I appreciated the picture that was posted, especially since I had such a bad stuck episode. It doesn't make you any better that you don't have to do that.

Elcee I agree with everything you said. Everyone is different and will find what works for them. I was told from the beginning to take small bites as well, and chew chew chew!!! Lol. For me this weight loss journey has not been all rainbows. I've had to diet, and watch every calorie, and exercise regularly. I don't think I would have been as successful had I not done all those things. I have also paid for not chewing enough, or trying to eat too fast....man have I paid it's been a learning process. Even now, two years out, I'm still learning. I'm just under 5cc's in a 10cc band and can't have anything more than .1cc added at a time now. I've only had 3 fills ever and the last was unfill! Like I said, a learning experience! I congratulate all you ladies and gents on here that have been so successful. I love being able to come on here and see what others have gone through and go through, etc. I just wanted to respond again because I didn't intend for my original post to come off offensive.

My thoughts exactly Wallflower! I swear I cover my eyes and walk right by it and say "don't look!" Haha! It's so addicting. I used to love putting it on bananas or strawberries...sigh, those were the days PB2 isn't the same but its a decent fix!

Just wanted to go back to the Nutella, lol. It is 200 calories for 2 properly measured tablespoons. And only 3 grams of Protein in that serving as well. I can't even keep that stuff in my house! It's dangerous! I want to eat it by the spoonful! What I have found that helps with my Nutella or sweet cravings in general, is PB2 powder. I like to sprinkle the chocolate PB2 on plain Greek yogurt or if I'm splurging that day I will put some on vanilla ice cream PB2 has way more protein and is only 45 calories for 2 tablespoons. Just had to share ))

Boy I hate when life gets in the way so I come in late on a thread. *wink*
I saw the pic Mis posted the other day and I immediately thought... Yeah that's about right. Ii was told from the beginning to eat like a baby..with teeth. And since I have a 15 month old granddaughter living with me I have a pretty good idea of what that is.
I started off using a baby spoon to relearn to eat. I cut up everything in tiny pieces maybe a little bigger than a pea. I take at least 20 minutes to eat 3 oz of Protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c startch at every meal. My Snacks are usually fruit. A banana takes me 10 minutes to eat ...and that's fast.
You see I am following my drs orders. And it sounds like several others have a like minded dr. If you don't then that's fine... But since I have been pretty successful over the past 22 months I think my dr knows what he is talking about. I followed his orders to a fault...but subsequently I had no problems and am very healthy now.
If someone chooses to eat bigger pieces or fried foods or pizza..then that's their business but I seriously doubt they will have the same success of someone who sticks to 1000 calories a day. And that's ok too. But for me.. I needed to lose the weight so that I could get to the point of letting the band help me maintain it.
The beauty of the band is that it allows you to make choices in your diet but it doesn't prevent you from making poor selections that will alter iit from working at maximum capacity. As my dr said..the band will do 70% of the work. You must do the other 30%.

DinaMarie, I have the PB2 at home as well. It's not Nutella but I guess it'll do in a pinch
You know what I notices today while walking by the Nutella? They have the nerve to say "made with skim milk!" on the front of it. Trying to trick us and shite.

Ok this thread is the type that makes me want to bang my head on my keyboard.
How can so many people be so foolish to blatantly go against their doctors orders? It doesn't matter what someone else's doctor says or what you can "get away with". Those guidelines are in place for your health and well being. You're really willing to risk that? Why bother going through a surgery just to toss it all away with bad judgement that you know is wrong?
Seriously folks, be an adult and use common some sense. Follow your doctors orders.

I agree that for me those bites are too small. I need a bite that is big enough that I can still get my teeth into it and actually chew it. If the bite is too small it just slips straight past.
But that is what works for ME. If Mis and others find that having smaller bites is what works for them then that is fine. This is a very individual process and everyone needs to figure out what works for them.
Some other things that I don't do that others may include:-
    Following a low carb diet.
    Eating Protein first.
Logging calories ( I've tried and it's way too much like hard work)
Only eating a cup or half cup of food ( I don't measure I eyeball it)
Some of these differences could be because I am in Australia and our Drs seem to approach WLS differently, but it is more proof that there is not a one size fits all solution.

Everyone is different, so each should do what works for them. If u r ok with bigger bits, that's great for you. But others may have issues with bigger bites and so chose to have small bites, the size of a pea if they wish. As miss73 pointed out, she only posted it for others who have been having issues with big bites. We are here to help each other through this journey not judge. Do what works for you, but others benefit from different advice....I personally love this site...as I read different advice's then choose which one works for me, very informative.

Hi Susie I'm 2 years out from surgery and down 100lbs with only 10 pounds to go till I hit my personal goal. I have never in the past two years eaten a bite as small as a pea. I've taken regular sized bites and chewed as much as possible. Of course I have had occasions where I bit off more than I could chew, literally, and I paid for it. But those occasions were few and far between. Just be extremely conscious of chewing. Start with small bites and work your way to what is comfortable for you. Everyone is different. You'll find you niche and when you do stick with it! Good luck!

I am 2 years out with 101lb loss and 10lbs till I hit my personal goal (already hit the doctors goal.) I will tell you that I have plateaued numerous times, and they can last weeks to months at a time. Switching up your calorie intake can help, as well as exercising. Speak to your nutritionist, keep a diet journal. I am a strong advocate of myfitnesspal for calorie tracking. Sometimes if you do not eat enough calories you will plateau, same of you eat just enough to maintain. So try to be aware of what you are in taking. Good luck and don't let this discourage you! It takes time to get into the groove of things. You've been doing great so far so stay positive

I officially weigh 135.0. That was my goal when I started this just over 14 months ago. It is just unreal I cannot believe I am here. I have lost 141 pounds and am in size 4 or 6 pants. I just want everyone to know - I am no one special - I have been horrible about exercise, continued to drink alcohol, to cheat on slider foods sometimes, the list goes on and on. BUT, i went to every single dr. appt and got all my fills - got good tight restriction about 6 months in (yes it is all will power before you hit restriction which can take several months) and stick to my surgeon recommended 800-900 calories per day about 80% or 85% of the time. I love this site and will continue to be on it daily as I work to maintain this weight (a whole new chapter). BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!

I was eating around 1200 a day and not losing. I upped it to 1500 and lost 5lbs in a week. I do exercise 5-6 times a week. For me 1200 was not enough calories. Everyone is different though.
