  1. I will try to make this short and sweet! Hi to everyone.......I had the dreadful lapband done in August of 2008. I weighed 200 lbs at 5"3', tiny frame. UGH! Right?.......had great success, No probs, was 123 by March of 2010. Soon the honeymoon was OVER. Pain, burning, constant reflux, draining of Fluid gave relief, putting back in never got to right restriction again. Gained 40 lbs back in year playing around w stupid piece of plastic. Could not tolerate the reflux and constant vomiting any more as of summer 2012. Am private pay so researched and found GREAT Dr. In MX who actually refuses to do anymore bands and specializes in revision surgeries. Flew down alone, was met in San Diego by awesome hospital coordinator who had my name on big sign. LOL! Had fun driver across the Yuha Desert. Was NEVER alone, treated like royalty. Removal of torture band and revision to surgery to sleeve was a success. Band had eroded, found giant floating hernia and tons of scar tissue, which was repaired also. I was at 180 lbs on day of surgery. Flight home not so fun, but had lovely Delta people meet me w wheelchairs at each airport, which I highly recommend. Oh! Surgery was on Sept. 24, 2012. My recovery was slow, about a month and half to get back to 100%, but that is just me. I am rarely hungry, have NO reflux issues whatsoever, and have lost 32 lbs. In spite of flying across the country, I live in SC, it was SO WORTH IT! I am SO HAPPY! I do have 20 some lbs to go but I know I will do it! :)

  2. I DID marry my Dr., family Dr., not Obgyn., or anything weird!!!!!! He passed away and I had a lot of dun on Match.com. YES! There are losers out there, but aren't they everywhere. I am still friends w 2 men I met 12 yrs. ago on Kiss.com from when I was single before. We still email, etc. So.............it can be a good thing. Fortunately, the weirdos USUALLY show their colors upfront, if u are looking. Run fast, run VERY fast! LOL!:) best of luck!!!

  3. I agree w many of you guys who said,, if u NEED a fill and are obsessed w not getting it, WHY did u get the lapband in the first place. Just go on another diet, sure is cheaper. On the other hand, IF u are losing appropriately, u just don't need a fill, so don't ! There is one woman somewhere on here who is positively obsessed w getting no fills regardless, what a waste of money!!!!!!!

  4. Ok, I did make appt. But for Monday...........since I am eating mushies and the weight is falling off I wanted to maximize this a bit. I told em the truth on the phone and they said Mon. Would be fine. This should give me time to jumpstart my second time around wt loss!

  5. You really got some good advice here! Yay........I would disagree w the suggestion to weigh every day however. That is self sabotaging to me. It is normal to go up and down a bit, just w Fluid flucuation, which discourages me. I'd weigh once a wk, in am before eating. Same day and time each wk! Just sayin........... :)

  6. Oh, well, I'm joining this Crowd!! :):) I had a fill on Tues. A wk ago! NEVER had this happen, but Wed. Threw up-and foamed like rabid dog. Th. Went to Protein Drinks and coffee only......Fri. Could do runny grits and mashed pots w shakes. Started bk on bp and other meds finally yesterday, but still can't eat anything else. So.................I guess I'm calling today and asking for .5 unfill. I could fight this, but from all your stories it's just not worth it, and there's no payoff, except negative payback. I went from 6cc to 8 in an 11cc band. Guess that was just too much. But at 6 I could eat anything! So I really don't want much taken out. Ugggggh!

  7. I too am fighting the lbs for a second time. UGH!!!!!!!! I was completely unfilled 11/2 yrs ago, due to and adverse reaction to Fossomax. I had to wait 2 mos, take Nexium and finally got a baby fill, NO restriction! Got another fill, NO restriction. Got depressed and mentally gave up, BIG MISTAKE! Ate for a year and some. Total gain of walk in stupid world 56 lbs! Went back last Tues. And finally got a GOOD fill, too good, I fear. I'm probably going to ask for 1/2 cc to be taken out later this wk. I do think it is harder the 2nd time around. I never was over filled or had any probs w fills the first time around! I am back to level that was sweet to me before, but I'm having probs keeping anything. but shakes and grits down so is not good.

I would LOVE to see more info on this issue. There seems to be quite a few of us and I really think our problems are a bit unique. It's just very different from first time to me.

  8. Hey! My acid reflux has been an ongoing thing since adulthood. If I eat nice bland food early pm I'm usually ok. But, I LOVE garlic and other spices and sometimes I eat late and then it's torture time. Is weird cause really no worse when band is tight. But oh yes mam, it definitely attacks w overeating! LOL

Can't believe I'm having to lose these pounds twice, but I WILL. Thanks for the good wishes and the very same to you. LOOK at every medication other Drs give you for possible interactions w lapbands even if they know. It was in my chart, but Dr. Just didn't notice, obviously :):). A nurse friend is the one who put it all together for me!

  9. I hope u get happier very soon! Sometimes, I have just hibernated a bit also, think of it as a personal mini vacation. I read a lot, and watch movies like a madwoman, and after a day or so, I'm back to me! I guess I am very fortunate, the very thot of food makes me sick at times, WHEN I'm filled correctly. I bet u get there too. It takes a while, I promise. Sometimes w boo boos, but it is worth it! :)
