, and to quit smoking too. I am nervous but excited at the same time. I am ready to do this! This site by far has been the most helpful to me. Very glad I found it. I feel much more at ease about my choice.

I quit smoking 5 months ago in preparation for this surgery. I used chantix and would highly recommend it. I joined another support group called quitnet.com and they were great! Spent a lot of time on there in the beginning. I also gave up drinking alcohol, and caffiene. The smoking and caffiene were the hardest for me. I quit smoking early because I knew I had to also quit the others, and for me to do it all at once would have been just crazy. I was not happy about it, but now so far its the best thing I have ever done for myself! The sooner you quit the better off you will be when your surgery date comes. Also it was not an option for me. I have had 2 nicotine tests and will probably have one more the day of the surgery. My surgeon will not do the operation if I have smoked in the last 8 weeks.

I am terrified. I keep trying to re-focus. I know I am going through with it. Mine is on the 29th of May (Tuesday). I have never been put under before. This site has been great. It has helped to ease my fears and keep me positive. Good luck with your surgery I am sure we will be just fine.

Hi Michigan Sleevers! I am going in for my surgery Tuesday May 29th. Having it done at Hurley hospital in Flint, by Dr. Farhan. Wish me luck!

Thanks Jenny,
I have never had any surgery so I really dont know what to expect. Just grin and bear it I guess. I know its totally going to be worth it. The hospital I am having it done at keeps us 2 nights so I think I am going to be grateful for that extra help for 1 more day. Good luck to you, and I hope you are feeling better soon

Congratulations! Its posts like these that make me feel better. I go this coming Tuesday for mine. I am excited but scared too!

I must be one of the long waits then after reading this. My process took from October of 2011 to now. My surgery is scheduled for this coming Tuesday finally! I think I am glad it took so long, I quit smoking 5 months ago, gave up any alcohol over a month ago and also stopped caffiene 3 weeks ago. If I had to do that all at once I would have been a basket case! Especially the cigarettes and coffee! It also gave me time to really research it and make sure it was what I really wanted. I have had plenty of time to back out but I am going for it! No looking back

You look fabulous! I am so happy for you. Im afraid being 46 years old, no matter how much I lose I will never see a bikini. But I have a pool and love to swim so I still want to look good in a bathing suit. Congratulations! You rock that bathing suit girl!

Hello,
Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I am getting my sleeve May 29th and getting excited. I was very nervous about the whole thing until I found this site. SO happy I found it! I love reading about everyones success stories. So..how is everyone doing so far who has had a sleeve done in May? We are nearing the end of the month and I am especially curious as to how those who had it in the beginning of May are doing? I am into my 2nd week of my liquid diet (yuck!) but its getting routine. Just ready for the surgery to be done!

I was sleeved on the 29th. I also have been walking quite a bit. I had it horrible the first 2 days, seems to be letting up a bit today. I was told by the surgeon to stay away from the recliners for 4 weeks due to blood clots. Apparently its where the bars hit your calves. Just thought I would share that. Hope you feel better soon
