Shoe_Vixen reacted to VACookey in Oh Diet Coke, How I've Missed Thee...I figured this is a new healthy lifestyle for me and the chemicals in diet coke don't mix with that. So I've given it up completely. A side effect of that? My teeth look FABULOUS!

Shoe_Vixen got a reaction from New Orleans Lady in Did/will You Announce Your Surgery?I've been open and honest with everyone about having surgery. Everyone has been supportive and while there have been a few people to express concern (not negatively) I'm glad I'm sharing my journey. It helps keep me accountable and it's an exciting time for me. Frankly I don't care what anyone says so even if they did object oh well that's their issue, not mine
Good luck in whatever you decide!

Shoe_Vixen reacted to thehappycat in Did/will You Announce Your Surgery?Thank you for all of your opinions and stories!
I've decided to be upfront and announce it on Facebook. I hope everyone will be understanding and a few of my friends might be considering the surgery themselves, so I want to be supportive of them as well. If there's any negativity, I'm going to ignore, although the people who usually comment on my Facebook posts are my close friends who are always supportive, so I don't think that will happen.
Thanks everyone!

Shoe_Vixen reacted to Butterthebean in Did/will You Announce Your Surgery? There are going to be people who judge you negatively for having WLS, it's going to happen. But that's no reason to live a lie and be dishonest. Don't sacrifice your own character to appease others.
Besides, your own openness and honesty will also likely inspire someone else to seek WLS and possibly save their own life.

Shoe_Vixen reacted to Thickiest2Thick in Did/will You Announce Your Surgery?I am the type that do not care what one...thinks or say about me...#onlygodcanjudgeme period...I have told people, and will continue to!! There are a few women I work with ...that u can clearly tell had the surgery...n I asked one of them ...u have lost a lot of weight..what did u do? She replied...cut back on calories a lot! Ok technically she did not lie...but she left out her biggest tool that allows cutting a lot of calories possible. I would not mind sharing that I chose wls, cuz what if that person needs to hear that at that moment in time..n I can help answer any? 'S that they might have about wls...what if me speaking openly about it.. will help them to see it is really nothing to be ashamed of. I think it takes a strong person to admit they have had the surgery when asked... just because a person has a normal bmi do not mean they are healthier then u... so what that being said ....u cares what anyone thinks!!!..Ijs

Shoe_Vixen got a reaction from Lisa Curry in Doing The "i Got My Surgery Date" Dance! So August 20th is the big day!! I can't believe how easy this process had been, my insurance hasn't fought me on anything (knock on wood), the tests were easy to schedule and complete and my surgeon & his staff have been amazing! I'm so excited!
Anyone else getting sleeved in August?

Shoe_Vixen reacted to Lissa in Who To Tell And Not Tell....The very few people who have made negative comments to me soon regretted their words. Especially since one of them was the obese aunt who has had 20 different surgeries because of her diabetes. She made a snide remark about me to another aunt and the second aunt told the obese aunt "Well, how's YOUR diet and exercise plan working for you? Lissa had ONE surgery to your 20!" It seems that it's always the person who has the least "right" to say something negative who does come out with the cutting remarks... and that tells me that their remark is based in jealousy.
I'm VERY open, as many here know, about my surgery and about my journey. If someone else doesn't like it or wants to be negative, they can be negative somewhere else.

Shoe_Vixen reacted to kczar in Who To Tell And Not Tell....I don't think Shoe_Vixen was trying to make anyone feel bad about not telling people. She started her post with the word personally so that's how I took her post - as her personal opinion.
I've started to share my plans with family because, frankly I'm excited and tend to get obsessive about things like this. It's definitely a personal choice who you tell or even if you choose to share with no one.
