  1. I was terrified before surgery! The night before I made peace with it. I put together my file with my POA's ect. And told myself I need to do this for the sake of my life! When I got to the hospital I just tried to be my normal joking self with everybody which really lightened the mood then the nurse asked if I was ready, I said Yeppers! Then all the sudden I woke up in recovery lol. I am 11 days post-op and feel amazing! They said walk as much as possible, so I did. They say drink 64oz and I set a timer and made sure I got it all in. I spent the last 4 days in Vegas and walked about 6mi a day! I am a huge believer in the walk/sip as often as you can! I am exhausted by 9pm but other than that I feel like I never had surgery!

  2. Jogging @ one week post- op? Seems to me that would be pushing the limits of your healing. You may feel great, but no clue what damage you may be doing to your surgery site. Scary thought... Be careful. They don't tell you to take it easy just to be wasting air. There's a reason!

    I asked, they said I can't do any damage to the site and it's based on my pain leftover from surgery. Which mine is basically gone. I redid day 1 of the couch-to-5k program. Mostly walking and then a lite jog to keep the heart rate up.

  3. Well, got back from the 1 week follow-up today and everything is perfect! Down 15lbs from surgery and 55 since 4th of July!!! No pain, no nausea, getting 40-50g of Protein, and having no issues with liquids! My labs said everything is fine but i'm a little low on Vit D so I just stopped and grabbed some gummies. To Celebrate i'm going for a nice jog! Then off to Vegas tonight! ;)

    Huge thanks to everyone on here and especially Dr. Kim and all his staff at Trophy Club!!!!

  4. I had surgery the day after you. I am struggling to get fluids in. So far just 20 oz today. Just broke down crying after fixing dinner for my family realizing how far behind I am on my fluids today. I am so scared of being put back into the hospital for dehydration. I am trying to sip all day but after I get a pain in my chest for a few seconds. I am just starting my second bottle of crystal lite. But this has NO Protein. I guess I should be using the Isopure to get fluids and Protein at one shot.

    I found the red one to be good! The blue one I plug me nose when I sip lol

  5. I had surgery on Monday and had my struggles with liquids bit I make sure I ALWAYS have Water in my hand and I constantly sip sip sip. Today in 12hrs I have down 108oz and 40g of Protein from Isopure (glass bottle) Propel and broth. Am I doing damage by having way more liquids then "goal"? I still have very dark urine so im trying to stay hydrated but my liquid quantity vs what others are saying is freaking me out a bit. I dont want to cause damage but I dont want to get dehydrated

  6. Monday was my day as well! Unfortuneatly, I have drains on boths sides of my diaphram, so all most all of my pain is from those. I went from a band to a sleeve, so he wanted to make sure any Fluid in there was out! I've been on drugs most of the time because of the pain (TG), but am trying to function without them a little more today. I'll get the drains out on Monday & I know I'll feel soooo much better then. I just keep myself focused on the future weight loss.

    You're doing GREAT, Donny!!! Keep doin' what you're doin'!

    Thanks Much! And the drains dont sound like too much fun :( but im sure they will be out soon enough! Its a small sacrifice for the rest of our lives!

  7. Im the exact same! With most sips I burp and I use the gas x strips as well. Im jealous you are having cream soups! My directions say I can introduce the a few days to one week but never got clear direction so im sticking to the one week philosophy.

    And Butterthebean, I cannot wait till I get to do a 5k and im really going to focus on a sprint triathlon! :D

  8. Welcome! I started very similar to you. I was 385 when I went for my first appointment, I am 6'4". I am identical to you in health aspects you stated. and I weighed 345 on Monday, when I had my operation. I have had 0 complications and an extremely easy road to recovery. Haven t even cracked my pain meds! I understand your concerns, and the complication rate is very low and you seem liked you would be going in fairly healthy. Always keep in mind the fact you may not be able to keep up and play with your daughter and the unfortunate statistic of how people suffering obesity pass away younger then usual. I don't mean to be depressing about the last part but your quality of life could be so much better with the surgery!

  9. Mine was 14 days long and I got through it easily, here's what I did....

    * vanilla and chocolate powder (4-5 times per day)

    * PB2 Peanut Butter powder to add to chocolate shakes

    * I made coffee and cooled it then mixed vanilla powder and caramel SF Torrini Syrup in and poured it over ice :wub:

    * lots of SF Jello

    * I got sick of chicken broth so I bought a family size can of chicken noodle Soup and poured the broth out then kept adding Water to the noodles/chicken mixed it around and strained it out again x2. I restrained that mixture and used that as broth, way more seasoned! I also added Mrs. Dash for some zip
