    Dr David Kim Colleyville

I had mine done with him 7/9. My first attempt was in Wise Regional where the anesthesiologist inflamed my airway and then gave me steroids to reduce the swelling. Dr. Kim cancelled the surgery because the steroids would make it more difficult to heal. I had to wait 30 days for the steroids to clear my system. Second time I went to Forest Park (they were able to intubate me for my EDG without problems so I wanted to return there no matter what it cost.) They didn't see a small hiatal hernia on the EDG but repaired it during my surgery. Dr. Kim is reserved and conservative and that worked for me. I had NO post op problems, back to work in a week feeling great. I'm VERY pleased!!
  2. I lost 25 pounds on a 6-week pre op diet (my surgery was delayed 4 weeks) and now I'm over 60 pounds 3 months post op. I walk 4 days a week for at least an hour (training for the 3-Day for the Cure), kickboxing on Wed, and weight training on Monday. After the 3-day, I'll drop one walking day for yoga. Weight training to build enough muscle to boost my metabolism and reduce the amount of saggy skin. Yoga to increase my strength and flexibility. I definitely want to be thin but I also want to look and be healthy. My stalls are never more than 4 days and the inches continue to change. The secret? Only do exercises you REALLY enjoy. It may take some experimenting to find it, but it's worth the search! G.
  3. July 9th surgery date and I'm sneaking up on 63 pounds. Need to speed it up because I'm running out of winter clothes that fit.

New Here. Four Days Post Op.

Welcome! Hunger this early can be signs of other things. Sometimes it's just gas so if you were "prescribed" an anti acid like previcid, make sure you take those. Also, it can be thrist. If you get in all your Water, you may find this decreases the "hunger". You're right about different instructions from different doctors. Mine allowed blenderized foods about 4 weeks post op. Good luck and let us hear how you're doing. G.

Hope it breaks soon. On the positive side, I got more compliments than ever this week and my clothes fit better than just two weeks ago  Best of luck to all this coming week.

    Will My Boobs Lose Weight?

I'm 2 1/2 months out and I've seen a big difference in my band size. I was wearing a 42DD sports bra with an extender because it was too tight even though the cups fit. Now I've removed the extender and I'm hooking at the tightest row. The bra is still too big and I've got extra cup room too. Finally! I switched to a smaller bra for day use but can't afford a new sports bra yet.

    Painful Nsv

When I lay on my side in bed, my arm now rests on a hip bone instead of my former cushy fat. It doesn't feel all that good but it looks much better!

    Neosporin & Mederma

I had staples, not glue and used Neosporin without any issues. I forgot I had Mederma for the resulting scars!

    Confession...

I hated it when people told me to use my waiting time to prepare and research. Now I see they were SO right. This is a great place to do both. Move forward and Aetna will catch up with you.

    New Here But Requesting Prayer

God answered all those requests for me and more. I'm praying for and with you.
  21. I don't disagree that teens need our attention and our interest in their lives. But what does it teach him if you "cancel" your life when he acts out? That acting out gets him what he wants. If you reward the good behavior that sends him in the right direction. Tough balance but at least he's not a girl. I had TWO of those. Good grief, the drama!!!!

    Egd

No worries, Nacol. You'll be asked to bite down on a piece of plastic and then you're out. Next thing you know you're waking up. If they do a good job like mine, you won't even have a sore throat later. Goodnight!

#@$& And Other 4 Letter Words

If you're getting all your fluids, getting your protein in the range it needs to be, watching your carbs level, and keeping the sodium in check, I suggest you give the walking a bit more effort. You don't have to work up a sweat immediately but keep building the speed and distance. The exercise will actually help you not feel so weak. Good luck and keep us posted!

    Second Thoughts.

That's exactly what I thought a few days before Dr. Kim's commercial came on my TV. I truly felt he was talking to ME, telling ME I could have a second chance and actually succeed this time. My post op was without complications, I was back at work after a week. I'm two months post op and down over 50 pounds (including the pre op diet). It was the best decision I've ever made for myself. No regrets here.
