Video of me getting a fill

It is really not that bad. As you will see by most people posting here. Hopefully it at least helps you understand and knowledge is important. Wade

He was removing the Fluid to check how much was in the band before he started. This is one way for he or she to check that your band does not have a leak in it. On the video, I think I interrupted his train of thought and he wanted to make sure he put in the correct amount. I talk about this in my book as well. Thanks, Wade
  4. I know this is not what you are looking for but I thought I would ask since I have slow weightloss. How are your stress levels and are you on any pain meds? Both seem to bring my weightloss to a stop even after having the band for 2.5 yrs now. When I get away from work for a week I start losing weight. Anybody else like this? Wade

The reason I say it does not hurt is because you do feel the pinch going in, but once the end of the needle is inserted inside the port I do not feel a thing. So it is not like the needle is prodding around in your body the whole time. The only reason I can think of for the needle being so big is because of the amount of fatty tissue it has to go through on different people. I know every doctor does things differently and I wanted to share the way mine is done. Wade
  8. I have had the band for about 3 years now and I decided about a year ago to work on writing a book about it. I try to write it from the perspective of a patient, not a doctor. I am a technology teacher by profession but I have placed my book on my website. If you want to check it out, it is $15.00 and can be downloaded. My website is http://www.vtmag.com . Look under the Products area for more details about what it covers. Hope this helps!:scared:

  10. Hello, My name is Wade Beasley and I had me LapBand surgery back on 11/17/03. I started out at 377lbs before surgery and I lost 60 lbs in the first 4 months. I was close to being down 67 lbs back during the summer but I am back up to 326 lbs now. I am very depressed. I know it is bad habits like Ice Cream. I do not want to be a failure but I do alot of emotional eating. When I focus I do okay but I lose focus quickly. :angry Has anyone else had this problem? I had me band loosened before the holidays because a dietician said I might have been too tight. I am suppose to see the doctor again on 2/1 which I am sure I need to be filled again. I am currently at 2.0ccs and I was at 2.5 ccs. It seemed so easy back during the start but it is much harder now. Again, I do not want to be a failure. The other thing is I have not been working out. Sorry to dump but just needing some advise. Thanks, Wade Beasley Shelbyville, KY Dr. Cacchione - Louisville 11/17/2003

    Dwpb?!

I have had this happen a couple of times and being a guy, I just rolled the window down and out the side it went.. The other time I was at a stop light and just opened the door. I was in heavy traffic then too. I guess I just didn't care what others thought. My body said it had to come out and it did. Wade
  12. I'm sooooo excited that I can't hide it..... I think that is what the song says... Anyways, I have gotten a new job offer and looking forward to new things. I have lost about 6 pounds in the last week. Hopefully, this is where I really get back on track and out of the rut. I need to still lose another 100 lbs but I have been stuck for over a year. I think the new job is a lightening of the load of depression I have had. I don't start the new job until July 5th, but I get a week off to be with my wife and kids. I am so ready to get this going in the positive direction again! Thanks, Wade Beasley
  13. I had a fill a couple of months ago back to 2.4 ccs. In the morning I am very restricted and can only drink. At lunch I can eat some but it takes an hour to get the food down. At supper, it just depends. Sometimes I can not eat much other times I can eat a whole plate of food. Then, my worst habit is eating something late at night. I am my own worst enemy! Frustrated and depressed. Wade :angry :cry
  14. Still struggling, I need prayers and advice. I do not post much any more to any of the boards. It seems I am stuck in a bad rut and can not get out of it. I had my surgery 11.17.2003 and weighed 377lbs. At the first of April 2004, I weighed 317. Everything was going fine and then all of the sudden everything just stopped. I did over the summer of 2004 get down to around 311 but the weight just fluxuated back and forth and I am still not going down. I am about 322lbs and here it is 1.5 years later and I have not lost all the weight, not even close. I would really like to be down to around 210lbs or even 225lbs. I need prayers and advice on how to get back to the losing again. I have been to some counseling but stopped. I need to get off some of the medicines I am on and need to focus on eating the correct things. The other thing is I have a bad habit of eating late at night. I do not sleep well at all. During the day I am sitting at my desk because I am a software developer. Thanks for listening. Wade Beasley

I am up this week. I worked late nights most of this week and ate junk instead of healthy choices. I am at 324. I will have to buckle down this week. Wade

    Where's your port?

Mine is about 2 inches down from my right rib cage and about 2 inches from the center of my abdomen. Easy to get to and a quick stick for the fills and unfills. Wade

Paula, I am in! I am on this plateau what seems like a year. I am ready to get past it! Thanks, Wade
  22. Thanks everyone for your advise and encouragement! I have been to the counselor and dietitician twice. Basically, I have come to the realization that my biggest issue is with emotional eating. I do not deal with stress the way I use to when I was in my 20s. I also realized that I no longer like what I do for a living. I am a computer software developer and I sit at my desk for 10+ hours a day and work on the weekends often. I also started to track my number of steps I take in a day with a pedometer and I am only getting in 950 - 1400 steps / day. The counselor is helping me to see what is the root issues with my behavior and how I can change this. The only real problem is now figuring out what I want to do for an occupation now. I feel like I am trapped because I have been so specialized for so long and not sure how to make a career change after 18+ years. Anyways the counselor was telling how if you do something every day that you do not like or totally hate, it can be just as stressfull on you as a high pressure situation. After thinking about it for a while, I agree. The unhappiness effects my stress levels, my desire to lose weight, my family and every other part of my life. I guess this is just part of life's journey and figuring out your path in life changes with the choices you make day to day. Thanks for listening, Wade

  25. Hey, as some of you may know I am writing a book on LapBand as well. One of the things I really want to have is a lot of inspirational stories for people to read and pictures of before / during / after. It is going to be a PDF type book that way people can download it. I am also setting up a website to have it and other items on it. I have some stories, but I could really use another 10 - 12 to give the book more volume along with the pictures. Would anyone here like to help by sharing their story and photos for the book? Anyone who helps gets the book before it is published on the web site. Another thing I would like to do is to have some Audio Interviews to post on the site. So if you have a mic on your computer and I could interview you it would be great! As to the stories, what people want to hear is: 1. Why did you seek surgery? 2. Why the LapBand? 3. How did your surgery go? 4. How are you doing since the surgery? 5. What are some things you have learned about yourself? 6. What are some of the struggles you have had since the band? 7. Would you do it again? Thanks, Wade Beasley Dr. Cacchione 11.17.2003 377/317/225
