    Fluid retention

I was sleeved on the 8th and I'm still holding fluids and still swollen. I don't get 64 oz of water yet though. I have lost 6 lbs since Monday. I just know it may take time at first. Sent from my KFOT using VST

    Tomorrow

Tomorrow is my appointment with my nutritionist because I have finally lost the 60 lbs I had to loose before they would schedule me for surgery! I am praying that everything goes good!! I am a little worried though because when I weigh myself I weigh myself first thing in the morning in my nightgown! I know that clothes add's pounds, as does Water weight you gain through out the day from drinking, hormones etc. I did weigh myself in the outfit I am going to wear (yes I did), and weighed myself between 10 and 10:30 today (my appt. is at 10), and I weighed 3 lbs more than I did earlier that morning. So please pray that they take off for clothes and water weight etc. Or pray that I'm close enough they just go ahead and schedule. I have been waiting a year for this, and have worked my butt off since Nov. 2012 to get down 60 lbs. Once I'm schedule I'll have to lose 15 more lbs, making that 75 total before surgery. They talked about making me do a 4 week pre-opt diet, so I'm not too worried about loosing those last 15. Even with a two week I think I would be OK. Everyone just pray that I can get my surgery date tomorrow! Thank You!!!! PS. would it be too anal of me to take a picture of my scale and print it out so I have prove that my scale weighs me 60 lbs less? lol

    Do you regret?

I am 4 days out. So my only regret is not having my back cracked before surgery. Now I can't and its so out of alignment it's crazy and painful. It's not gas pain either I know the differences. This is a pain I've felt before surgery. Sent from my KFOT using VST

    Anyone In Nky Or Cincy?

I am doing good! I had a rough start but like they say it gets better day by day. The gas pain has been bad but I'm learning to slow down. Monday is a blur to me though. I'm not sure if what I do remember was true or a dream. If it was not a dream I was really out going. LOL. I'm tired of this liquid diet and chicken broth. Just the thought of chicken broth makes me sick. Sent from my KFOT using VST

    sleeved April 8 th

When they say it gets better everyday they are right. As far as pain most of mine is gas, from drinking too much at one time or too fast. I'm not on any pain meds. I am taking it really easy. I walk but that's that only physical activity I am doing. I highly recommend the first week after surgery is a rest chill week if possible. Where you lay around watch TV and chill. Of course aside from walking. Walk walk walk. It will help with gas and blood clots. I walk in place since its raining here. Just remember that everyone is different. Sent from my KFOT using VST

    Scales

Ok I hate my scale. I have a weight watchers scale and I have noticed that the readings are often off. Now I am guilty of weighing myself every day. I know I know. But according to my scales I lost 4lbs and gained 4lbs this week alone. One day I will weigh and it shows I've lost 2 lbs and then the next I've gain 2lbs. Its so frustrating. I know I'm not suppose to weigh every day. Some weigh once a week, some once a month and some have thrown away their scales. I'm just frustrated. Anyone else have problems with their scales?

    Puree Stage - Recipe/ideas

So when you puree food it doesn't change the taste of the food. So like if I puree meatloaf (can you do that)? it will taste like meatloaf? Or if I puree beef stew, or one of those Atkins meals it will taste just like it would if it wasn't pureed? I know a lot of people who only ate baby food, but I think it's because of the look and texture more than the taste of the food.
  11. I haven't had surgery yet, I go Monday but I have been on a strict diet for five months and I'm at the point where I am missing food a lot! These last four weeks have been awful, and I won't be able to eat food with form (that's what I call it.. aka not puree or soft) until June! So I know what you are feeling. I've only had 500 calories or less for the past month and I'm drained. However I have been doing a lot of research, I don't want to go back to my old ways, like someone else mentioned I'm getting surgery to better, and make myself healthy, and I have to keep reminding myself that I'm having surgery on my stomach, and not my brain, and well my desire for certain foods are still going to be here. So I'm trying to find healthy alternatives! I do believe that cauliflower is going to become my new best friend. I've seen so many recipes where you can use cauliflower as a substitute. I've seen recipes for pizza crust, rice, even several for different kinds of "breads" Of course mock mashed potatoes. etc. I've been shocked. Plus there are some veggies you can used instead of Pasta. Egg plant, Spaghetti squash, zucchini. And my nutritionist highly recommends anything made by Dreamfield Pasta! Just because you're sleeved doesn't mean you can't eat good tasty food again! You may have to find alternatives, or eat your favorite foods every once in a while. Also just because one person can't tolerate a certain food(s), doesn't mean you're not going to be able to. Everyone is different, One's experience, isn't your experience. You're going to have your own!

    my weight loss photos

You are looking great, and probably feeling great too!!! You have three pictures so are you about 3 months out of surgery?
  13. I do not have insurance, so I am self pay (I am having surgery Monday and it's actually paid for already). I am so happy I did not have to deal with an insurance company, and having to wait for approval! I did have to do a five month diet though. I've lost almost 70 lbs on it!

    Hair

Ok ladies how many of you went out and got your hair cut after surgery? I know my hair will thin and I hear shorter hair makes your hair look thicker. I'm thinking of waiting until after surgery in hopes my face thins out and I lose my double chin . So anyone with hairstyle websites or pics of cute hair please feel free to post them!

    Hair

Oh I know the damage that bleach can do to your hair. I use to color my hair all different colors, and because my hair is so dark I had to bleach it. So much damage. I regret ever doing that! It so wasn't worth it. I hate having dry hair. I have learned that one of the worse shampoo's and conditioners, that REALLY dries my hair out is Pantene. About six months ago I cut my hair. Afterwards my hair was so soft and healthy. Before it was dry and frizzy. During that time I was using Pantene. Within 3 days my hair felt dry and was frizzy again. About 3 months later I got it cut again, this time I used Dove shampoo and conditioner and my hair remained soft and healthy until I ran out, and used Pantene again, and guess what? Yup dry gross hair. So I have come to the conclusion that Pantene isn't good for my hair! I have decided to cut my hair. Now I'm just trying to find a style. I want something that's pretty, but easy to take care of. Doesn't require a lot of time.

    Hair

I hope they used that new hair paste when they pasted it back together. I hear any other paste can do some really serious damage to your scalp.

    Post surgery questions.

I have not had surgery yet, I go next Monday. However during my nutrition class my nutritionist told us that the gurgling is normal and to expect it. It has something to do with your digestion. She also told us to expect diarrhea while on the liquid diet since the only thing we are taking in is in the form of liquid, it's going to come out liquid. Which makes sense. I have also seen a lot of posts on here about acid reflux being an issue. Making you feel hungry when you're really not, it's just the acid in your stomach. I would talk your surgeon about this. I think most people can get buy with OTC meds they just take them twice a day instead of once. But that is still something you may want to talk to your dr. about.

    Anyone In Nky Or Cincy?

I've had a wonderful experience with Curry's office! The staff is awesome and VERY understanding and patiegont and understanding. Even the poor front desk ladies. I know I have asked so many questions over and over again! lol. I am having surgery on April 8th.

    Grumpy

Is or did anyone become grumpy during their pre opt diet? I am two weeks in a four week diet and starving. I was on a diet before starting this diet. But with it I got 2 meals and stayed satisfied. And ate between 800 and 1000 calories a day. Now I only get around 500 calories and I feel like I'm not losing as much with this diet as the last. I'm also a little resentful of those who can eat normal. Is this normal? I know I need to get use to it. I'm just a baby.
  22. Hey that's 16 lbs you'll never see again. And nothing to cough at. Be proud of yourself. Remember you was pumped full of liquid and gas for surgery. That doesn't leave your body right away. When your body starts to eliminate them you'll lose. Just remember to get up and get walking. Also don't compare your loss to others. Everyone is different and loses different. Stalls will happen but when they do don't focus on the lack of weight loss. Instead pay attention to your clothes and measurement. Your body sometimes needs time to adjust to your loss and often you lose inches instead of pounds. Which we also want! Sent from my KFOT using VST
  23. I'm really just going to vent here. I am scheduled for surgery on April 8. I was told back in November that I had to lose a total of 75 lbs before I could have surgery, and I had to lose 60 of that 75 before they would schedule the surgery. I met the 60 lb goal. So I have 15 lbs to go. From November till last Monday I was on media fast. I started my 4 week pre-opt diet last Monday. I hear of so many people dropping pounds like crazy during their pre-opt diet. So I figured the last 15 lbs would be no biggie. WRONG!!!! The medi fast diet left me dehydrated with low potassium. Even though I drink Water like crazy. I can feel the effects of low potassium. The weakness, painful, fatigue, heavy legs. Sore arms, and but of course constipation. Now my nutritionist wants me to drink between 96 and 140 oz of water a day!!! I am floating away. I guess I am worried that this much water, and being constipated is going to cause me to weigh more or stop my loss. I would really hate to do all this work to lose 75lbs and not meet it. I'm so worried. Thanks for listening to this worry wart. Everyone pray or send me good thoughts. Sent from my KFOT using VST
