Lasuber seems like you're doing good! How was the process with BCBS AL? Mine get submitted Monday!
-
I have BCBS AL as well and paperwork will be submitted Monday. My bmi is 58 I'm just so scared that they're gonna say my obesity is pre existing! I didn't have insurance before I got this policy in January through my husband's job. I'm praying for an approval quickly after Submitted.

I go to my appt Monday and they will submitt everything that day! I'm having so much anxiety because I'm scared and I need this so bad. My bmi is 58 with several comorbidities and I pray this is enough to get an approval. I am 38 with small kids that need a healthier mom. My baby is 2 and my son is 7. I need this so bad and I pray that this get approved. If denied it could only be for pre existing I'm thinking...and then I would probably have to wait until January, I need this now! Say a prayer for Crystal!!!!!

Thanks! Yes I will get the reimbursment for some of july..but really was banking on July and August reimbursements to pay my oop expenses...I see why they say "Don't count your biddy before they hatch;) no matter what the outcome I gotta trust God!

I'm so thankful that my insurance is through my husband's work, because I'm laid off from my job today..and btw I work in healthcare! I'm so worried about approval and now this! I'm worried about my out of pocket expenses! Because I was depending on a mileage reimbursment drom work to pay them...don't know what I'm gonna do...say a prayer for me.

I'm preparing myself just in case they do say its pre existing. My 12 months will be in January and I pray I don't have to wait. As. Many times as I've called my insurance about the requirements for surgery...seem like they would have mentioned if I had a clause. And another thing..they paying for my 6 month diet visits... so I hope they approve me! I been trying to get surgery 2 years and my hair is turning gray from worrying about(seroius) i m up all times of the night can't even sleep some nites.

It all depends on your policy. Some have a 3 to 12 month supervised diet and some don't. Most require a psych eval, and nutrition consult, and sometimes your surgeon will require different labs and test. The best thing to do is check with your coordinator, or even better. Check with your insurance your self to be on the safe side.

My coordinator told me that in order to get approved I had to show I been obese for the past 3 or 5 years...so of course its pre existing, but as long as I haven't went to a doctor to be treated for obesity and I never have. So I'm so confused!

Thanks! That's what I'm going to do pick up my records and I hope all I have to do is the endoscopy, but my things will be ready to submitt like next week!
-
Hello! I did send an email requiring about changing surgeons to another facility about a week ago so yesterday the doctor called me himself....very nice, patient, gave me a lot of info. He does require a endoscopy is this normal? I don't have reflux. So I do have a lot of decisions to make.

This is what I'm worried about. I have BCBS AL. I haven't seen anything about it under my requirements. I wonder can this be appealed?
-
Yayy! So happy for u!!
-
good!! You'll get aapproved!!!!!!!
-
That's great! I have my last appt of the 6 month diet and then an appt on Aug 7 to submitt to insurance. Good luck on your journey!
-
Look at the bright side of it..at least you have insurance and don't have to travel out of the country. many would love to be in your shoes. Count it all joy. Good luck on your journey.

All depends on the insurance company because I've read on a forum where someone was denied for being noncompliant with the 6 month diet.
-
Thanks! My 6 month diet is done with my provider not my surgical office. It was required by insurance not to be done by the surgeon office.
-
I'm just wondering would it be difficult getting my records from one surgeon to the other? As far as what's making me uncomfortable HONESTLY reading these forums and experiences and when I met him he was very very nice but something just didn't click, and that most of his testimonials are Lap Bands.

Has anyone changed surgeons? Did it prolong your getting approved. Nothing has been submitted to insurance so I figure now is the best time. I just don't feel comfortable with my choice:(
-
Hello I'm at the end of my 6 month diet requirement I've done all the other things just have to do my last weigh in on the 24th of this month then August 7th go to an appt to have everything submitted. If I changed surgeons is it difficult and would it prolong my surgery. I met my surgeon and he was very nice and knowledgable but for some reason I have felt uncomfortable.
-
Wow! This is disturbing. I'm using Dr.Pinnar but honestly he was very nice and patient when I talked to him. Good luck!
-
It is ridiculous! As far as the compliance...my coordinator told me they wanted to see that I at least made an attempt to follow a diet for 6 months. I seen on a forum some where that a lady didn't lose a lb and they denied her for being non compliant with the 6 month supervised diet. I hated doing the 6 months but it will help u in the end to get rid of old habits and adopt new ones. Give it a try u can do it:)

Depends on policy. Mine states 6consecutive months with no less than 30 days apart. Good luck to you guys:)
