  1. I've read about a fruit flavored Protein packet that's approx 20-23g of protein. Anyone try any? What ones do you suggest? Where can you purchase them? Any I can buy from a store (gnc, complete nutrition? Instead of online?? Thanks in advance! I have tried chocolate shakes and vanilla shakes. (The bariatric advantage).. I can't seem to choke them down anymore. So thick! need a change!
  2. Patience.. that's what I have to learn!!! (And stay off the scale) The stall finally broke. Lost 3 lbs this week.. I will take it!! Thanks to everyone that replied.. I know this is a journey for each of us and I love love love hearing from everyone! Its not only inspirational but I've learned so much!! Happy Friday!!
  3. HW: 223 5'2 Surgery: 10/12/12 Today: 160.4 Down 62.6! I was on a stall for about 10 days.. grrr!!!! So glad it finally broke!
  4. I have 2 kids (age 5 and 9) and we house to teenage boys who play for our local hockey team (age 18) plus my hubby who is a farm kid and will only eat meat and potatoes. I too worried about cooking our family meals. The first few weeks were the hardest. Only because I was sick of mush! Now I am 12 weeks out and its nothing for me! I love to cook and still cook our big family meals. I can eat most everything in moderation and small amounts. The things I "liked" (examples: cake and bread) doesn't even sound good. You will have different feelings towards food! Or at least I do. I learned that food is fuel for me not something to comfort myself with. Good luck!
  5. Love this app! Makes me more reliable and its a great food/water tracker! Feel free to add me. Jilllorraine86
  6. I also tried a consignment shop. I took in 25 plus pairs of jeans... they only were going to take 5 pairs because they don't take "tommy jeans" they are too old. Lol! I am out of style!! Which is the truth! I can't find anything in stores that I like... anyway, They offered me 16 dollars. But the one pair of jeans I was buying was $22 (not name brand either) so I skipped it. I know they need to make money but the teenage girl was kinda rude. So I decided to decline their offer and take them to the goodwill.
  7. Anyone using the fitbit with myfitnesspal? Pros and cons? And I noticed there are a couple different fitbits to choose from.. help!
  8. I am new to this.. please add me jilllorraine86. Thanks!!
  9. We do expect the weight to "fall off" after surgery. Or at least I thought that. I tried to mentally prepare myself for a slow loss because my sister had went thru this and it took her awhile to hit her goal. I have only given it 11 weeks. So.. when I look at the whole picture I am thankful. Its when I look at the daily or weekly results and see that its slowed or stopped it gets me a little wound up.. until I remind myself again that this is not a miracle its our tool and will help us through this journey forever not just today!
  10. Thank you! Got it!!
  11. Could I have a copy of the list too please? Jillkirk86@gmail.com I need more protein! Thank you so much!!!
  12. Awesome! Sip sip sip and walk walk walk! congrats!
  13. I have been fooling around with the same weight up a few ounces, down those few ounces, and then maintaining for a couple weeks. I have read about stalls over sbf over again.. and knew it would happen.. but needed to vent!! Ugh! I know I should be super excited about my 60 lb loss. But I still have a good amount to lose. I would rather lose a few ounces a week than see myself gain and lose and gain and lose.. that's crazy! Grrrr Ok.. rant over. Hope everyone has a great new year!!
  14. I personally have only told a few people, and wanted to keep it quiet. One of the reasons I decided this was because when I first was going to look into surgery and looked to my friends for support, I had only gotten negative comments in return. I didn't want to deal with those comments when I was going through an already tough decision. I have heard everything from "you're not big enough" to "you're gonna die on the table" to " you will lose all your friends because people that are fat that are now skinny change their personality and think they are too good for their friends". However, I have lost a few pants sizes and people notice this..and still talk. But I am more confident in myself and I am trying hard to just ignore the people that say negative things.
  15. Awesome post! I too have had a great experience! I have felt great! I also went home the following day after surgery. I walked and walked in the hospital. I was on Tylenol the day after surgery. I hated taking liquid meds because of the flavor so tried to ween myself off quick. Lol! I had surgery on a Friday and that following Wednesday (4 days) I was back at work. Good luck in everyone's journey!
  16. I love reading these... as sad and rude as people are! I wish i could be mean and say what I really think to people! Last Christmas I went with my husband and his coworkers for a drink. I ran into a high school classmate. He has never grown up and pretty sure the bar stool was his permanent spot. He said " wow, you were always the skinny sister.. now your sister is small and you're fat!" I couldn't think of a "nice" reply so I kinda laughed and shrugged my shoulders. Well my sister had rny a few years back. And I was never "skinny" but much smaller 20 years ago. Haha. Anyway.. I would love to run into him now and remind him of how stupid and immature he has always been... ohhh save my breath! This journey is about us and only us.. no one can take away how good it feels to get healthy and lose the weight we've all struggled with!
  17. Welcome! I love love this site! I started this journey back in March 2012. I had to jump thru insurance hoops as well, in fact I had to change surgeons 2 months in. (God works in mysterious ways:) ) in June I met with the "new" surgeon and I couldn't be happier! Office staff and himself were night and day different. He also changed my surgery plan, as I was originally wanting the sleeve. (I couldn't have the sleeve because i had GERD). Long story short... I had my surgery Oct 12th and could not be happier. I had a hernia repaired and the rny surgery with no complications.. and have not felt this good in YEARS! I didn't know I had so much pain from acid reflux and... its completely gone! The insurance hoops are the worst part of the surgery! Ask any questions you have!!
