  1. I'm a military dependent and had my sleeve done at Travis AFB in CA. Id like to hear other people's experience through the military.
  2. I'm 8 weeks pregnant and am continuing to lose weight. At seven weeks I thought I was having a miscarriage, I passed the sac with the "stem " attached. Unfortunately, I have seen many miscarriages in patients I've transported. I went to dr to make sure the miscarriage was complete and I was surprised to find that I still had a healthy fetus and I had lost a twin (no idea I was having twins. My dr doesn't seem to be concerned about my weight loss which is about ten pounds in four weeks. I can help thinking that may have something to do with losing my baby. I know a fetus is a parasite and will take what it needs, but maybe two was too many?
  3. This is just my surgeon's opinion, so please take with a grain of salt. I waited to ask until I was a year out, but he said since I had hit my goal and was stable, he would've cleared me early. Took 3 months and got prego. Unfortunately, I thought my weight loss would stop once prego and it has not. I'm now on a high fat, high caloric diet to stop the weight loss. If you're doing ok calorie wise, (I was only getting 600 a day) I'm sure the dr could clear you. Also, the dr mentioned that VSG patients are cleared for pregnancy earlier than bypass patients but I can't remember why. Plus, with the PCOS it may take you some time to get knocked up (I hope it doesn't and you get a bun in the oven lickety split!)

    Lost of a twin

It's awful. But the nutritionist was alarmed by how few calories I get in a day so drastic measures were needed. Anything for a healthy baby. : )

    Lost of a twin

Thanks for all the replies! Today was ten weeks and baby looks good. But.....I've lost 13 pounds now and I don't really have 13 pounds to lose. My nutritionist has put me on a fatty diet. Literally. Milkshakes made with canned coconut milk, whole milk and half and half. Plus butter and whole eggs. My tummy hurts thinks thinking about it.

    Lost of a twin

Thank you. I'm on bedrest to save the baby, but im still losing. No one seems concerned on my medical team about the weight loss.

    Pain in side?

I'm 15 months out and still get pain like that. I guess it's not unusual.

    Getting back to basics

Hello! I gained 10 lbs back and I'm not happy. I'm going to the pouch diet and then the boot camp. Remind me, how far post op were you when you started fruits?
  11. Hello all! I have a few questions. I just found out im prego (4 weeks along). I lost about 140 pounds in 14 months. My surgery date was 4/16/12. How did you keep up on eating. Sometimes I forget to eat all day. And were you considered high risk?

    Pregnancy post sleeve.

Thanks ladies! My dr is concerned since I still can only get in 700 calories a day. My sleeve is still super tight. I eat more than 2-3 oz and up it comes. Typically our military base will only start seeing you after 7 weeks or so but my PCM is concerned so she pushed through the consult. Plus I was so "plump" with my son that they had to do a vertical c section. Which also tip the scales towards high risk.

    High Risk?

*disclaimer- please withhold negative opinions, looking for advice, not judgement*. That being said, I'm 10 months out, down 115 lbs and looking to get knocked up. Based on having a gastric sleeve, those of you who are prego, are you considered to be high risk based on the surgery by your MD?

    High Risk?

Oops I guess I forgot the part about with my first son I had a vertical csection. But thank you for all the kind words and support!

    Curses!

Decided to go to the thrift store. My thoughts before surgery? Curses to the plus size girls that bought every thing up. Now? Curses, rib cage!

    Curses!

It used to be that there was NEVER anything cute in plus size. Now I fit into a lot of stuff but there was one dress I wanted soooooo bad, but literally my rib cage didn't fit. Never saw that one coming.
  17. Although I agree it's early , if all your drs are ok with it, go for it. I understand the overwhelming desire to conceive. I'm in that same boat myself. Try to get a high risk OB / GYN. that way you're getting a whole buttload of care. Sorry people were being rude to you. I think they care, but personality and passion are hard to decipher via a message board.

    My story

In August of 2011, I was kicked off a ride at Six Flags for being too fat. As I walked down the ramp and saw my two year old son waiting at the bottom of it I decided that I couldn't live this way anymore and I just had to bite the bullet and look into surgery. It took me eight months to get it, the military is very thorough with their testing. In April 2012 I had my surgery. It's been a very rough road for me, I've had issues with nausea and losing weight too fast. I had my gall bladder removed because of the rapid weight loss. I was diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety (I work in a very violent city as a 911 Emt ). Since I couldn't "eat my feelings" I started manifesting the signs and symptoms. I pretty much kicked my sisters out of my life, they became petty and jealous once the weight started dropping off. My mother constantly tries to sabotage me. If it wasn't for my awesome hubby, great friends and the grace of God, I don't think I've could've done it. I've lost 110 pounds, went from a 24 to a comfy 8/10. Despite my issues, I've never been happier.

    Oopsie!

Hello! Last night, passion got the best of us so now I'm a little concerned about being prego so soon after my sleeve (April 2012) and my rapid weight loss (110 pounds). Are we considered to be a high risk pregnancy? I also had a vertical C section with my son 4 years ago, and I believe that plays a factor too. Anyhow, any input would be appreciated! (I know it seems like I'm worrying too far in advance, but I was a fertile myrtle before my surgery, I got prego on the Pill)

    Oopsie!

Thanks for the input! I'm not really interested in plan b, I just want to make sure I'm proactive in my prenatal care (if I am prego)

    5 Confessions (Join In)

I confess I drink wine everyday. It's the only way I can eat (I've been having issues with nausea since my surgery in April , I dull the nausea in order to eat. I confess I was diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety once I started losing weight ( because I work a high stress job as an EMT and I can't eat my feelings). I much rather have food than meds. : ( I confess I have NO IDEA what to say to people when they say " yeah, I need to lose weight too". Should I agree or smile and nod? I confess that I'm scared that if and when I get prego that I won't be able to carry a healthy baby.

    Why Lie?!?!

I tell EVERYONE! I plastered my journey all over my Facebook page and if I knew how or had time to blog I'd do that too. I've met some people that were negative about my surgery (oddly enough, they were super overweight , so figure) but most people were supportive. And by showing my struggles to get through the program and how I can't have the stuff I used to love (diet soda and champagne, to name a few) I don't think anybody thinks its the cheater way out. And if they do, they can suck my balls. With me being so open about my surgery, I've had a few coworkers approach me about having the surgery (and these are people who can truly benefit from it).
