    Small Rant

Congratulations! When I read your post, my mouth dropped open. You are doing GREAT! I'm glad you posted this because I haven't told my mother either, and because she lives in another state, I will probably be 6 months post op before I do. I love her madly but she can be rather "disapproving" I'll be interested in hearing how others handle this. I sure don't know how to! Continued success to you G.
  2. So here's a unique perspective (at least I hope I'm the only one.) I stuck to my 14-day pre op diet without one failure at any time. Yes, I was very tired, very grumpy at times, but motivated to give this my all. Arrived for surgery and, because of the anesthesiologists, was not able to be intubated until my esophagus was quite inflammed. I was given steroids, and because of that, my surgeon cancelled my surgery. I was devasted! All my perfection for nothing. I guess I don't control EVERYTHING My surgeon advised me while I waited for surgery to be rescheduled, to drink Protein shakes all day and have a "small, healthy dinner like Lean Cuisine." So I decided I would COOK healthy meals for my husband and me. At first I ate small portions of my healthy meals. But as time went on, my healthy meals became less healthy and my portions became larger. *sigh* I guess I need a sleeve. So yesterday I started the 14-day countdown again with the liquid diet. I'm still motiviated to stick strictly to the plan get the best results, but not for another solid 14 days. I'm having a cheeseburger at the race track with my girls this Friday, and lunch with my Sunday school class this Sunday. All my other days will be perfect and my surgery and recovery will be as they should. There's no tragedy in planned moderation. In fact, it's a lot less stressful. Excuse me. I'm on a liquid diet and nature is calling! G.

    Wow! Soo Pissy!

Yup, I'm on day two also. But this is my second round. My first surgery was cancelled when I was given steroids before my surgery. Long story. Yesterday I was not a happy camper. But when I weighed this morning, my stall was broken and I was down 2.8 pounds! I'm in a much better mood today. I know from the last round this does work as far as weight loss. At the end I was ready to choke my husband, but that was the end so it was ok. We can do this!!! We will succeed P.S. I work at home so it's easier for me to avoid face to face contact during the day.
  4. Day one of another 14 day pre op diet is drawing to an end. I'm going to brush my teeth and go to bed. *sigh*

    Any July Sleevers Yet?

July 9th in Dallas with Dr. Kim. Peppypatty and Mslose, how about you?
  8. Wait! What's the zombie 5k?
  9. The only person who can answer this definitely is the insurance coordinator in your doctor's office. I met my deductible but then owed a 20% coinsurance. They asked for it up front and I was able to pay. If the hospital also wants 20%, I'll ask for a payment paln. They will often work with you but you'll need to ask first. Good luck! G.
  10. Fabulous job to you both, (Fat)4now and Kimmy! You should be very proud of what YOU accomplished! G.
  11. Oh Dad, I'm so happy for you. We'll be praying for a safe surgery and speedy recovery. Let us know how you are when you can. G.

    Hey July Sleevers!

Hi Amy and welcome! Thanks for sharing about yourself. You'll get to know some absolutely great people on this forum. We're all here to help and support one another so I'm glad you joined. My surgery was orginally attempted June 7th but I'm scheduled for round two July 9th. Smoggy has created a great list of dates for July people so soon we'll be encouraging and praying for one another as we transition to the loser's bench. Where are you located and who's doing your surgery? G,

    Hey July Sleevers!

Not sure how the VST ticker works. With the TickerFactory one for weight, you just double click on the ticker and it opens another window. You type in your password, date, and weight. Then click next to save and it updates. Maybe this one is similar?
  16. My prayers for successful surgery and easy healing to all the Saturday and Monday warriors. Please let us know how you're doing when you can. @Blondeej - great to hear you're up and back at it! @Dad - we'll be cheering for you and the Tuesday Team very soon! G.

    Hey July Sleevers!

They put a plastic ring in my mouth and told me to bite down on it. I could hear everyone in the OR chatting away and the next second I was waking up. I didn't even have a sore throat later. They told me the procedure only takes about 5 minutes.

    Hey July Sleevers!

Congrats, Patrick. This is an important milestone because it does help it feel real. PROGRESS!
  19. Oh Blondeej, I hope you start feeling better VERY soon. Remember your doctor can prescribe something for the heartburn or reflux. Hang in there!

Feeling Miserable 4 Days Post Op

I'm praying for you here. Please let us know how you are.
  22. Naturals, thanks so much for responding. Maybe you can help me as a lay person better understand this. What would have been the issue(s) with proceeding with my esophagus swollen? Never having had this problem before, it was very frustrating. Of course, I've never been this age before. Thanks again. I'm back in the countdown position to July 9th G.

    Hey July Sleevers!

That would be great!!! I'm new here from the June Sleevers group. I went to surgery June 7th but the anesthesiologist messed up my intubation and I couldn't have my surgery. I have to wait a month for the steroids to clear my system so my new date is...July 9th! I'm also changing hospitals so this time I'm going to Dallas. Since I've done the 14 days of pre-ops, I may be able to help with your questions. Please add Giselle for July 9th with Dr. Kim in Dallas. THANKS! G.
  24. Changewithin I can see your posts in forums like this but I can only see your blog comments in my email, so I haven't figured out how to answer you.
