    Tricare Prime

I have tricare prime europe region. I was banded May 23 of this year. Insurance covered it 100%. My doctor put in a referal and a letter of medical nessity. I had seen a nutrionist once and within two weeks of talking to my doctor about lapband I was approved. I tell you this because alot of people are told they have to fo six month seeing a nutrionist before insurance approves it with tri-care but that it not a requirement. I barely even met bmi requirements the day of wiegh ins infact the day of surgery I was actually under bmi requirements and I still was 100% covered. I did however had several co-morbidity. I had weight induced athma, acid reflux and a couple other things. The first time my doctor put in the referal she did not put in the medical nessity letter and tricare told me they needed that all I had to do was call my doctor and ask that she submit that and as soon as that was submitted I was approved within 5 days. You may want to find out if your doctor submitted that because without that its really hard to get approved with tricare

    Nsv - 120Km Bike Ride!

wow what an inspiration you are. That is amazing, thanks for sharing. I still consider my self a new bandster and have to admit I havent done much excesise the last five month but I recently quit smoking and I'm hoping that over time I will be able to increase my endurance and tolerance for excercise. Can you recomend somthing wheater it be certain foods or anything that might give me the energy to excersise. I'm consuming about 500 calories a day and its hard to find the energy to even just do my normal day activities and I am constantly getting sick all the time. Its weired cause all though my athma is far more controlled than its ever been I keep getting upper resportoy infections.

    Fill Number 5

for me it has been several ahaha moments. I was told by my doctor its normal cause your band loosens as you lose fat around the stomach.

    Tootight?

how long has it been since your fill. I know everyone is diffrent but it often takes me a week to two weeks for the swelling to go down after a fill. Maybe it justvtakes me longer to adjust to my new size bites but I usually stay on liquids for 5-7 days then add mushies after that and stay on mushies 5-7 days. After that I introduce solids slowly. I dont know if this could be the case but just thought I'd share my experience just in case your in the same boat

    Do I Have A Leak?

I'm sorry your going through that. I have 9.5cc in my 10cc band. I was banded may 23 and have lost 53lbs. I have not really excersized much. My point being is the band is a tool but keeping up on your fills like you have been the band should be doing most of the work for you. I mean dont get me wrong I think everyone of us has adjusted to our new eating habbits. My guess is you could have a leak and as far as the doctor scamming you I really hope thats not the case but if its not a leak then maybe. I would try and find out if its a leak and its not see another doctor and ask him why your not filled as much as you thought because if you had been filled that much it probally would have been pretty smooth sailing. Honestly the band should be helping alot and the fact that its not would make me concerned if it was me. All I can really say is be proactive ask questions and if need be seek a second, even third opinion on the matter. This is your journey and you deserve to have a doctor who can explain to you the cause, reasons and solutions. Good luck
  11. I really like the premixed muscle milk lite. It contains no milk. Is a hundred calories, 0 grams of sugar and 5 grams carbs. It doesnt have the clumps in it that alot of premade ones have.
  12. mine were 3,5, and 1.5 in a 10cc band.I have 9.5 in a 10 cc band. My doctor explained to me once the fat around your stomach goes down you loosen up a bit. my restricton is good usally for a bout a month and the more I loose so looser it starts to get but now that most of the fat around my stomach is gone I should only need like .1 cc if any at all on my other check ups

For Those Who Paid For The Lb Thru Insurance...

I have tri care but am in Italy so it may be little diffrent but for me I dont have to pay for any of my fills. I do know tricare is diffrent from region to region so you may want to call tricare and ask just to make sure because like out hear seeing a dietian and getting test ran is not a reqiremeny but Ive heard in other regions you have to see a dietian for six months just a thought so you know exactly what your region covers

    Large Fill Volumes

It all depends on your doctor as long as your not to tight your fine. My surgery was May 23 I had my first fill on July 21, my doctor put 5cc in on my fist fill July 31st and I just got my second fill yesterday of 2cc yesterday. I have a 10cc band.

On Your First Fill, How Many Cc's Did You Get?

I just got my first fill August 1st. My doctor put 5 cc in a 10cc band. I go back around September 1st.

    Tricare Waiting Approval How Long?

Tri-care is diffrent region to region. I have tri-care prime in Italy and from the time my doctor put in the referal to the time of surgery was a little less than a month. I did not have to weigh in, do the psycological eval or see a nutrionist for 6 month. I dont know why it differs from region to region but it does. I was right on the cusp for bmi requirements but had cormoditys so my doctor had to send in a letter of medically nessissity. I suggest asking your doctor about this because maybe it might speed up the process

Lower Bmi: 5'5 And 219lbs. Anyone Like Me?

I just had my surgery on may 23 2012. I started at 217 lbs and am at 180. A little over 35lbs in 9 and a half weeks. I still have forty five to fifty lbs till my goal but am hopefull. I am five foot four and would like to be 130-135 lbs. My first fill was on August 1st and just got 5cc put in and it has jump started my weight loss again. I dont think Im in the green zone yet but am finally feeling restriction. I know if I excersized regularly and made heathier choices it probally would come off quicker but as far as my will power it kinda sucks for the most part I eat healthier but if I want to eat a slice of pizza I want to be able too. I havent excersized a whole lot because of my athma and my joints still hurt. I belive its an excellent tool for lower bmiers. Thus far besides not really drinking soda any more and picking things with reduced fat or fat free lables honestly I havent had to change much. Im sure once I get closer to goal it will be tougher but thats okay its a good tool though.

How Long After Surgery Can You Get A Fill?

No Fill At 2Months Post Op

I understand the frustration I was banded May 23 and have only lost 35 lbs and my doctor has yet to give me a fill keep in mind I lost the first 25 in the first month I am very impatient as well. Its getting harder and harder for me not to over eat. I am hoping my doctor will give me a fill soon cause if I let my self I'm sure I could eat a house. Ive gone from 217 to 182 and I thought I'd be atleast 170 by now. I guess I guess I am a slow loser. I know I should excersize on a regular basis but I usally only get in about once a week but it's still very hard on my lungs and joints but I guess I am just going to need to start but it would make it alot easier if I had restriction cause I tend to over eat when I excersize since I have no restriction.

    Sugar Free Energy Drinks

I would talk to your doctor. I think most doctors say no carbanation but my doctor says its okay if you pour it into a cup and let the fizz die down but in moderation.

    Question

Okay, I just got the lapband may 23 and I am trying to excersize and stretch more but ever since I was a kid and I bend over or try to touch my toes or even lean forward my sternum tightens up so bad. I have to raise my hands above my head and stretch upward as high as I can just to get it to stop. I dont think its weight related because even when I was thin it happend. Is their anything I can do to pervent this and does this happen to others? Im not sure if theirs somthing I can do the strengthen the area or what. Any advice is greatly appreciated
  22. Ultimatly the choice is yours but it is an excellent tool. I was banded may 23 of this year and have gone from 217 to 188 so far. I am eating healthier for the most part but I'm not perfect and I like food but when I do eat something I shouldnt the qauntity is much less and this is without a fill. I have been on so many diets got to my goal weight and gained it all back which for me is exactly why I allow my self a cheat day for me I dont want it to be somthing I fail at. I'm still very new to the band so I dont know about the long term effects on the band but It does help with eating smaller portions. I actually wish I would have got it sooner. The hardest thing for me was the not drinking soda. My doctor actually say I can have diet soda if I pour it in a glass first and let the fizz die down a minute but I just cut it out completely cause Ive read on here most doctors say not to. I trust my doctor and deffinatly think he knows what hes talking about when it comes to the band being as he was one of the founders but I would rather not take any chances kinda speak. Honestly as far as surgery goes its diffrent gor everyone some go without any pain for me even though it was laproscopic it was the most painful surgery I had had but very quick recovery after about a week I was pretty much back to normal. In the beggining I was choking on water so I actually thought the first day, what the heck did I do but that thought changed relitivly quickly. Like I said Im still very new to the band and at times I get frusterated with the pace of my weight loss but I do know its my fault the weight loss isnt quicker I only excerize two or three time a week and I dont eat perfect but I am still losing but very slowly. I didnt have a preop diet and I didnt have to see a nutristionist or get a bunch of test ran before my insurance approved me so the only thing I could say is if you go through with it do as much research as possible. I wish I knew and found this sight before I got banded so I could ask all the hundreds of questions I had. Sorry for the novel but I hope this helps
  23. I was banded over a month ago and I went in today thinking, or rather hoping I would get a fill but also knowing probally not gonna happen today from a prior discussion with my doctor but then today he told me he wants me to email me in another month if Im not loosing weight I can get a fill but if I am then I will need to wait longer. I dont quiet understand I am doing this on will power. Is their anyone out their successful who never needed a fill or didnt need a fill for several month. I am just looking for support and hoping Im not alone and that this is normal. I know I should trust my doctor but Im a bit frusterated cause I havent lost a single pound in 9 days.

Help My Doctor Doesnt Want To Give Me A Fill

Yeah I tried talking to my doctor about it and he wants me to lose the weight by mostly diet and im a bit frusterated cause if I was great a diets i wouldnt have been banded in the first place. Granted I eat much healthier and avoid take out. I will eventially fail if theirs never any cheat days. Another frusterating thing is his goal for me is 150. Ive gone from 217 to 189 and Im 5'4. 150 is still considered over weight for me and just last year I was on a diet and went from 236 to 145 and as soon as I stopped dieting and eating actual food I gained the weight back. Im not sure why he wants my weight to be that. I really want to be like 135 but he doesnt want me to go that low. He says its about health not weight. Im just so confused right now. I dont want to feel hungry and fail at this. I know this is considered bandster hell but I thought I would have gotten a fill by now and the only thing my doctor seems to go by is if your loosing any weight but ofcouse if Im stuck on this very bland diet, meats without sause or seasoning, bread without buttet or jam and vegitables with out dressing and Im excersizing Im probally gonna lose weight. yogart has to be plain ect.. ect.. oh and no sugar ever not even fake sugar. I'm so confused. Is the idea so I learn to eat to survive vs. eat to live maybe sure but to have to eat like that my whole life. What if I want to go out to eat with my hubby on our amniverssay I cant. I knew this would intail alot of change but I guess I just didnt realize how much. I thought it would be more like a calorie and amount thing, like not seasoning on my chicken why? it doesnt increase the calories, i understand the sauce. Is this the same for everyone?
