8 Weeks Out - Slow Scale Movement!

Your weight loss seems really normal for your starting weight!! Right on track. I scoured the boards and vlogs before my surgery to try to set some expectations. I also started at 250. For that weight (and my height... 5'7") it seemed highly typical to go 20-25lbs the first month then 10 ls a month thereafter (until somewhere around month 6-12 where things became harder). Everyone is totally different, and this is obviously anecdotal, but again and again it was what I was seeing (certainly with outliers!) I'd love to hit 50 lbs maybe 4-5 months in. The higher the weight, the faster it comes off, so don't dismay! I'm not immune to comparing (obviously) but never do it unless it's someone with a similar starting weight and height. Good luck!

    Emily Bites French Dip Cupcakes...yum

They look great! Nice one. I was eyeing the buffalo chicken cupcakes on emilybites recently, but didn't think my sleeve was quite ready for wonton wrappers so made them into bites (crustless quiches) and wrote about it on my blog. They came out so good! I may try to do the same thing with the french dip. At the moment I have too much in my freezer, but next am going to try some ham and swiss...mini quiches with cut up lunchmeat ham and melted laughing cow swiss - all baked up and yummy. So many ideas, so little sleeve room I think a couple more weeks and me and the wrappers are going to spend some time together

    Ricotta Bake???

eggface refers to www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com. She had WLS a while back and posts a ton of her recipes. The baked ricotta is one of them. It's a great site if you're looking for food ideas.

    Ricotta Bake

I made it as well in my mini loaf pan - yum!! I was craving pizza the other night and warmed some up in the oven with turkey pepperoni on top. Fab. Blogged about it, along with pics, if interested. I'm going to try to make the cauliflower pie/bake in the loaf pan next and see how that goes. http://gastricsleeve4me.blogspot.com/

    Ricotta Bake???

Made Baked Ricotta and was successful! (this is meaningful...I'm not a cook ) I blogged about it and posted some pics of how it came out. I used a mini-loaf pan and am loving the little portions. At 4 weeks out, I can eat about 3/4 of one in a sitting. Yum!! I'm going to try to make the cauliflower pie/bake in the loaf pan next and see how that goes. http://gastricsleeve4me.blogspot.com/

    Sushi

Maybe go for some sashimi (eg just the fish?). I've been missing spicy salmon rolls and this week think I'm ready for a piece or two of salmon sashimi with spicy sauce on the side...mmmm!

What Are You Eating At A Month Post Op?

Hey there. I'm 4 weeks Monday. If you go to my blog (see my signature) you can actually see my food logs (link on left once at blog). I'm currently eating refried Beans, cheese, and mashed avocado as I type I feel great. Struggling more with Water now that I'm having more "meals" not just shakes, and wanting to get up to 600-700 calories instead of my current 550.
  14. Hey there! I'm often finding myself getting to 7 or 8pm with all my Protein (90-100g) and fat (10g) met, but at around 500 calories for the day. Trying to be more in the 600-700 range. I've been doing a Protein shake but don't really need all the extra protein (and don't want to cause kidney stones since I'm still capping out at about 50oz of water/liquid a day). I've never been one to drink calories, and don't want to get in the habit...but until I start real food in another week or two, any ideas on drinks that will give me about 100 calories without any fat that aren't awful for me (prefer no more than 5-10 carbs) I'm 3.5 weeks out

    May Sleeve Buddies!

Hi May sleeve buddies! Sleeved 5/21 and was hoping to lose 25 lbs in first month (had seen a number of folks at my starting weight/age who seemed to avg 20-25lbs). 4 days and only 2 more lbs to go to meet my goal! SW 250 (day of surgery), CW 227, 5'7". So exciting to see everyone's progress. Hope everyone is recovering well. Would be interested...what's your top tip you'd want to share? Mine is my newfound love of "bites" (aka crust less quiches) made somewhat famous by emilybites.com and theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. I made my own version of buffalo chicken bites this week and am in heaven. You can see my recipe on my blog if curious. What's your fave tip?!

    Miserable With Bc

I feel you! I did the Nuva ring pre surgery and holy crap, it did me in. Went from happy go lucky to depressed and crying in a matter of days. And I'm not generally sensitive to meds. I typically do ok with the pill, but am crap at remembering. Now that I've got to take so many other vitamins daily maybe I'll give t another go. I'm only 3.5 weeks and single so haven't been too worried about it, but should figure it out soon

    3-4 Weeks Post Op

3.5 here, an similar to others. Beans, Greek yogurt, some "bites" I made (buffalo chicken and chicken enchilada..yum!), hummus, canned chicken, avocado, and Protein shakes. Made eggface's baked ricotta this week as well. If you go to my blog you can see my food diary as well as some blog posts on what I've been eating with recipes. Still struggling to get 600 calories in, but never less than 80-90g of protein a day.

    Mexico Versus Us

I was originally under the impression that I wouldn't be covered by insurance, so I looked into MX and settled in Aceves. He was the absolute right choice for me...though I firmly believe everyone has to go with their gut and different drs are right for different people. Weeks before surgery I met with another local surgeon in the NJ area and found out I could be covered by insurance. I agonized over it. $2000 in copay or $8750 on my own. I put the money issue aside (which I know not everyone can do!) and the dr in the US had such little experience compared to Aceves that I went anyway...and I haven't regretted it for a second. My advice? Ask everyone the same questions. Compare. And go with your gut! The questions I asked are in my blog at gastricsleeve4me.blogspot.com (tab up top) Good luck!
