    Going on vacation post-op

I had surgery the end of May and went to the beach the first of August without issues swimming or eating..and having a couple drinks, so I think March would be ok.

    Inexpensive recipes

emily bites wonton cupcakes- a ton come in a pack for $2.50 & you can freeze them. Lasagna, taco, cheeseburger, french dip, buffalo chicken, you can make whatever stuff you have in the fridge with them, top with cheese and bake til crispy. Love those little things. Mini turkey burgers. Add unsweetened applesauce and a little dry lipton onion Soup mix, cook small patties on a pancake skillet, open a can or cut up some fresh mushrooms & cook on skillet with a lil worchesterchire sauce. Top on burgers. Another favorite. Split pea soup with ham, chili with chicken or any meat can be frozen-chicken stock can stretch it but I strain all my Soups to get more food bite and less juice. Eggs- eat them every day. Breakfast foods are cheaper than lunch/dinner. Lunchmeat- I love cracked pepper turkey breast from the deli. It's like $3.50 for 1/2 a lb & it can last me a whole week of lunch just eating it by itself. Add a .25 string cheese and microwave and you got gourmet . Spaghetti sauce is another good one to stretch. I make it different every time. Onions, minced celery, carrots, zucchini, squash, spinach, mushrooms, ground turkey, ground beef, jarred Ragu, homemade sauce, all fair game except for noodles. I usually make mine very meaty. The sauce can also be used with some italian seasoned ricotta or cottage cheese in the bottom of a wonton cupcake, then sauce, then mozz cheese, sooo good!

    Bacon is a protein, right?

I've rarely had a Protein shake after month 1, though chike and click in coffee flavors are my 2 faves and delicious in eggface protein balls. I really disliked protein shakes, but it was much easier to get down when I made them with Water instead of milk. The thickness I think was the issue. Yogurt, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and refried Beans are good mushies for the first month. I eat eggs, bacon (yep, love bacon too), turkey bacon, sausage, turkey sausage links, omelets with goat cheese and spinach, vegetable lasagna (zucchini & squash instead of noodles), emily bites wonton cupcakes, steak, shrimp, beef, chicken, pork chops, turkey, deli meats ie roast beef, cheeses, milk, Peanut Butter, beans, chili, nuts... The first couple months are harder but now I can eat 3-4 meals of dense protein and supplement a cup of skim milk or two to get me to 60 grams.

    Newbie...and a little frightened

I went to Mexico and was in the hospital 2 days and hotel 3 days before flying home. I didn't have pain after surgery. I was naseated and threw up blood the first night, which is normal. It's different for everyone. Two days after surgery I went to a bull fight & shopping. Six days I was back at work. It's very similar for me to gallbladder removal if you've had that done.

    Newbie...and a little frightened

My surgery was 7 months ago and it was so worth it. I'm 33 years old myself and I don't ever want to be big again. I did a lot of fad diets myself, LA Weight Loss, Meridia rX from the dr, etc. I always put it back on plus some. My BMI was 52 in May and I think I'm around 31, averaging 15 lbs a month loss more in the beginning though. I couldn't have lost it without VSG. It's not easy, you can eat 4oz of anything you choose too, but eat Protein first and stick to healthier Snacks and it is doable. Honestly, 1 grilled chicken strip & a few bites of veggies fills me up like Thanksgiving dinner and I used to easily put away 2 big plates of food plus dessert. I don't see any long term bad effects, when I lose all my weight I will up my calories/times I eat per day. I started my pre-op diet first week of May with only mushy/pureed veggies & fruit, broth, juice, & Water until 3 days before my surgery on May 25 and that was the hardest going cold turkey off sugar & soda. Then right after surgery learning how to baby sip water and count protein was a learning curve. Now? I'm pretty good at eyeballing 4oz portions and stopping when I'm full and I feel totally normal I just eat less. Good luck on the decision .

    Pissed!

You've lost .57 lbs a day average which is great! Stalls happen (for me a lot) and they suck but your skin & stuff is adjusting during that and as long as you are drinking water and eating mostly protein you will lose. I started at 310 the first week of May, 285 on surgery day 5/25, and this morning was 188.6. 8 full months, 121.4 down.

:( in need of a Consigner

I went thru Lending Club and got a $6K loan and went to Mexico. $202/mo payments for 3 years.
  15. I started pole dancing class around 240 lbs a few months after surgery. The poles at my class hold up to 250 lbs so those wanting to try it go for it!! I still can't do spins with both feet of the ground but it is awesomely fun and I look forward to it every week. There are only 3 poles in my class and no judging. Love it! I chaperoned my daughters band trip back in May to Carowinds on my preop diet and could only fit on a few rides. This year I will fit my butt into every roller coaster they have. I also want to zip line and sky dive .

    Need support

We have the same final goal . Maybe change up what you are eating or increase your calories or protein for a day or two to see if that shocks your system and starts a loss.

    Order Of Events.....

I scheduled my surgery the first week of May & started pre-op diet same day. Immediately made flight arrangements- direct from Charlotte to San Diego @ 5 hrs Got cashiers check from bank- no deposit required. Drs wife picked me up from the airport, border crossing took no time. I stayed 2 nights in the hospital, 3 in the hotel, then flew home. I went back to work the day after I flew back. Toughest part: turbulence landing and no drinking anything before surgery

    Mexico Complications?

I had surgery on May 25th in Mexico. I had no complications and am still in regular contact with my doctor and his staff. I had previously had 2 c-sections, a tubal, appendix removal, and gallbladder removal surgery so I had scar tissue as well.

    Losing Weight No Exercise?

53 lbs is great in 2 months! Just keep doing what you are doing and it will come off. I was 285 on my surgery day and I'm 205 today, almost 6 months later. You are on the right track.
