  1. Just curious - have either of you with Dr. Garcia received any type of written confirmation of your scheduled surgery? I dont know why, but I just started thinking what if I get all the way there and I am not actually scheduled. I mean, we pay our deposit and trust a coordinator that just says we are scheduled.....

Im sure its fine, just wondering if anyone else has received or requested a confirmation of any sort?

If you'd like you can contant Melanie the Patient Coordiator for Dr Garcia at Mi Doctor Hospital (melly@obesityintl.com). She can confirm your surgery date and answer any other questions you may have. I contact her for everything now since my coordinator really leaves a LOT to be desired. I certainly would not recommend them but Melanie is terrific. Hope this helps!

  2. Good luck! I am excited but don't like reading the negative things

Educate yourself based on facts and it will help you sort out the stories you hear. I have done an enormous amount of research on this proceedure and feel like I have firmly in mind the *real* risks and complications. Based on this, my personal risk to benefit scenario is one I'm comfortable with. We each have to come to our own conclusions, but don't let yourself get freaked out by only dwelling on the negative stories. I figure my chances of a plane crash on my way to San Diego is a greater likelihood than dying from this surgery.

  3. I hit 2 milestones today the first being I faxed in my consent forms and the second being that my passport arrived. so' date=' 2 more things to check off my list.....glad the passport is safely in my hands. was able to expedite it without using one of those companies. took 9 days to get it sent in and received back.

Sent from my iPad using VST[/quote']

Hey sleeve sister! Glad you got your passport, we'll be on our way before we know it :)

  4. My surgery is scheduled for aug 3rd with Dr Garcia as well & I couldn't be happier with my decision. Just about a month ago' date=' I was where you are....did not want to go to Mexico & was looking into insurance covering it. The plan I have has an exception, no WLS coverage no matter what. My husband is on the verge of getting a job where his ins would cover it....so I was gonna stick it out.

Then did some research & realized my copays & deductible would be most as much PLUS the hoops I'd have to jump through....all while my health is suffering.

So, I became addicted to this board....you will find so much support & info here. There is also a Self-pay Mexico forum....you should join us there!

I know it's not what we may have imagined, going to another country for surgery....but I have complete peace with my decision ![/quote']

We'll be there at the same time, my surgery with Dr Garcia is on the 2'nd!

  5. I am so happy to read lower BMI information! I weigh about 210' but am only 5'3.

It looks like I will have surgery Sometime the week of July 2nd.

I am so excited to hear how you all get along...thanks again!!!!

I'm one inch shorter than you and 5 pounds heavier. People act like I've lost my marbles to be having this surgery, so I don't tell anyone anymore. My surgery is scheduled for July 2'nd!

  6. Mine grow and shrink with weight loss and gain. I'm only 5'2". When I am 50 lighter I wear a DDD, which is manageable and looks good with the rest of my body. Right now I'm an F which is just plain ridiculous, I'm looking forward to them shrinking. They're not perky anyway thanks to their size and nursing 2 babies, but at least when they're "collapsable" you can stuff them in a pretty bra and not look like you have a bed pillow under your shirt like I do now :)

  7. I just joined this site' date=' I just got my date today July 17!! Cant wait.. I wish I could tell more people but I know what they will say.. im not big enough for surgury and im nuts to do it in Mexico.. im 5'8 and weigh 228 today and have battled all my life with my weight.. im ready to shop in the misses department and buy a size thats not double digits! lol I decided to go to Mexico after a friend of mine did a few months back and had a great experience and looks great! My insurance doesnt cover the procedure, so im self pay. Id love to have some july buddies.. anyone going to mexico? Dr Fernando Garcia? :D Love this site and all the support!![/quote']

I'm going to Dr Garcia on the 2nd so I'll be just a couple of weeks ahead of you!

  8. Hi everyone' date=' I thought I might make a list with everyone's dates next to their names to post here so we can keep track of who is doing what, and when, as we try to support each other. If you have a surgery date and you're happy to be included in the list- please PM me and I'll sort one out and post it here in a little while. I'm sure i can keep updating it too :)[/quote']

July 2'nd, dr Garcia , Tijuana
