  1. So from my highest weight (April 2012) I've lost about 40 lbs. Within the last 3 weeks I've lost 20 lbs. I see people every day that have seen me every step of the way and no one has mentioned any weight loss???? I have not shared that I had the VSG, just went MIA (teacher on summer break) but REALLY??? No one notices a 40 lb loss? I must live among crazy people! /rant.

sometimes people are sensitive about their weight so others don't mention it. I have gained 69lbs over the last school year only a few mentioned how much weight I have gained. Others didn't mention it at all which has made me feel much better. Take it as a compliment that they may want to respect your privacy. Or maybe they don't want to acknowledge your success.

  2. Had to take it today for my surgery tomorrow. By far the nastiest thing I have every tried!

I have to check in at 1 PM but I have to stop eating today at 6 PM. Plus, I am pooping it all out! I will be starving tomorrow! Did anyone else have a late surgery time? where you hungry?

I was told to check in at 11:45am for 1:45 pm

I will have a late surgery and I afraid of waiting all day without eating.

  4. I'm slated for surgery on July 3rd and started my pre-op regime this Wednesday. Right now I'm supplementing one Protein Shake per day to replace one of my 3 main meals. Next week I'll replace 2 of the 3 meals, then finally all liquid leading up to the surgery.

I have to admit on Thursday I went out with my hubby and had a Rib-eye dinner with all the fixins. I did not feel one bit of guilt about it. I have been doing well since deciding to do the surgery so I did not feel one last harrah was out of order.

I'm back on the lean-mean meal plan and getting my exercise on!

I am suppose to have surgery Juy 3rd also. My Dr. put me on my liquid diet starting next week

  5. Just wanted to share that I just got off the phone with my hematologist and he has finally given me clearance for surgery, he was a bit hesitate since I do have anemia because of my lupus but feels its under control and since i'm getting the sleeve and not the bipass he is ok with saying "She is cleared for surgery".. I almost cried cause I really thought this was going to be the one thing to hold me back from surgery.. Now I only have my psych and nutritionist appt left on June 19th so hopefully I'll have a date Soon!!

Sent from my SPH-D710 using VST

    Congrat! When is you date?

  6. I waiting for approval. I am suppose to have surgery July 3rd. Dr. appt June 14th and I didn't do my testing yet because of a clericial error. I have BCBS and they are updating their system. I have bari benefits but it is showing I don't in the system. Superivor can see benefits. They called my doctor but I don't think it will be solve by Thursday.

  7. I am putting together a list that can help us pre-op sleevers choose which Protein shakes we should purchase. Although everyone has different taste buds I still think it could help  If possible please include store, website, or cost of item if you know.

Which Protein Shakes are the sweetest? I have a sweet tooth

The best Protein Shakes? your opinion

    The good Protein shakes?

    The okay protein shakes?

The don't do it if you can protein shakes?

Thinest shakes easiest to get down right after surgery?

    Highest protein content?

Shakes with the worse after taste?

    Alternative Shakes? Protein bullets?

  8. All good suggestions, I am a MAJOR list maker (on the obsessive side, lol) so I have been compiling every list I can of what to expect, what to take to the hospital, what foods to purchase before hand, etc. I have been keeping a list of mini goals I will have as I loose, starting a blog so that I can remember each day and how I am changing plus it will keep me more accountable, etc.

Even though I am almost 2 months from surgery, I have started trying to limit my sugar & carbs, up my protien, I am reading everything I can get my hands on just so that I am fully prepared for how my body may react and what is the best course of action starting now.

So, if you are like me....these are some things that will not only keep you busy but really get you ready and have less surprises as you go along.

I would love to see your list of Protein shakes if you have one

  9. Well, this is truly a lot of information to take in at once. I get sleeved on the 19th. My insurance required 6 months of nutrition classes. So, I had plenty of time to research. (I too was considering the lap band initially.) Using this weekend to watch people's video blogs & read as much information as you can on this site (and other related sites) might be helpful. I can send you links to vlogs that helped me make my decision, if you want. Let me know.

I'm sure that I haven't been much help, but I certainly understand your dilemma...

Good luck with your decision! Please keep us posted.
