  1. I'm more concerned about lifting. If my core isn't strong enough it could put my back at risk. And we all know being overweight already puts our back at risk . It one thing being able to take a class (congrats btw) its another thing to be lifting and twisting for 12 hours a day. A class you can stop and go back to if you injure yourself. My job I'll have to go through all that workers comp crap and then have a physical agility test to go back to work. I'd much rather be bored out of my mind, continue my walks and my diet than go back to work too soon.

  2. Hello all! I work as an EMT in a very busy chaotic 911 system. So lots of bending moving twisting. My Dr swears all I need is 4 weeks off. That seems like such a short time based on my job. I'd like to hear how much time people got off and if they had any complications after going back too soon. Thanks in advance!

  3. Hello all! I don't have questions(yet) its just nice to meet people who are going to or have had the surgery through the military. My surgery was done by Dr Bui on Travis AFB on April 16, 2012. Unfortunately my surgeon deploys next week and I feel like I don't have a lot of support through the bariatric program. Most of the nutrition classes are in the middle of the day when getting childcare is hard. And everyone is in their 50-60s it seems. It's nice to know I'm not the only one out there. : )

  4. I think I over did it. Hopefully the pain goes away soon. Now I wonder if 4 weeks is truly enough time before I go back to work. I work as an EMT in the 911 system and it's all bending and twisting all day long. Plus lifting patients, equipment , etc. my dr is adamant that I only need 4 weeks but after all this I wonder if I need more time?

  5. Hello all! I've had some moderate to severe pain in my right side. It increase with movement and it hurts to breathe deep. I called my bariatric nurse and she said I was doing too much around the house and with my son. Its been 3 days now and I think I may have to go to the ER. Am I being a hypochondriac? I'm 13 days post op.

  6. Thanks ladies! I have no idea why I called it a pouch. I guess it's the pain meds talking. I'm glad there's other people out there in my boat. I had my surgery through the air force and like many thing in the military, there's not a lot of wiggle room (in regards to Protein intake) and not much in the way of support.

  7. Hello all! I am two weeks post op and I have no appetite whatsoever. I'm sure I'm not getting enough fluids. I drink a little at a time and then the "burps" start. They're very uncomfortable! I keep trying, but on top of the burps I also have this fear that I'm going to stretch out my pouch. I'm feeling down about the whole thing. Any words of wisdom ?
