    Migraines And The Sleeve?

I do not knwo what your doctor allow but mine did not want me to take anything the morning of surgery unless it was for blood pressure. My guess is they don't want anything in your stomach when they operate. I was off of my medication for one day. They give your ice chips and sips of gatorade the day after surgery so I was able to take my medication then.

    Caffeine?

Thank you for your guidance. I will just avoid it altogether and have water or gatorade today.

OMG, truly a blessing for you to have pursued weight loss surgery to have found the cancer. I pray that it has not spread anywhere else and that you recover soon.

    I Need Some Advice

I have to say it is weird having a 1/4 of a popsicle and being full. I feel gassy and keep walking but nothing passing today. Maybe if I lie in bed and put my knees up, that helped before. Last night I had a dream that I had a couple of bites of a hamburger and was full. Weird huh?

    I Need Some Advice

Dorrie I think I was dehydrated in the hospital believe it or not. My head felt like it was going to split wide open. I noticed my IV bag had the same amount of fluid all day. Change of shift nurse came in and I pointed that out. She checked and my IV was clamped. I hadn't received any fluid for about 8 hours and nothing to drink because I wasn't on ice chips yet. She opened my IV wide and I got a full bag rather quickly and started eating some ice chips then Gatorade. The headache lessened.

That is good to know. I went to bed with a headache but it seems to be gone this morning.
  8. I had surgery so this would be my 2nd day post op and I'm wondering how much is too much fluid in one setting. Beyonce (my sleeve) is nice and warm after sipping a cup of chicken broth. I was able to sip it in about 10 minutes and the cup is a small coffee cup. Am I ok to do this? The cup is probably about 6 oz.
  9. Thanks, maybe I'm sipping slower than I thought.
  10. I followed my pre op diet for 5 days then cheated and ate a regular meal. I was very strict with my 3 days of clears before surgery though and I had one bout of nausea immediately after I had surgery and was walking the hallway. Other than that no nausea and almost zero pain.

Slightly different topic. Has anyone had post op headaches? I have had one since the day after surgery and can't get rid of it. My pain meds don't touch it. I'm hydrading so not sure what it is.
  12. I have a hole where the drain came out today. I was told to wash my sites with soap and water and cover with a dressing daily. I'm I freaking out over nothing about the fact that it looks like a small hole and if I wash it with soap and water that it may become infected with the soap and water getting in it? Has this ever happened to anyone?

    Hot/ Exhaust?

I agree, sounds like dehydration and heat exhaustion. Rest and get some fluids. Hope you feel better soon.

    Blood Clot

OMG! I am so sorry for you. Hope you get better soon.
  15. I am so grateful that that I have the help and support of all you wonderful ladies when I have questions. Thank you!
  16. Your surgeon will most likely place a small bulb shaped drain in one of your incisions. This drains the extra blood/fluid from around your new sleeve. It may be a little uncomfortable, not really painful. When they remove it slowly it doesn't hurt.
  17. Karen, Minkle thank you. I won't be so freaked out in the shower tomorrow. It just took me so long to decide to get my Beyonce that I don't want to get an infection or have any complications.

Janedeaux, you can name yours Sasha. I think that is Beyonce's alter ego. Beyonce is going to help me bring my sexy back. I have felt like a frumpy, middle aged, overweight woman the last 10 years.
  19. Did soap and water get into the drain hole? I'm sorry, I know it seems like a weird question.
  20. Yours didn't get infected by not changing the it for 3 days? Mine is draining. I can see pink underneath the dressing.
  21. I'm glad you are feeling better. Sorry you had so much pain. Hang in there, it does get better. I'm 3 days post op and feeling a little sore but better.

    I Need Some Advice

I walked around plus the gast strips helped me pass the gas. I sipped in very small sips. Hard to explain but if you put the liquid to your mouth and almost suck/inhale a small amount that passes your lips, its almost like a tiny sip. That helped me. I found that when I sipped too big, Beyonce (my sleeve) did not like it and I have a little uncomfortable pain going down. Just rest as much as you can and focus getting the fluids down. Gatorade and broth may help as they have a little sodium which may perk you up a bit. Good luck
  23. I had surgery on Monday the 25th with Dr.Garcia. Everything went well. The staff at the hospital were nice. My room was really clean but there was old blood on one of the side rails which I pointed out and they cleaned immediately. My only beef is that I didn't see anyone wash their hands before they came into my room. The nurses do wear gloves when doing dressing changes. My bed was pretty uncomfortable but what hospital bed isn't. Dr. Garcia was just a doll. He is so sweet and take the time to explain things to you. I was also seen by a general practitioner MD and the anesthesiologist. They pulled my drain today and I left the hospital after two days and am now at the Marriott which is ultra comfortable. I slept 3 hours in the comfy bed when I got there. One of the things that freaks me out is the drain incsion. The other two incisions are sutured shut but the drain incision is just a hole. The doctor said it would heal and they don't sew it shut because it has been open a few days. I know you can't sew an incision shut past a certain time but it kind of freaks me out. What if I am showering and washing the inclsions with soap and Water like they instructed and the soapy water gets into the hole? Won't it get infected? Any advide by anyone who has gone trough this helps.

    Any June 25Th Sleevers?

Feelling pretty good after surgery. Walking and using my incentive spirometer. My sleeve I a bit grumbly. Gave her some ice chips. I only have 3 incisions. The Dr said my liver looked great and was very small.
