    Friday Weigh-In!

Highest weight: 223 10/12/12 Date of surgery: 206 Today: 170. As of today I am officially 53 lbs lighter than the day I started this journey. I am 5'1, so goal weight is 120ish.. I am 36lbs lighter since surgery 7 weeks ago. I worried I was losing slow just like a lot of us! ..(I am just anxious and wished this weight would just fall right off) haha!! but who has lost 5 lbs a week on any other diet? I feel great!! Congrats to all of us!!
  3. I had surgery Oct 12th, I am down a total of 48 lbs (including my peril diet) which I am excited about. I went from and 18/20 to a 14 pants size. My problem is..I do not know how to take a compliment. I went to the dentist for my regular cleaning and was shocked that they all knew I had the surgery. (I have only told a few people) I work for an orthodontic office so I believe that someone from my office shared the news. I am not ashamed of me having the surgery, but when I walked in all of the girls came out to "check me out" .. it was like I had a new baby. lol! I was so uncomfortable! I would have loved to just run out. Last night I went to a wrestling meet and people there gave lots of compliments.. I.was able to say thanks and walk away. I have a fear of them asking lots of questions that I just don't want to answer. Does anyone else feel like this??
  4. Hello Bethel, I am 6 weeks out from surgery and can tell you that the scale is worse than the food addition. I can't wait to get on it to see if I had lost that day.. but have mentally prepared myself and i don't "expect"to lose! The days I do lose are happy days! The days i didnt lose can be too.. since i wasnt expecting to lose. I have read and read to stay away from the scale as much as possible, which is a great idea! But really hard for me. My phone app I use won't let me target for more than 2 lbs a week.. and says I all be at goal by the end of April. So, I follow that. I have lost more than 2 lbs a week but I know that's going to slow down, or I am preparing myself for it to. My only advice is not to expect a huge loss, some people lose their weight slower than others. And that is ok!! GOOD LUCK!!

    Getting Frustrated!

I am 5 weeks and was craving pizza too.. can you have crackers? I was told a starch at every meal.. but surgeons are all different! I took 2 Ritz crackers and a little pizza sauce with cheese and microwaved them. it was a quick and easy yummy meal!

    Felling Yucko!

Oops.. phone cut me off. I have not eaten mayo before and think it's probably what made me feel so Yucko!! I will stick with what I am used to. Lol. I have just started introducing some new things and maybe I'm being to quick with that. I need to stick with the basics for a bit yet. Thank you all for your replies and support!!!
  7. OK.. So I don't think I have ever felt "dumping" but man do I feel like yucko after eating lunch today. I ate some tuna fish for the first time. (It was from Subway tho) and I think it may have had to much fat?? I am unsure. But it is kicking my butt. I just feel like "flu" like symptoms. anyone else have this trouble with Tuna? I was doing so well, eating and drinking and this past week I have just felt yucky after eating. I am 4 weeks out, and I don't know if my tummy is getting more and more sensitive? or if this is normal to start "rejecting" more things. I have never felt sick with any foods I have tried (even tho I stick to the basics) until this week. I just seem a little more picky. Just venting.. hoping to kill time to feel better. Jill

    October Surgery Dates

I did! I had 2 nights I felt like I had an air bubble stuck there! Crazy, because I had no gas pains in the hospital and 2-3 days later I had shoulder pain. Mine didn't last long, so hopefully yours will be gone soon too!

    Can I Eat This?

I am on full liquids. My surgeon has 5 stages so I am a stage 2 in his book. I wish there would be some kind of universal diet. I understand they all have different ideas etc. I see the dietitian again Thursday and move to mushy foods. Can't wait!!
  13. I'm always afraid of trying things that aren't on the menu. But the menu has hot cereal, jello, creamed soups, pudding, yogurt. Is Wisconsin cheese soup a cream soup if I strain it? Cream of chicken is getting old. What are you all eating on this diet? Ready for a little change up, but am in no mean ready to harm myself. Thanks for any suggestions!

    Sleeve Vs Bypass

I agree! I too wanted the sleeve. After a long discussion with my surgeon he change my mind. I too had a hernia and terrible GERD. (Acid reflux) So I was not a candidate for the sleeve, as the sleeve can make heartburn way worse. I also have stomach issues that run in the family so I didn't want to have something irreversible. if I ever were to get stomach cancer, or other stomach issues I would be out of luck! Scary! The sleeve however does not have malnutrition issues, less chance of dumping (still can), and not as restricted on what you eat. I chose rny with my surgeon. After researching more I am so glad I did! I am however a newbie! Just a week postop. I've decided the greater weightloss and retaining the weightloss was my goal. I have lost weight and gained weight on diet after diet I didn't want to go through a surgery with not much restriction. I felt like I would again fail. Good luck in your journey. This was such a tough decision!

    Pain

I had my surgery on 10/12 and also am a big baby. I took pain meds for only the first 2 days after surgery. It was mainly for muscle soreness. I still can not lay on my side or tummy.. so sleep is not great! I also am getting tired of liquids! I would like to have a little more assortment. Anyway.. Regardless of sleeve or rny they still cut your tummy muscles and fill ya full of air. I researched and researched on the sleeve and rny. I really liked the sleeve too! Until I talked to my surgeon. I had a hernia with TERRIBLE gerd (acid reflux) and he said that the sleeve wouldn't have been option. However I would think recovery from either surgery is probably about the same. good luck in your decision! Only you know what's best for your own body.

    October Surgery Dates

Conrgats to us all on our successful surgeries! Whoo hoo! and Good luck to our october buddies that are coming up soon! It will be here before you know it! We all knew that there would be challenges along the way. We have to keep positive and remember that we did this for a healthier longer fun life! I had my surgery on Oct. 12 and I have very little pain. I do worry about the amount I am taking in. So I decided today I would drink a Protein shake for Breakfast to start off my day. I have had no feeling of restriction with Water or the 4 oz shake I drank (of course I sipped it over a period of time) I by no means come close to the amount of protein I have read some peoples surgeons require. My surgeon does not worry about protein so much these first 2 weeks. But I don't want to loss my energy etc.. so I decided to beef up with 1 Protein Shake in the morning. How is everyone else feeling? I have read a few people with regrets.. and I hate to hear that! Chin up! You can do this.. and there are going to be challenges along the way for each of us. Stay positive. Talk to your surgeon and see if the feelings you are having aren't something he can help you with. My surgeons big lecture every time i had seen him was.. "We are friends for life! We have to see each other forever. If there is anything that you are uncomfortable with etc you need to call, we are here to help!"

    October Surgery Dates

Good Luck to everyone having surgeries this week!
  18. My doctor prescribed a daily stool softer. I am 3 days post op and when I filled my prescription it was 4 huge bottles. I believe its called coflex!? Anyway.. I have to drink 30ml (or 1 full ounce) 2x a day!! Way tooo much! And it tastes horrible! Tastes like black licorice. It about made me sick today. I haven't felt sick like that since surgery. I am going to call my Dr tomorrow, but wondered what you all are taking? Thanks! Jill

    October Surgery Dates

I am feeling awesome! The pain to me is like I did too many situps. Just sore muscles. I have walked a lot and I ate breakfast and lunch good. (stage 2 foods- cream of wheat and lunch was cream of chicken with no chunks) I Drink nonstop and always have ice chips. I can not believe how dry my mouth is!! I am home tonight. Dr. Came in this morning and said he couldn't have asked for a better surgery.. So he said I could go home whenever I felt like it. I waited a few hours to make sure I was really ready! I feel good at home too. Just taking it slow so I don't over do it.
