    When Did They Notice?

I'm really bad at keeping secrets so I pretty much told EVERYONE! People noticed when I got back to work, by that time I had lost about 20 lbs. Now I'm down 46 pounds and people say something almost everytime I work. I LOVE it of course. My husband hasn't said a word, but there is no way that he hasn't noticed... he's just a man after all. It took me awhile to notice myself. I started trying on clothes that I hadn't been able to wear in years and one day they just fit! Now, they are getting too big. The only person that really matters is you. I know I feel so much better and little things like being able to cross my legs make me smile. Of course compliments never hurt anyone either!
  3. So, I'm glad that I'm not the only one that has had this problem. I'm 2 weeks post op. I have been drinking more Water than I ever have in my whole life, so I know my water intake isn't the problem. I haven't taken any narcotics since day 3 post op. I'm guessing it's the multi-vitamin and Calcium. I'm gonna have to decrease the amount I take until I can figure out what the culprit is. I started Miralax and it's pretty good stuff usually, we'll see. It dissolves in any drink and you can't even taste it! Yesterday I almost had to call 911 because of constipation issues and I'm really not one to do crazy things like that. I was so impacted that I almost passed out. I will try not to go into the graphic details, but let's just say it was not a good situation. I'm a nurse so I don't freak out easily, but this was bad! I guess my point is, do something NOW before you end up in the ER! It happens, A LOT! Good luck! Let us know if you find anything that helps you so we can all give it a try! Kim
  4. I was banded on Friday and I agree with the hunger thing. I think it's just hard to adjust to not eating real food right now. I have been good with the diet so far, just bored with the same old stuff. I do find that V8 juice helps me feel a little more satisfied. I just sip on it and it makes me think I'm eating something semi-normal. Hang in there! We WILL get through this!
  5. So, Friday will be here before I even know it! I have to work the next two nights and then I'm off to Phoenix on Thursday with surgery on Friday! The pre-op diet is becoming so normal that I don't even notice it much anymore. I'm sooooooo excited and my patient advocate is so awesome she just makes me feel so much better about everything. I hope everyone has someone that they can talk to about this that has been through the process. If not, there's this site for sure! YIPEE! Kim
  6. Angfay - You're almost there! I am allowed vegetables and a little fruit as well as one lean meat a day so I guess I shouldn't complain! The second week is getting a little easier for me. Good luck to you! You're gonna do GREAT! Kim
  7. I agree, the shakes are too sweet! I can't believe I'm even saying that as sweets are a fav of mine, but I find that I can't finish them sometimes. I have lost 10 lbs. on the pre-op diet so far (only a week in). I hope the insurance company doesn't catch wind of that or they might revoke my approval ! I know it seems tough right now, but it's gonna be soooo worth it in the end! Keep your head up, you're doing GREAT! Kim
  8. I'm so glad to hear from everyone! It has been 5 days since I started my pre-op diet and it has definitely been a little bit of a challenge. I have been good, but I don't really like the Protein shakes much and they tend to leave me feeling pretty hungry... Does anyone have a Protein shake that they like or that does the job??? I'm open to suggestions. Kim
  9. I am sooooo excited to have found this site! I am scheduled for surgery in two weeks and ready to go... a little nervous of course. Still a little shocked that the insurance didn't even fight it! I guess that's a wake-up call all in itself. Obviously, my health is at stake here. I am ready to get HEALTHY! I have never been skinny and although it will be nice, my first goal is feeling better and getting my health in order. The pre-op diet sucks, but I know it's important and it will make the post-op diet easier to follow. Good luck to everyone that is going through this journey. Yay for us, we are taking our lives back!!!! Kim
