  1. I started as soon as Dr released me for exercise and started w/ a personal trainer. I am older and I desperately want to tone muscles and skin and have them move w/ my weight loss as much as possible.

    High Energy Foods?

I'm only 10 wks post op so not sure if my advice will help. However, I have noticed very low energy esp after a workout. #1 - I would recommend getting labs done to see if you are low in a Vitamin. Even if taking Vitamins you could still be low in one. I have a tendency to have low D (pre-op). D and B12 are both add energy. #2 - When I workout ( started 6 wks ago) I was getting "EXHAUSTED" next day and what seems to be working is to up my Protein / Water. I added a 30gr Protein shake pre/post workout... I drink 1/2 b4 and 1/2 after and then next day I am ok. So my 2nd suggestion would be to check ur source of protein and up to 75gr -100 gr and see if that adds energy. Bet others will give more options / better advise!

    Rating Protein Shakes

This might be a tad off topic... but there is another product that I like... it is K2O.. It is like Crystal light but has 5 gr prot. So it counts as water, 30 cal, 5 gr prot and 5 gr fiber. ( 0 sugar but 6 gr carbs)... the pink lemonade is good and mixes in 16.9 - 20 fl oz water.

    Rating Protein Shakes

I like Atkins and Premier... it was the others I mentioned that were all sweet! "oh- Yeah" is the name of a RTD protein shake. I just re-read and figured out u might not have realized that!

I agree I couldn't drink it. I threw 3/4 of it away as well!

    Celebrate Vitamins

I take Celebrate pre and post VSG. It makes me feel a little sick sometimes as well. I noticed the "cherry tart" was worse 4 me. So I recommend trying other flavors. I also eat small bites of it and chew real well b4 taking another bite. Not sure if that helps but mentally it helps me. (LOL)

    Rating Protein Shakes

I've tried several RTD shakes... here is my list and thoughts ( of course everyones tastes are different and historically I have NEVER done shakes! hated them ) Atkins RTD ( milk chocolate and dark chocolate royal ) -- I like both. negatives to this are lower protein 15grams and higher fat. But I like! Premier Protein (chocolate) -- I like as well. Very similiar to Atkins but higher protein 30gr and lower fat! Oh Yeah -- Only tried this one 1 x -- VERY SWEET tasting! but u might love? This is one of the RTD that I learned about from "the world according to eggface" which has AWESOME recipes!!!! for shakes and foods! Highly recommend her blog!!! EAS --chocolate -- didn't care for this one. got 4 pack and gave the other 3 away. Muscle Milk --It was ok. I was able to drink it better if I blended w/ ice and made into more of a milkshake as it was a bit sweet.

    Slider Foods

Thanks for this thread and the explanation - I needed it! I actually thought slider foods was like yogurt / prot drinks .. etc. Things that went down easy. But just discovered that I could eat corn chips/tortilla's as a slider food. Yikes! Wish I had never learned this. I will definitely move them to the "AVOID @ ALL COST" especially since I know they are a trigger food 4 me anyway! Back to the dense protein.

    Premier Nutrition Shakes

I like Atkins but decided to try the premier prot since it has more prot and lower fat. It is "ok"... I can taste the prot (I think) while drinking but it doesn't have a bad aftertaste / just a smooth choc taste w/ the choc version. I can do it. Still prefer Atkins milk choc.
  10. Ok, so what is your favorite HIGH Protein food ( low carb / low fat) I've been leaning toward high protein but also high fat ( red meat / cheese / greek yogurt ). I know I can adjust those 3 to the lower fat versions. But what else ? I've never liked cottage cheese. Taste might have changed and I might try again? Suggestions on ways to eat it that are yummy? I don't mind experimenting and learning new tastes.... so let me know what you would recommend!?

    Exercise / Energy

I am 7 wks post op.... Overall I've been GREAT!!! until this past wk. I started working out w/ a trainer about 3 wks ago. First 2 wks I think she went relatively easy on me but last week she pumped up the workout. I worked out w/ her on Tues and then Wed I barely made it thru the work day and was in bed asleep by 7PM. Thurs , I worked out and then Fri I think I was asleep by 6PM and a nap on Sat. And actually I'm still sore today. My energy level PLUMMETED the day after workout. I assume I should make sure I'm getting all my vitamins in / up my water / increase my calorie & protien intake. Any other suggestions. I am a single mom to a 7yr old. Can't afford to have NO ENERGY! I don't ever recall in my life having my energy hit a wall like that. I mean it was either lay down and sleep or pass out. It was that bad!
  13. I 2nd Barrbdoll and Trixie2012. I was sleeved on 5/28 by Dr Ortiz @ OCC and I have done AWESOME. Actually the decision and anxiety b4 were much worse than the surgery and recovery.
  14. I follow "the world according to eggface" blog and she drinks them. I did try one but like quite a few of the others said it was real sweet. I probably won't buy again either. But I HIGHLY recommend her blog! She has great recipes!

    Plane Flight Home

I am 6 wks post op... had 2 flights to home ( left 8AM arrived 11PM) so long day. I was worried but did great! Like others said... had G2 now for TMI comment -- ( which was glad I did since I had my first BM that AM and needed the G2) And also got aisle seat. Due to longer day/flight I packed shaker bottle and Syntrax nectar but never used it. Had Soup in airport w/ friend for meal! I was on full liquids by that day! Also didn't use wheelchair others suggested as I felt like walking when I got the chance!
  16. I did it w/ a slim jim. I was in soft phase but was afraid it wouldn't agree w/ sleeve so just chewed then spit out. I've since had one and actually ate it. Did fine w/ sleeve and I don't eat them often!
  17. I think it depends on "clothes" as well! I was in lots of stretchy clothes so can still wear those. However noticed jeans and khaki's show bigger difference.

    "really!"

I too work in a "mans" world and deal w/ comments that would be completely inappropriate in any other work environment. So completely understand your position and why you would not go to HR. We have a similar situation in our office. Male co-worker is GOOD friends w/ female co-worker and her husband but says very racial comments to her that are very offensive. There are several of us that have started intervention and pointing out the comments are offensive to us as well and we support her and wish he would stop saying them. We are all good co-workers. It does seem to have helped a little but not much! Do you have co-worker friends that can "GET UR BACK!" when he makes such awful comments. The guys seems to have a way of "commenting back" to shut him up. As I am female I normally just look disapproving @ him and remind him my precious adopted angel would be very offended if she heard the comment. He loves children and his grandchildren. Sometimes there will be a chorus of us reminding him he needs "diversity training."

    Flying Home

I had a long day of traveling... 2 flights w/ layover in Chicago left @ 8:30AM and didn't arrive @ destination until 11:30PM that night!!!! But had no trouble. The slight issue was finding something I could eat. The best option I found was brocolli cheese soup and I used spoon and got the cheesy broth of the top only. Then had a frozen yogurt. ( I was on full liquids by that point from surgeon plan). Also drank gatorade g2 to make sure I had electrolytes. Figured I could monitor food intake better once home but that got me thru the trip!
  20. I lost 1st wk but stalled 2nd week until my body adjusted. I am on wk 3 and lost a little more.... From what I hear this is normal!
  21. Scubadottie -Don't think you will need much recovery so ENJOY your time in MB w/ Mom! I did AWESOME after!!! I am 3 wks post op and still not having any issues. Just introduced soft foods and while I do feel the restriction a little more and get full fast... I am still in no pain! I've lost 33.4 lbs total! (18 preop /rest post - op that even includes a minor stall while my body adjusted )... Best wishes to you! *BTW -- my friend that had surgery in Nov had a revision and she had a great experience. She was thrilled with her recovery as well!*

    Any Shorties?

I'm 5'2" and start wt was 247, surgery 5/28 wt 229 and this AM 3 wks post -op wt 214. Feeling great / loving the sleeve. My adult smallest was 115 and that was actually too thin 4 me. I am shooting for like 135/140. Since I am older I am very concerned abt the skin not havin the elasticity it used to have. ( forgive my ticker... I thought I updated it but it didn't work. Obviously I need guidance on how to update the thing!)

    Celebrate Vitamin Drink = A++++

I haven't tried this yet but website : theworldaccordingtoeggface.com mentioned Celebrate's ENS shake. I recommend checking her site for ideas and I have ordered a sample of the Celebrate shake. I do take their vitamins (multi/Calcium and B12) I have been happy w/ them until last order. I got the Calcium in the cherry tart. While it taste good on first bite by last bite I feel sick. I will see if I can return and go back to the previous flavor!
