    zero weight loss

I'm at a loss, I feel like I should have requested earlier to SEE how much stomach they took out. I just don't understand what happened. I'm from a small town and since my surgery Ive known 3 other women personally who had the same surgery by the same doctor, infact and they have all shed their weight just like any other patient would..not me. One woman I keep in contact with almost daily and she would tell me "Amber, how in the heck are you eating that much??" I'd show her pics of my steamed veggies and salmon etc and tell her 2hrs later I'm hungry. It was making me think something was wrong with me but the PA's wouldn't do anything accept say I was a slow loser and then put me on diet pills about 40 days ago. I was supposed to see my sugeon earlier this month and when I showed up they said they had mistakenly put me on the PA's schedule. I'm supposed to see my surgeon again and this time I will demand to see him if something changes.

I just had my sleeve checked yesterday. The man who did my upper GI said my stomach is "Of average size, not tiny." He actually thought I was there pre op, not post op . I am due to go back to my sugeon in acouple weeks and ill see what he says.

Great advise, I would do the exact same thing. Thank you.

I don't know what to think. At one of my visits with his PA they mentioned that he does everyone's stomach the same size but I personally never got to see a pic of after surgery. He's a very well known surgeon so I just have no idea what's up. Onething I do know is I want some questions answered and I want this fixed.

So..after two more appointments I finally convinced my surgeon to send me out for an upper gi and take a look at the size of my stomach. Results show my stomach is average size. Not small, not tiny, not baratric size. Which confirms how I've been feeling about my portions. I see my surgeon in a couple weeks to see where I go from here. I am SO frustrated.
  6. That was my doc's idea. I don't know if tomorrow they will keep me on or try and see if I can start losing on my own. Some people think its the easy way out to have weight loss surgery but don't understand how hard it really can be. Good luck!
  7. Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. My last couple of visits were very discouraging as well. I am 9 months out with a weight loss of only 40lbs give or take a pound depending on the day. I went in last month again with my frustrations of not losing any weight at all the last 3 months and they put me on diet pills. I said from the get go I felt like I was able to eat too much and my hunger seems to be more than everyone I personally know who has had the surgery. Their solution was to put me on Phentermine for 30days to help hunger and possibly shrink my tummy down if I expanded it. I had weight loss surgery because I was tired of the pills and diets but said ok, and went with it. I go back tomorrow to check in since its been 30 days and have only lost 4lbs. I have no idea what they're going to do then. My starting weight was the same as yours, as well. It can be SO hard to watch everyone else have more success around you. I wonder all the time if I failed my sleeve or my sleeve failed me. I really don't know. What I do know is I watch every single bite of food, drink my protein shakes and get my water in to the point where its becoming obsessive, and that's no good. I hope your stall breaks for you, I really feel for you that's forsure!

I must admit though I have slacked on my water intake throughout the holidays, I find it easier to sit at my desk at work and sip water all day instead of being at home running around with the kids. So I need to get back into the water routine.

I have never heard of the DS I'll need to look into that. My follow up appointments were at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 3months and last month was my 6month follow up. I logged every carb, Protein, fat onto a spreadsheet and bring it in with me to my appointments. Along with that is my Water intake. My Proteins are usually in the 50-60 range. I always eat my proteins first and Id say half the time I have room left for veggie or carb..depending on the meal. I did try once to go to back to Protein shakes 3x daily and lost weight but the second I introduced foods back in my weight slowly went back up. I don't feel like I have the restriction everyone else has...When I weigh my food on my scale and Its at 1 cup I'm still hungry..not starving, but yes hungry.
  10. I had gastric sleeve last June at 297lbs and 5'6 and to date have lost 35-37lbs depending on the day and this weight loss has been exactly the same for the last 3 months. I am beyond frustrated and feeling like a complete failure to say the least. Literally since right out of surgery I felt like things were just too easy for me. I had zero complications ( thank god) I had no side effects or discomforts after surgery I was able to follow my doctors liquid to solid diet just fine. but since the beginning have had extremely slow weight loss. I remember at my 2 week check up I had lost 14lbs and was super happy only to go back 2 weeks later and be the exact same weight to the oz. At every follow up my doctor would only say I am a slow loser, I would bring in pages and pages of my food intake and Water intake and my blood work was done and looked normal. It went from before surgery the doctor was hopeful I'd lose 90-100lbs down to "probably more like 50-60lbs" The doctor said because I was in good health before surgery that the procedure wasn't that big of a shock to my body as if I had diabetes or high blood pressure etc. I'm feeling like I had my very first major surgery for absolutely nothing. Can anybody relate at all?

I feel like I'm the queen of stalls lol so those I'm familiar with for sure. Hope it breaks soon for you! My doctor told me I can go up to 1200 calories...I usually stay around 900-1000.

I should also say I still do my premier protein shake every single morning and lunch/dinner is always a lean meat ( I had tuna for lunch today ) and some form of veggie, carbs are always last on my food list if I have room. Water is now hit and miss for me, some days are great...others I get half of what I should be.

As far as exercise goes I was swimming religiously from july until the 1st week of Sept. and I walk in the evenings. My doctor had made a comment about losing inches instead of pounds and I said, " well that would be fabulous if I wasn't wearing the same exact size I was before surgery still!" I wouldn't mind having loose clothing and not seeing the scale move but that's not happening at all either. He told me long term he'd like to see lose around 50lbs...what?? I've lost 75lbs 2yrs ago on my own in 6mth and had I know the possibility would be 50lbs after major surgery I don't think I would have put myself into potential harms way, honestly.

Boy do I understand the upset! Since my 3 week check up my doctor said I was going to be a slow loser, and that's all the advice he has to give me when I go in still. You hear all the fast losers and success stories so I really had no idea there were even slow losers. At this point my body is done healing and knows I cannot eat a lot and I know what I should be eating so I think, whats up?? Im at the point where I am just embarrassed when people ask me how my surgery is going. If they are my closer friends I just have them look me up and down and I say, " how does it LOOK like I'm doing?" If this weight loss surgery is supposed to be a " tool " to help me what gives? My tools broken, I tell ya. Good luck with your weight loss though, I hope you start getting the results you're hoping for
  15. I had my check up last Thursday and told my doctor every single frustration that's been on my mind and brought my food/water logs in to get some kind of answer or advice but didn't get a thing. 3 months post op and I'm down 32lbs, 10 of those were from my pre op diet. OUCH. So really, 22lbs in 90days is pretty frustrating to say the least. All my doctor had to say was, " Well...that's almost 2lbs down a week, remember I said 1-2lbs a week was your goal?" I went an entire 5 weeks with zero weight loss so to average it out really does nothing for me lol so my frustration continues as to why people around me have lost 40-90lbs and I've lost less than I've done on my own in the past. The whole, " Everyone's journey is different " has been said to me a million times but when do I get to start mine?
