Y'all know they have a June 2013 sleevers thread and group now? Makes me feel old. Lol
-
I quit May 12,2012 which was a month before my surgery. I'm still not smoking. I miss cigarettes more than I miss food

I agrees with above that this about respecting yourself and doing what is best for you. Making a clean break will be the best thing you can do for her an for yourself.
I can relate to you, my divorce will be final at the end of this month.
You are not a bad person. Good luck!

I took out a loan from my credit union, I paid for my whole surgery myself, it was $14K. I should have it paid off in 4 years, well actually three now that it's been almost a year. Lol

I am 33. Very happily married. Now a normal weight. I self payed in the states. My husband and I have been married for almost 5 years. Everyone keeps making comments about pregnancy easier now that I am smaller or aren't you worried about pregnancy weight. Thing is' date=' I don't think I want kids. Ever. I would like some feed back on the pros and cons of that choice. Anyone who has an opinion, young, old, male female, parent or not. Thanks![/quote']
I was like you, I didn't want children no how, no way. Well about 7 seven years ago, I didn't make the best choices and found myself pregnant at the age of 28. I freaked out. My little boy just turned 6 in December, and everyday I think about how he was the best thing that happened to me. He and I are super close, his father is not involved in his life at all. Do I want any more children? No. But I'm glad I had this "accident".

You look great Shane. I sure wish I had documented my progress through photos better.

Hi' date='I met this amazing guy online and we've been talking non stop for about.... A week now?
He would start texting me at 8 am and we'd go to bed around 3 am.
My question is:
Sex. When is it too early to speak about it?
The topic was brought up, and so I rolled with it. I am pretty open about my sexuality, but I am now left with the feeling that this may just be about sex and that I ruined a potentially good, no great relationship by answering these questions too early.
We have spoken on 2 occasions about sex. It dominated our first 3 hour phone conversation, taking up at least one of those hours towards the end.
Opinions please, I'm meeting him face to face on Friday, and I really want this to work.
Thanks.[/quote']
It's very frustrating, I'm also on the online dating scene and haven't found very many men that are not propositioning me for sex right out the gate. I didn't put anything like that in my profile, so I don't know why I'm attracting that element. And don't get me started about the guy who put "no big girls" in his profile that won't quit messaging me even though I've told him its not gonna happen. I'm gonns delete my profile soon. It's discouraging. Sorry, I had to vent for a minute. Lol
Like others have said before me, just make sure your up front about your intentions, even if that includes not jumping in the sack right away. Was it last night you were supposed to meet him? How'd it go?

Women and Children's Hospital in Lake Charles is a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Dr. Keith Chung is excellent. Google him and check out his credentials. Good luck!
That's who my surgeon was. I love Dr. Chung. I was cash pay, it cost me $14K

Hi! I am new to this journey and I will be self pay. Has anyone used these doctors in Lafayette' date=' Louisiana? I live in Denham Springs, Louisiana. I would love to connect with more people from this area also! My current weight is 245, and I would love to get down to 175. Anything extra would be a blessing![/quote']Hi! I don't know about the doctors in Lafayette, my surgeon was in Lake Charles, and I love him. Thought I'd say hi though.

Ive lost 222 pounds total. It is possible and there are more than a few people that have done it. Good Luck !Wow!
-
Well Khloé' date=' you may find you have someone closer than you think that's had success. In just over a year I've lost 185 pounds. And it's still going. I'm at the point now where I can eat anything, just very little of it, but because I spent a year having been basically forced into eating healthy I have much better eating habits.Even though I could eat Pasta or white bread if I wanted to, I trade Pasta for vegetables and white bread for wheat.
Starting this journey needing to lose 212 pounds seemed impossible and was really depressing. A year later and I'm 27 pounds away from my goal. This surgery is the absolute best decision I ever made.[/quote']
Awesome! That's great!
-
Stalled for last weeks weigh in after coming off a 4lb loss the week before. Lost 3.6 lbs this week. Those are big numbers for me. The closer I get to goal, 23lbs to go, the slower it's coming off.
-
You look great! Congrats!

As a veterinarian - I can tell you that vet school is much harder to get into than med school. There are only 28 vet schools in North America so it's a numbers game. I have had several MDs tell me they weren't accepted to vet school.
I wanted to be a vet...but lost my steam, now I'm just a parole officer.
Also I just wanted to post in this thread...Lol

i confess' date=' Im having a bad day! very depressing today![/quote']Sorry to hear that...hope your day gets better

We also collect money for surgeries, babies, and funerals to be able to send flowers, balloons, etc at my job
I have never received anything from my office for the surgeries, childbirth, or family funerals.
I no longer contribute to this fund at my office.

wolfgirl..yes' date=' so you know what I mean about that file note stuff...maybe others think we are paranoid, but they probably don't live in our state...I am glad your recovery was free of complications...you still doing well?[/quote']I am doing great. 7 months out and 90lbs down. No problems whatsoever
How will this be different?

To OP, good luck with your financing. I work for State Government also, our insurance is "no how, no way" towards bariatric surgery. I secured financing through my credit union for 4 years. Best thing I have ever done for myself. I have read lots of good things about surgeries in Mexico on here, but I could not bring myself to have surgery outside the US despite the cost difference. I paid 14K for my sleeve, and it's the best investment I've ever made.
