  1. I have started coughing at night . Have acid reflex at night . Especially if I eat to late at night . Not vomiting , but not getting a lot of sleep . Is it possible that when I had a upper respiratory infection a few months ago , and had the most awful coughing I tore the hernia repair open and that is what is allowing all this to occur . I have had my band for over a year , and haven't had any problems with it at all.

  2. I've had hypothyroidism for about 8/9 years . I was banded on april 25,2012 . Went to my PCP for labs in may and was in a hyper state . I have lost 42 lbs so far . So we decided to leave my dosage the same as being in a hyper state will help with the weight loss . But it's a one line to walk and we have to monitor my labs frequently . Good luck with your journey :)

  3. I had my surgery 4/25 it went really smooth . Had pain for 2-3 days I think that was due to the hernia repair they done at the same time . I was up and walking the next day . The walking is very important . #1 it help to prevent the formation of blood clots due to immobility , #2 helps prevent pneumonia . So get up and walk and do the spirometer they give you . Good luck :)

  4. I used mine for the first time tuesday , we went to golden corral . And they gave me the discount . The normal price for the buffet is $10.99 , and they charged me the senior price $6.49 . Not a Hugh savings but more than I expected . So I will use my card from now on . And my doctor gave me a Lapband card , then I got a one in the mail that had all my info on it .

  5. Man I stink at this !!!

I choose the lap band because Dr. Jessee had the choice between the two sizes , and the realize band to some said it was more forgiving .

I know me and if I'm given inch I want a mile , if you know what I mean . So to

Keep me on that straight and narrow line , I choose what I felt was best for me .

You need to remember this is a personal journey , yes we are all on it . But what is right for one person might not be the best for the next .

Research it , talk it over with the surgeon

, it is very expensive and your paying for their and their office staffs knowledge so why not use it .

I am 100% sure you will make the right choice , Heck you already have by looking into the surgery . And I also know there is alot of good facts out there and just as much bad !!!

But keep in mind some if not alot of the bad has to do with the person not following the rules. And yes there are rules and yes you will diet in a since . The band is only a tool , and if not used right you will have buyers remorse !!!!

Good luck on your journey, we are all here for you , good or bad :)

  6. I will do my best to tell what I know . You make the decision if you want the realize band or the lap band . Both are bands different makers an a lurks different in style . The surgeon decides what size / cc's you get . From my understanding the realize band has one size , while the lap band has 2 .

I was banded on April 25,2012 and I choose the lap band and have a 10cc band in . As of this morning I'm 38 lbs down . And I think it's the best thing I have ever done with the exception of having my kids !!!!!

I have had my first fill I got 4.8 cc in and haven't had any trouble at all . I hope this helps you and I didn't ramble to much .

  7. Beautiful B ,

I have had hypothyroidism for about 15 years. Found out when I was going to the diet doc for pills .

My endocrinologist only prescribes synthroid - the generic brand levithyroxine can very with it's active ingredients .

With that being said it can take a good 6 weeks for them to see a change either way , then you should be re-checked every 3 months .

I was banded on 4-25-2012 , and when I went to my PCP for follow lab work after I was in a hyperthyroid state . For now we are going to keep meds the same , and re-check in July .

Good luck with your journey !!!!

  8. Rayanne

My heart goes out to you . I know all the feelings you are going thru , we lost my brother in law to suicide in 92 .

With that said , you have lost 20 lbs !!!! We all fall of the wagon . The important thing is you pick yourself up and brush off and get back on .

I haven't had to start over , but you know what needs to be done . I would do my pre-op diet again . On mine I had protien shakes for Breakfast and lunch then ate a protien packed supper .

I wish you the best of luck , take it one day at a time . You got this girl !!!!! And if you need to talk I'm here . Keep your eye on the prize :)

  9. Welcome , I'm Jackie and I was banded 4/25/2012 . I have lost 30 lbs so far and I get my first fill Tuesday !!!! I went to my primary care doc and if I keep going I will be off my blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds in 2 months . Best choice I have made .
