  1. I'm also an EMT and am almost 3 months out as well. So many people i work with are overweight an unhealthy, I've noticed how we try and justify ourselves being overweight compared to our patients. And I did the same. The eye opening moment for me was last summer when i got kicked off a ride for being too fat.

  2. I know we don't have a pouch, but my dr calls it a pouch all the time, it's hard to break the habit. As for my NUT, she told me 1200 calories then went to a weight loss surgery conference and called me immediately after the seminar and said 500-800 calories. THEN told me I was losing weight at the right speed. Just the week before the dr told me 1500 calories and I was losing too fast and would have gallbladder issues. Guess who's getting their gallbladder out? It's confusing and frustrating, so I'm really glad I have you guys to bounce my questions off of.

  3. Because of my uniform pants I used to love boy shorts! Now they're getting so baggy that I wear them as shorts around the house. My hubby thinks its hilarious, plus it they're so saggy in the back it looks like I have a "load" in my shorts. By load I mean poop.

  4. Layla- I totally agree! Perfect example is our hospital tray. Mine had red juice and a straw. Both supposed no nos. my dr, rn and NUT all tell me different caloric intakes but then tell me I'm losing too fast. I've been told 500-1200 calories. Then when I make goal 1800. Wtf?

  5. Hello! Has anybody gotten their gallbladder out after their sleeve? I've had rapid weight loss, nausea and vomiting so my dr wants to take the gallbladder out now. I'll be about 3 months post op when the squirrelly lil' bastard meets its Maker. How was the surgery? Did you feel better ? Will I be lucky enough to get a few more scars ? ( I love telling people that I got them in a bar fight while IN a Mexican prison)

  6. As an EMS worker and speaking only for my county, the USB Bracelet idea is great but probably won't work. Our laptops won't accept info except from our server. Also, if you're so sick that you can't speak to us there's a good chance we won't even glance at our laptop until we've dropped you off at the ER. I won't lie, sometimes we don't even have time to look for a medical ID of any source. Which sucks knowing that since I now wear one because of my surgery. When I go back to work I'm going to spread the word about the importance of medical bracelets. . (sorry for the crappt news)

  7. Because of my insurance, I was granted a "surprise " sleeve. Meaning I had less than two weeks on get on board with the diet. No fun blow out binges or my beloved tequila. I don't have diabetes, so I can't speak for the diabetes (althought I did have some really crappy feelings of low sugar crashes, I think) but I can speak about the feeling of despair and wanting to quit. It's very hard, I had my cheats in there, like we all prob did, but you can and will do it. You have your reasons for the surgery and always keep in the front of your mind , not the back. For me, I looked at my 3 year old son every freaking day and thought about how I HAD to be around for him, I want to be that mom that says "eff it, I'm going on that Water slide, eff it , I'm going on that roller coaster". I don't want to be a sideline mom. My son deserves better. So, that's my reason for making it through. Maybe others can share theirs? Strength in numbers kinda deal. Oh, and I want to ride a horse and not feel bad for the horse. ; )

  8. Has anybody puked mucus balls?! I didn't even know 'til my buddy who had a full bypass told me about hers. I thought I was a freak. It makes sense , most of us are on acid reflux meds and are missing parts of our stomach which produce acid. Today I puked a bubble the size of a softball, I'm surprised the damn thing didn't float away.
