  1. That's my birthday! Oh what I wouldn't give to be sleeve on my birthday!!! I'm excited or you. I pray that all goes well!
  2. Can someone tell me how to get ahold of alma, ease? I emailed ready 4 a change and got a failure to deliver message.
  3. How are things now, jsd? Is it safe to assume that if you could do it all over again, you would not have gotten the surgery? I am still in the planning phases, and your story just scared the crap out of
  4. If you search Garcia and read the past posts of those raving about him, go back and read their past started threads. See if they started out here and did their surgeon search here too. See If they talked about their fears, etc. as well. I don't think fakers would have time to invest in making a bunch of realistic profiles and personalities and individual faux experiences.
  5. How did it go?? Is everyone still glad they chose what they did? I really want to go to dr. Ridriguez! And financing sounds delightful!!
  6. I've read repeatedly here that Trish answers everyone's emails almost immediately. I'm not experiencing the same. Now I know she's only human and she has a busy job, but I've gotten responses aprox 24 hours later, not prompt like others I'm not considering this a negative experience, but wondered if anyone DID have a negative experience with Trish/ponce. *********eta- I just now saw the thread about "all things Ponce de leon. " I'll go heck that out too.
  7. I'm not trying to argue. I'm honestly just thinking iust loud here, but should the well off people of Mexico go to America for their wl surgeries??? Where do they go? I'm sure they do their research and find very good surgeons in their country. To the Mexican residents, $7000 give or take, is not "cheap." Now. I do believe very much in horror stories, American or otherwise. Bit I don't think that makes Mexico a terrible place to get surgery. "/
  8. I hope the original poster doesn't mind me rabbit trailing a little bit. I am wondering, if any of you only had $6000 to spend toward your surgery, would you go with Dr. Garcia or Ponce de leon if you could not afford Aceves or Almanza? Or would you wait an entire year more!? I have heard excellent things about both of those doctors, but they are not as well recognized as Aceves or Almanza. I am the worrying type, As much as I try not to.
  9. I wish someone would come back and give an educated response to the previous poster. I have heard nothing but wonderful stories about a lot of the dr's In mx. Not all of them. If I was hearing horror stories left and right, I would never even consider mx. So many people have said that they recieved superior care in mx vs. the states.
  10. Hm. Actually I just finished dr alvarezs book and he states that if your bmi is 35 or lower, you may not have to do the PRE op 1-2 week diet. *shrug*
  11. Have you talked to your dr? That doesn't sound rigt. . We're you a revision?
  12. Some doctors want you on a liquid preop. Some low carb. I wonder how naughty it would be to do low carb instead of liquid. Would they really know? My goal is to get my bmi lowered so that maybe I'm not required to do the liver shrinking part. It's 40 now and my (hopeful) surgery is near feb.
  13. Ooh you should do a before and after thread!!
  14. I am so jealous! How exciting!
  15. Oh, good to know! I'm going to be giving alma call soon, myself. Does she have a fb page like some do, or a website?. There re so many more people going w Garcia now, than a few months ago when I was on the boards. (Rock on)
  16. Yes, I meant the actual stomach. I should have been more specific. Thanks for replies. To those who answered with "mine doesn't" etc, can you tell me who your dr is please? I'm looking into either dr Ponce or dr. Garcia at this point, do any of them do both? I really woudl like the added step.
  17. Yes yes yes!!!! I am so with you on that. I am so tired of buying crappy tshirts and yoga pants because everything else is so uncomfy or squeezes here or dogs in there. I feel frumpy, ugly and grumpy.
  18. Mine isn't fancy or anything. I can't wait to wear clothes from the "normal" side of the store. And to actually feel sexy in a nightie.
  19. For those of you saying you are going in February, have you already scheduled and paid? Do we have to schedule this far in advance?
  20. Is anyone else getting surgery around tax time? We aren't positive it it looks like I'll finally be able to get the surgery around February-April . I'd love to have a little group of "countdown friends. " I'm going to mx, by the way. Not sure which dr yet. I'm thinking Ponce fe Leon or Garcia.
  21. I just want to say that I totally feel you. I had a breadown just today, in front of dh. And I'm the type that puts up walls and tries not to let my weaker side show. My weight affects EVERY aspect of my life. I'm all around grumpier when I'm 233 lbs at 5'4" tall, and I know for a fact it's related to my weight and also to my "sugar usage." When I know I'm doing what's right, eating healthy, and taking care of myself, my self esteem is much much higher. So while I'll still have "issues," I'll love me more. And I think you will too.
  22. Im not losing and haven't lost yet, since I'm not sleeved yet, so I don't have any clothes to swap, but I'd love to find a few used items for working out. Preferably tank tops for shirts. Mug appreciated, Amy
