  1. Weird, I know. Before surgery, I had implanon and currently do. Between June 2010 and May 2012, I only had 3 periods. I have had three since my surgery in May 2012. I have lost 42 lbs, to date. It seems like my longest and most stubborn stalls magically break half way through these week and a half long periods I've been having. It seems contridictory, since most women gain weight during that specific week. I had not lost anything since June 20, almost two months ago, and BAM. I wake up this morning 4 lbs lighter. Just an observation! I was just curious to see if this is a trend with women sleevers.
  2. I had surgery on May 24, 2012, starting out at 270 lbs at 5'10. I was on no pre surgery diet. I was only on liquids for two weeks afterwards. By July 30, I had lost 40 lbs! Unfortunately, I have been stalled ever since! I formed a few bad habits with sliders foods and laxity on exercise. I started, two weeks ago excercising as I should five days a week with either Zumba or C25K. I also stopped drinking any empty calories like Sweet Tea, or eating slider foods like Pringles. Even after that, AND taking a fiber supplement everyday, I've YET to move. I'm probably worrying for no reason, but it is hard to see rapid weight loss come to such a sudden and long stop. I have lost two inches around my waist since my stall that started in July. Any insight, ladies and gentleman?

    Thank you all for the tips! I was not assigned a NUT after surgery. Only a 2 wk, 6 wk, and 6 month app! I am so thankful for the advice I find through the boards.

    Thank you do much for the encouragement! I am also going to post my before and current pic. One in the silver dress is before. I am now 230. I have gone from size 20 pants, to size 16. I am blessed for my progression, so far. I just want to use my tool successfully.
  5. Hi, you all! I am SO glad to hear all of these taller and "bigger structured" sleevers are eating around 1500 calories, like me. I had surgery on May 24, 2012. I have lost 40 lbs, but I've been stuck at 230 for a month and a half. I am so frustrated, like the quentisentail staller. I have been doing more Zumba and C25k to try and speed things a long. This can't be all I lose!
  6. Hello. I have a dilemma. Right now, my husband and I are both full time in school and he also works week nights. With our hectic schedules and living on one minimim wage paycheck from week to week, I've found that sometimes I just don't have an option but to go with fast food, unless I want my third cup of sugar free pudding for dinner. He will graduate in the fall, and go straight into a job training program which should help ease up the financial situation. My question to all you sleevers is what has been the most effecient, but healthy options when you've had to resort to fast food post op?

    Ohhhh. You mean in general! Haha sorry! Mine was at 17. I'm not condoning underaged drinking by any means, but whenever I did until I was 21, it was either at my house, NOT on the road, or at a trusted friend's parents house. The mindset was that at least if we were going to drink, we'd be supervised and not out where no one knew where to find us. Also, parents never provided it to us. That was up to our finding.

    When Did You

    I had mine about four weeks after surgery, and it was just a sip! It seriously burns my stomach and goes right through me. It is awkward going to bars and your friends and bartender asking, "Oh, you don't like your drink? You've barely touched it!!". I cannot throw them back like I used to. There's no room, and my tolerance has become soooo low!
  9. I was sleeved on May 24 of this year. The first two weeks, the weight came off vigorously! I wish I could say the same since then. Fortunately, a measly 25 lbs makes the biggest different already in how I feel physically and mentally. I am steadily losing ounces day by day, so at least I've not gained or completely stalled. Keeping the faith! These are before and after pics so far! The one in the silver dress is before.

  11. Hey y'all! I was just wondering, for those of you who use My Fitness Pal on a daily basis, what percentage of your daily nutrition has been Protein? Also, I know that too much of fat and carbs are "BAD", but if those make up 2/3 of the whole day, which one is worse to have more of? I try to keep my protein at least around 20%, but it make me cringe to see the carbs percentage. I might add that I set my calorie goal to 800 cal a day. Every time I complete my log for the day it gives me a "starvation mode" warning.
  12. That was what I was thinking. My doctor never gave me a set amount of protein that I need to be getting. The most he said at my follow up appointment was to be eating three meals a day and limit snacking as much as possible. I feel a bit lost compared to most people here on the forum. I guess I must educate myself. I only saw the dietitian once and that was while I was still hopped up on pain meds day one in hospital, and she just gave me a gastric bypass nutritional info packet, and said to go by that. It was disheartening.
  13. Hi! I was just wondering if any of you have discomfort at the site of any of your sutures while doing Zumba? I am four weeks post op and was released to do any physical activity, so I had my first hour long class yesterday. I loved it, but during the jumping parts, my surgical sites were a bit tender.

  15. I am not trying to scare anyone from having this done, by any means. I have had the best most painless recovery except for back pain until today. I have eaten very slowly, monitored head hunger vs head hunger, and have just been generallly VERY aware of what I'm doing and how I'm feeling. I am two weeks and four days out from surgery. Tonight after eating a very tender 3oz hamburger patty, I began having sharp pains that almost seem to make me lose my breath about thirty minutes after my last bite. I have just been sitting here since waiting for it to subside. Of course, the first thing that came to mind was a leak. I am just a little paranoid. There almost is like a "gurgly" feeling in that area. Not just those weird sounds and feelings I've had post op. I have no fever. Should I just let it slide and if it is bothering me tomorrow, call my surg?

    I didn't buy them, but this person I believe just bought some kind of regular Water bottle container of her liking and took a sharpie and other shiney sparkly stuff to label the times.

    Hi there! I had surgery at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital with Dr. Clifford Black of Anniston General Surgery Center in Calhoun Co, AL. I do not reccomend Stringfellow. Dr. Black and his staff are awesome, though.

    My doctor progressed me from liquid/mushee to soft easily chewed solids last week at my two week check up. He said as long as I could chew very thoroughly and eat slowly, anything should go. He really enforced any kind of softer meat for Protein, so my mom cooked up a really tender hamburger patty for me. I know compared to most on the boards, my eating progression seems pretty fast paced. I have been on anti acids since day one of surgery since I also had a hiatal hernia repair.
  21. Amy, once you start seeing that weight fall off and the look on your loved ones faces, I PROMISE you'll no longer regret it. I was so emotional the first few days after I got out of the hospital, most likely because I had 50 mg of of Demerol every two hours on the freaking dot for 48 hours straight. My intense pain was actually the gas building up in my back muscles. It was HORRIBLE, especially after coming back from recovery. I was so bad and the nurses were idiots. My mother had to be Big Bad Momma b***h. Untill she got them to give me my pain meds, it was so bad she had to pull my hands out of my hair because I became a bit delirious from coming off the anesthesia and pain that I tried pulling my hair out. :/ FORTUNATLY, I recovered wonderfully throughout the following days.
  22. Hi! I am day 16 post op. I guess the most unexpected thing for me was the fact that even though I'm eating such a tiny amount in comparison to my husband or other people, I still take almost just as long to eat. I also am still in that "grieving" process. Eating is no longer as intensely pleasurable as it used to be, but after a few days I'm learning to accept it. Eating should be for survival for the most part. There is nothing wrong with great taste, but that is what got me to being 270! I'm down to 252 today.

    When You Have No Choice But Fast Food...

    Thank you all. I am two weeks post op, and comparatively speaking, my doctor has been really lenient on me. I was on liquids for three days, then on puréed until now. I go back today and he's supposed to tell me to start on soft chewable items. My dietitian has only seen me once in the hospital and gave me a Gastric Bypass post surgery packet, and was like ,"Here you go, we use the same eating plan for the first few weeks..." Needless to say, I feel like I'm having to learn everything I should here on the boards. I guess i have to get out of the mindset that if I'm buying food to last all week, I'll be wasting, obviously not able to eat it all. Inevitably, this will happen and I'd much rather be eating healthier even if I can't eat all of it.
