  1. Fabulous job to you both, (Fat)4now and Kimmy! You should be very proud of what YOU accomplished! G.
  2. Oh Dad, I'm so happy for you. We'll be praying for a safe surgery and speedy recovery. Let us know how you are when you can. G.
  3. Oops, your June 9th people fell off the updated list. Shangefan, Gisele3264, ~Donna~, mel2643, Argnewcan, and please add Twhite. THANKS!
  4. Hi Amy and welcome! Thanks for sharing about yourself. You'll get to know some absolutely great people on this forum. We're all here to help and support one another so I'm glad you joined. My surgery was orginally attempted June 7th but I'm scheduled for round two July 9th. Smoggy has created a great list of dates for July people so soon we'll be encouraging and praying for one another as we transition to the loser's bench. Where are you located and who's doing your surgery? G,
  5. Not sure how the VST ticker works. With the TickerFactory one for weight, you just double click on the ticker and it opens another window. You type in your password, date, and weight. Then click next to save and it updates. Maybe this one is similar?
  6. My prayers for successful surgery and easy healing to all the Saturday and Monday warriors. Please let us know how you're doing when you can. @Blondeej - great to hear you're up and back at it! @Dad - we'll be cheering for you and the Tuesday Team very soon! G.
  7. They put a plastic ring in my mouth and told me to bite down on it. I could hear everyone in the OR chatting away and the next second I was waking up. I didn't even have a sore throat later. They told me the procedure only takes about 5 minutes.
  8. Congrats, Patrick. This is an important milestone because it does help it feel real. PROGRESS!
  9. Oh Blondeej, I hope you start feeling better VERY soon. Remember your doctor can prescribe something for the heartburn or reflux. Hang in there!
  10. i am so relieved to hear my buddy is better! Take it a little slower, ok? PM me if you want to talk. I'm really, really glad you're ok. G.
  11. I'm praying for you here. Please let us know how you are.
  12. Naturals, thanks so much for responding. Maybe you can help me as a lay person better understand this. What would have been the issue(s) with proceeding with my esophagus swollen? Never having had this problem before, it was very frustrating. Of course, I've never been this age before. Thanks again. I'm back in the countdown position to July 9th G.
  13. That would be great!!! I'm new here from the June Sleevers group. I went to surgery June 7th but the anesthesiologist messed up my intubation and I couldn't have my surgery. I have to wait a month for the steroids to clear my system so my new date is...July 9th! I'm also changing hospitals so this time I'm going to Dallas. Since I've done the 14 days of pre-ops, I may be able to help with your questions. Please add Giselle for July 9th with Dr. Kim in Dallas. THANKS! G.
  14. Changewithin I can see your posts in forums like this but I can only see your blog comments in my email, so I haven't figured out how to answer you.
  15. MamaM I agree this could end up being a blessing in disguise. I talked to my husband at length tonight and he fully supports me getting over to FP. Thanks to you and all my sleeve family for the encouragement and getting me through a very difficult day. G.
  16. Thank you all! You are the only ones who can truly understand how painful this is for me. Dad, I'm using UHC's Center of Excellence in Decatur. It's the only UHC COE he goes to. I'm trying to get rescheduled with Dr. Kim at Forest Park and just pay 20%. He's not coming back to this facility until July and I don't want to come back at all. But let me say everyone here has treated me SO professionally and compassionately. But now I'm gun shy. And this hospital is an hour from my house, Forest Park is 15 min.
  17. Oh June sleevers! I've had possibly the worse possible thing happen. The anesthesiologist could easily get me intimated. After multiple tries he succeeded but then administered steroids to reduce the swelling. This is unacceptable for this type of surgery so my procedure was cancelled. When I woke u they told me and I burst into tears. I'm now trying to either reschedule with my surgeon here, reschedule where he prefers to go and have the insurance pick up my 20%. Please pray for me. I feel like my whole world is shattered. G.
  18. I read all the posts about people's surgery being moved to an earlier time in the day. Since I was scheduled for 2:30 pm, I sure was hoping that would happen to me. So I almost jumped out of my skin when I saw the hospital's number on my caller id an hour ago. Now I'm scheduled for an 6:00am arrival and an 8:00am surgery!!!! I immediately called my ride and she didn't even blink. Now THAT'S a friend to pick you up at 4:45am and drive you an hour to the hospital. I don't think this day can get any better. Decatur, TX losers, I'll be sitting on the bench waiting for you. We're going to have a great time G.
  19. Vee, it's wonderful to hear from you. I'm being sleeved tomorrow and you've got me FIRED up!!! I'm so glad you're doing well. Thanks for checking in with us. Ready to rock this sleeve.
  20. ~Amy thanks so much for taking the time to update us! I know it's going to get a little better every hour so just hang in there. Dr. Nick did a friend of mine three weeks ago. I had ice tea with her last Friday and she's doing GREAT. She emailed me yesterday that she starts mushy food today. So in a short time you'll be on your way! Congrats. G.
  21. The last day of my 14 day pre op! Hallelujah!!!!!
  22. Patrick, I admire your courage! A self-imposed diet is a HUGE challenge. But I'm also a control freak like you. When the doctor said this is all I'm allowed for 14 days, it became a challenge. Not with my doctor. Unless I was way off, how would he know? I thew down the challenge for myself. I want to walk in this Thursday in complete compliance. You know, like a game with a perfect score? The weekends have been tortuous but I just dug my heels in and looked at the post-its on my wall showing this is almost over. My uncrossed ones are 3, 2, and YAHOO. Looking forward to crossing them out one at a time. Keep giving it your best shot. YOU deserve it. G.
  23. Hi Future! Welcome to the group. This really is a sweet, supportive group. I don't have UHC Community, mine is UHC Choice. They require a documented 5-year history of a BMI 40 or above. I did drop below 40 during the time I was taking chemotherapy, but I also had documented hypertension and sleep apnea (we sent the study.) No other requirements. I can't speak to recovery because my surgery is this Thursday. Best of luck to you and hope to see you here again. G.
