Oh thanks for sharing this. What a wonderful reminder to live it up each step of this journey. Good for YOU!

1. Mid sentence, my husband stops and gives me a stunned look and says I look 10 years younger.
2. My shoulders are shaping up to look like shoulders and I can almost see my collar bones.
3. I put on a dress I think should fit now and it's too big!!
4. I put a third of what I used to eat on my plate and it's way too much.

Same problem here! My doctor recommened Listerine strips pre op. They are a fast easy way to freshen my mouth.

I'm only 2.5 weeks out so it was very exciting to see your progress! You look fabulous

Like Dooter, I'm also a Dr. Kim patient. I've only been sleeved two and a half weeks but things have gone great! I read about the binder and think it would have been helpful but I didn't get around to securing one. I'm moving slowly from solid liquids to purees with no vomiting or diarherra. Just a little gassy when I eat too fast.
I tolerated Water well from the start and I've built back up to walking 4 miles four times a week. I was on an anti-depressant before the surgery and so far it's holding the fort. There are definitely a wide range of experiences for this surgery!

I had capsules for Effexor and planned to do the same thing you did. But in the hospital, they gave me a prescription for Effexor in a tablet. The doctor told me opening the capsule and taking it all would give me the full effect of the drug all at once instead of having a time-release effect. You just confirmed what she told me! Maybe you can get your anti-depressant in a tablet?

You look simply wonderful. Thanks for the reminder that sticking to the basics works. You've done a great job.

liposuction? Talk about totally irrelevant!!! That guy was a total weirdo!! You sure handled it better than I could have. Best of luck to you going FORWARD!!!

Same here except I was on Effexor XL which is a time release capsule. The hospital physician advised that I not open the capsule and take the whole thing because I would the effect all at once. She prescribed a tablet form I now get to crush. Oh well. I'm sure I'll even get use to that.

I hear your pain. I LOVED spaghetti and tacos. I like pizza alot. So I'm only 2 weeks post op but I've been collecting some great recipes from some health sources like skinnytaste.com, emily bites, and the world according to eggface. This includes some wonderful pizza and taco recipes that should satisfy the "taste" of my favorites. I don't know if Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps or Hungry Girl WonTon tacos will satisfy the crunch I loved some much about tacos but salsa fixes much!
Good luck!!

The most important thing you have to cope with right now is healing. For a full week post op, I tried to drink as much of my Protein as I could, sleep, read, walk, sleep, watch TV, more protein, walk and sleep. The rest will come in plenty of time. This forum and my doctor's instructions got me through.
Welcome to the Loser's Bench!

Congratulations on your great weight loss! You deserve to be very proud. As for all the bad luck, well, we all have bad luck. You just cashed in on all of yours for the next 6 months! LOL At least we can hope so, right? What a trooper to pour it all out on this page and step up! Even with the injury, I'm sure you'll find a way to keep succeeding!

For those of you who've already been sleeved, as your incisions healed did anyone get a knot like thing under any of them? I was sleeved July 10th and my incisions have been doing great but I just noticed a knot under the skin right above the biggest incision where they took my stomach out. Its still the most tender of all my incisions...
Yes! I have the same thing, I had my one week post op on Tuesday and asked the PA to look at it. She said it was Fluid under that large incision and it would be absorbed. I find that incision is less sore if I use a pillow to avoid too much movement during the day.

I had no symptoms and they didn't find it during the endoscopy. But they found one during the surgery and went ahead and fixed it.

Oh you should have NO worries about this year. I was approved May 19th and there was still an opening for June 7th. He only goes to Wise once a month I believe. Because of issues with my intubation BEFORE my surgery, surgery was cancelled and I had to wait 30 days. They immediately put me in a July 9th slot at Forest Park (my choice to change hospitals). Got my staples out today and I feel wonderful. I had NO complications

Dr Kim did my surgery. When I found out I was approved, I emailed my surgery coordinator 5 minutes later and she replied in a few minutes with a surgery date. Dr Kim does go to other hospitals because of the insurance. Are either Wise Regional in Decatur or Baylor Trophy Club in network for you? Be careful! My UnitedHealthcare provided ZERO coverage for out of network hospitals for bariatrics. Good luck!

I'm one week post op today (yay!!) and I'm in. The structure and discipline of a self-challenge is what I respond to best.
Consult weight: 235
Surgery weight: 208
Current weight: 203
Goal weight: 180
Yes, it's a new sleeve but I think I have some work to do in order to make this happen.
Log exercise and food in MFP daily
Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes 5 times a week
50 grams minimum of Protein per day
64 ounces minimum of Fluid every day

This is a great idea, Cindy, aka Sleeve Sistah! Of course I'm not ready for receipes yet but having a single place for all this is a wonderful idea! I will certainly get this going to be ready for that glorious day. Thanks so much.

I was getting worried too. I went into surgery 7/9 at 208.5 and came home 7/10. On 7/11 I weighed 205.8. I was so happy!!. Then I lost another 3 1/2 pounds in the next two days. But the last two days, I've stalled out.
But all of you have been very reassuring. I'm having a little more pain since Friday so it's probably some swelling. Thanks y'all, I'll just stay the course.
