    What Can I Eat.

I kept wondering what that last post was talking about too........ to funny! I also had my surgery on 4/25/12 and three days ago I had my first omlette. As long as it is health and you are within the guidelines, go for it. We can eat eggs, veggies and cheese so I say cook them together and have an omlette.
  2. I only weigh on Wed and last week I had not lost or gained, I was the exact same weight as the week before. I had only been eating between 700 & 800 calories a day. After reading several posts on here I decided my body must be in starvation mode and I needed to increase calories to 1000 to 1100. I have done that for the last four days and curiosity got the best of me, I got on the scale today and gained one pound. Am I doing something wrong? Should I go back to the 800 calories a day? Any input would be appreciated.
  3. I told only a select few, my husband, son & daughter-in-law, sister and friend.

    Eat To Lose ???

Thank you Sojourner. You have been very informative and I do appreciate you taking your time to try and help me. Hopefully I can use your information to better myself. I also have a long way to go and hope to get on the right path soon. My first fill is scheduled for June 5th.

    Eat To Lose ???

Sojourner, Thank you for all the information. I don't usually eat processed meats like hot dogs but I was at a party and didn't have many choices. I think maybe I could eat more greek yogurt and less cheese. I am getting my daily protein between 60-80 grams. I do struggle with alot of water. I do get plenty of liquids not all water. So my main question was did I do the right thing increasing my calories? Thanks for your help.

    Eat To Lose ???

Axa, If I cut out the things you suggested I would never get my daily Protein in, I usually have a Protein shake on the drive to work and that kicks off my protein for the day. Could you explain to me why I would cut them out if I am staying within the calories and protein limits? Unfortunately, I am not a vegie eater, there are only a few that I will eat. I do love fruit but it has very little calories or protein. I don't have to worry about that time of the month, I am past that point in my life. The PA in my surgeons office said the same thing about using measurement and not focusing on the scale but it is very discouraging when the scale does not move then goes up, down one is better then nothing. Byrd, I have went from NO excercise pre surgery to doing one hour on the Wii Fit and started walking, I am up to one mile a day, I know that is not much but I am working my way up. I have back problems and some days it is hard to go a mile. Thanks everybody for the input.

    Eat To Lose ???

Cindy's mom, I have been eating protein shakes, yogurt, scrambled eggs, cheese sticks, cottage cheese, chicken, fish, soup. Yesterday I had to go to a party and I had one hot dog (no bun), a few baked beans and a deviled egg. I have tried very hard to stick to the list my doctor gave me.

    Cpap Woes

Simon, I always sleep with my mouth open which is why I have a full face mask. I am down 27 lbs since I started the Lap band process but 50 lbs since I got my machine 2 years ago. I have just recently started waking up with a very dry mouth and waking up with a slight headache which goes away after I get up and move around. I spoke to my primary care doctor and we are in the process of turning the machine down from 10 to 9. He also told me that if I wanted to try sleeping with out it I could do that and see how I feel the next day. Hope you find your answer.

    Drinks And Meals

Running scared, I do believe your doctor is the ONLY one who says you can eat and drink? Anyone else have their doctor tell them this? I think I will stick to what I have been told. No drinking and eating!

    Sooo Confused

RunningScared, Wanting to set a good example for your child is a good thing not a bad thing. Sholitxmom, I am sorry I do not live in your area but hang in there. We have just started this journey and it is a slow process. I have heard several people get depressed after Lap Band surgery. Have you asked your doctor about support groups? My doctor has a list of some in our area. Good luck to you and your daughter.

Would Really Like To Have A Buddy/ Mentor!

Ashley, Try crushed ice in the shakes. I throw some crushed ice in when I blend and it helps so much. Also, I could not stand them with water, I use fat free/skim milk and that also helps. Some doctors allow milk and some don't.

    Gas Pain!!!

Walk, walk, walk and take gas-x to help the gas. If you had a hiatal hernia repair you may get some diaphram pain too. As for the port, my surgeon told me it can be sensitive to lay on for 3-4 weeks. Although I could lay on mine after 4 days.
  18. I tried crushing and mixing in applesauce, YUK! I use a pill cuter and cut my larger pills in half, some even in quarters. I have one capsule that I open and empty on to a spoon of applesauce. Most can be cut or opened, if it is not scored just ask the pharmacist.
  19. Lappyloo, If you haven't had the sleep test you don't even know if you need the machine. I had to take my machine to the hospital but they never used it. Good Luck.

    Knee's Hurt Bad, Advice

    Frustrated!

That is the exact reason I only told 5 people, my husband, my son & daughter-in-law (I would never have any surgery with out tell them), my sister and my friend. I don't have people at work watching me because they don't know, the ones I eat lunch with think I am on a Protein diet. Which I am! People just do not understand what it is like to be 100 lbs over weight. It is easy for them because they have never been there. I hope you find some good support, my husband has been behind me all the way. Don't get to upset with Granny, she is from the old school and just does not understand. Good luck on your journey, it looks like you're going right down that to do list.

My Surgery Induced A Shingles Outbreak!

This is going to sound really crazy. I friend of mine told me when she had shingles they covered them in Listerine (yes the mouthwash) and they healed up much faster. Sounds crazy but I have heard crazier. Hope you feel better soon!

    Frustrated

We all need to vent sometimes, I would be very upset also. The doctor was not very professional. He should have made it clear before your surgery what was expected and what you should do post-op. My doctors instuctions after surgery were two weeks of liquids, two weeks of mushies and then start solids after 4 weeks post-op. I know if you feel great and are healing it is hard to understand but your body needs to heal inside as well as out. Don't eat just to get back at your doctor you are only hurting yourself and not him. Sorry you got such an uncaring doctor and staff, hopefully things will get better for you.

    Are Fills Mandatory!!?

Not with my doctor, I was banded 4/25/2012 and I have an appt for a first fill 6/5/12 and a second fill on 7/23/12. Six weeks after surgery and another 6 weeks after that. I am fairly new to this too but from what I have read fills are not mandatory but are necessary to get to the "green zone".
