I am 5 months out and 70 lbs down. We were displaced for 6 weeks because of hurricane Sandy so I didn't have my machine. Family said I snored. Also, I had eye surgery last week and while under, the doctor said he could tell II had sleep apnea because my O2 levels were down. So. I will keep the stupid machine until I reach goal, about another 40-59 pounda, then go for another sleep study.

hey guys!!! I live in Manhattan and i am having trouble finding a psychologist/psychiatrist for an evaluation that possibly takes my insurance or won't charge more than 150???My insurance wont take evaluations from CSW's. Please can any pre-op or post-op sleevers tell me if they know anyone? Thanks!!!!!!!!
Hi. I'm from queens but used dr yatco with Lenox hills. His office did everything, everyone on staff, the nut, and psych to, who charged $150.
Good luck to you.

Hi. I was sleeved on August 20.
Highest weight. 272
DOS. 261
Today 9/21. 233
So after lose to 5 weeks post op I've lost 28 lbs since surgery.
I'm eating soft foods now, but I'm not very good in the kitchen and afraid of food. Still having trouble getting enough Protein and liquid in. Today I had 1 eg scramble with some cheese for Breakfast, 1/2 yo plait light for lunch and is now trying to finish 2 oz of tuna. I get full so fast it's ridiculous. But i miss food. I want to bite into something so badly.
Going away for a one night getaway with my husband (business trip for him). Bring with me some instant cream of wheat, and several different Protein drinks just in case.
It's good to hear for everyone.

When I started this journey, I played with different Protein Drinks. I use the priemier Protein from costco Also GNC has some nice ones Lots of companies let you order a bunch of single serve to sample. I purchased a magic bullet and some shaker cups.
Every doctor is different. Most have a two week pre op diet. Some require lots of victims. Strangely mine has no pre op diet except a 24 hour clear liquid. I only had to get centrium chewables for afterwards.
Start "training" now. The hardest part for me was to recognize when I was full and to stop eating. Still struggling with that one.
Lately, I've been experimenting with making purees and eating yogurt. I hope my tastes do change because right now I hate yogurt and cottage cheese.
BTW, my surgery date is 8/20. MONDAY! So today is my last day to "eat". Think we might make a trip to Red Lobster.
Good luck to everyone. Keep reading these posts but remember to follow your doctors orders.

I'm in south Queens. I'm getting sleeved on 8/20/12 by Dr. Yatco in Lenox Hill Hospital

Yay! Same day' date=' same hospital, same doctor!
I only got the pre-op paperwork last Thursday. That was the first I saw about not smoking before surgery. The thing is, I was very upfront and honest with all of them about my smoking, but no one said anything until last Thursday. It's ok. I'm over it. But it was a bump in the road, that's for sure.
I will check out the August Sleevers group and figure out how to do it. I didn't link this account to Facebook because I want to keep these two separated.
My sister said to tell you that not only do you get a sleeve sister, but since I have 4 sisters, you have 5 new sisters! I do hope I get to meet you on 8/20![/quote']
Fabulous. I might drag my hubby to the support meeting Thursday night. I live in south Queens, so it is a trip
I am honored to be your sisters sister. My sister will be there on 8/20 too. Her hubby is on staff at the hospital and promised to be close.
Go to the August sleevers where ya's at thread here and intro yourself. They will get you onto the Facebook page. It's private so anything we post there does not show up on our homepage.

That is awesome Audrey! I am getting sleeved at Lenox Hill on 8/20 as well. Dr. Yatco is my surgeon.
I am getting nervous too' date=' but I'm more upset that i was never told I would need to quit smoking a month before surgery. I just found out last Thursday, and because of this, they want me to have my nicotine levels tested on Wed. I only smoke 5 cigarettes a day, and haven't smoked since last week, so I'm hoping it will be okay and the surgery date won't be affected.
But I didn't really get a chance to wrap my head/heart around not smoking. I was accepting of the not smoking post-op, but blindsided about not smoking before.
Aaaaaaggghhhhh, listen to me whining. You would think I smoked 5 packs a day rather than 5 cigarettes, lol.
I'm excited that we are having our surgeries done the same day, same hospital. I think I might go to the support group meeting this Thursday just to have some last minute questions answered.
[/quote']
Same day, same hospital, same doctor!!! It sucks that you didn't know about the smoking. It was in the paperwork we got I think.
There is a large group of us from a thread called "August sleevers,, where ya's at". We formed a secret Facebook page of the same name. Come on over and join the party.
I hope to go first. Yatco said 8:30 but still have to call hospital on Friday. Holy smokes. This Friday
I am so so happy to have a true sleeve sister. Perhaps we will meet.

Hi all. I am being sleeved next Monday August 20th. What do you use to make your foods purée. I have a magic bullet. Is that enough? I hate Greek yogurt and really don't want to eat baby food.
Also, what to you eat on full liquids besides Protein Shakes and yuke, yogurt.

I am new to this site and I'm getting sleeved on August 20th as well. Good luck Audrey!

You are so right. I'm getting sleeved August 20. So soon! Lane Bryant, the Avenue, Mavys Women. I love to shop, even in those stores. Every summer, hubby and I go to the outlets as a date day. Not this year. This is the first summer I have no interest in clothes shopping. Took my 17 year old daughter clothes shopping and thinking that next year I might be table to shop at american eagle too. Cannot wait to find my own skinny style!

There was some blood work I needed to complete before insurance approval. My upper GI was required prior to my dr appointment one month before date My other bloods, urine, EKG and check x ray needed to be done within 2 weeks of my date (8/20/12). Always best to ask you doctor. There is usually a surgery coordinator that knows everything!
Good luck.

So you lost 11 pounds in a week? wow <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />My usual plan was this:
lunch - fresh lunch meat and cheese - no bread
But somewhere I strayed with the whole "omg I'll never eat any of this stuff again" and bad food crept back into the plan.
I DO feel like I won't cheat once surgery comes into play' date=' it's just kind of been the mindset that I still can eat this and never will again. But I'm setting myself back on track TODAY.
Thanks for sharing![/quote']
Sounds like. You were not getting enough Protein and food to satisfy you. I had the same problem. I'm going to try to follow Aaron's plan.

I am currently on the way to losing the 36 lbs I have to lose before I can get a date. I met with my nutritionist last week and she gave me an amazing plan. I've lost 11 lbs so far and haven't been super hungry.Breakfast' date=' Protein shake
Mid-morning, Protein bar
Mid-afternoon, shake
dinner, lean meat and non-starch vegetables
Evening, protein bar
It's certainly not "easy," but it's very doable and has worked well for me so far. Good luck![/quote']
Excellent plan. I start my self imposed 2 week pre op diet tomorrow. I copied this down.

This is excellent advise. Very clear "formula" for success. Mind if I write it down. I have a list of thing to live by on my iPhone.

I'm excited to announce that I just got my surgical date has just been given for August 20th at 7:15 . I'm so excited to start my transformation and began my transformation <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> If anyone has any reccomendations or advice I welcome it <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />)((I'm also having my sleeve done on August 20th. 8:30am, so I'm right behind you on line lol. Two weeks from this Monday!! , I've been playing around with different Protein drinks, got a supply of a few different ones, not too many of each. They say that our tastes will change afterwards.
When my kids were babies, we use to make chicken Soup and strain the life out of it so it would flow through a bottle. My mom did that for mee and froze 1-2 oz servings.
Are you traveling far? If so, you'll need to pack I'm having mine close to home, NYC, so I just got a new bathrobe with pockets to hold my insulin pump in the hospital.
Good luck sleeve sister! Join our group on Facebook. It's private and called "August sleevers, where ya's at, VST group".

I had a PET scan and the lung mass is suspicious for cancer.I will see and sugeon and oncologist on the 2nd... so no surgery... sleeve surgery that is... for me for a while. My best to you all. I'll be thinking about you all and wish you the best on your skinny adventure. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />[/quote']You are in our hearts and minds.
