    Leak Test

I did throw up the contrast after my first leak test. It showed my stomach was super swollen and so I had to have another one the following day. So so nasty.
  2. When you say I'm down x amount of pounds - are you referring to your weight since surgery, or your highest "known" weight? When I say I'm down x number of pounds, I'm always referring to being down from my highest weight. I don't even really remember what my actual weight was on surgery day. My highest weight that I know of was 262 in June/July. I had my surgery July 30th. I'm 6 weeks out, and I'm now 223lbs. So I say I'm down 39 pounds. I think I lost about 10 or 12 pounds on the pre-op diet (2 week liquid diet). But I consider it all part of my weight loss. How do you refer to it?

    Super Yummy Fast Breakfast

I wasn't given limits on certain things like how many carbs/day. My dietician wants me to have up to 1500 calories per day with 85g protein. I need 10 servings of protein, 4 veggie servings, 3 fruit servings, 4 starches and 3 fat servings in a day. And I work it out that way. I keep track of my food intake on MyFitnessPal.

    Super Yummy Fast Breakfast

Not sure about how long they will actually stay good for as I just made them for the first time yesterday. But I made more because my husband also eats these for breakfast. If you are worried about them going bad before you eat them all - just cook fewer eggs at a time.

    Super Yummy Fast Breakfast

15 minutes on 350 degree oven. Yolks were cooked through. You could go for less time if you wanted runny yolk.
  7. Break the soda addiction now. It will be SO much easier. I switched from coke/dr. pepper to Sprite/7 UP when I was diagnosed with a heart condition and wanted to not have the caffeine. Then I had my last soda about a month before my sleeve - at the movies with some popcorn. Do I miss it? Maybe a little. But not enough to try it anymore. I'm only 7 weeks out and have yet to find anything I can't really have. I stay away from things like pasta/rice/bread because they are just fillers without much nutrition. And I just don't have the room to fill my stomach up with foods like that. I did a 2 week preop liquid diet before surgery and that helped me get over my carb addiction. I really don't miss those anymore either. Try this to get off soda. I would make that goal #1 - because seriously, soda is nothing buy empty calories. Good luck to you! http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/28-day-national-soda-challenge

    Self Pay - Hiatus Hernia

I am a self pay because my insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery of any kind. A hiatal hernia was found during surgery and fixed, and my insurance was billed for that. Which they paid. I specifically asked my insurance about the surgery - no coverage. But they said they covered any complications, etc related to surgery (hiatal hernia) which is the reason I found a good surgeon within my network.

    Cookware For Wls Folks

I'm getting interested in cooking after my surgery (3 weeks ago). I recently bought a mini loaf pan and mini muffin pan to be able to make smaller quantities. I use a lot of recipes off of Eggface's blog, and these work great! Has anyone else bought cookware that will help them make smaller meals? I am interested in buying Rachel Ray's cookware: http://www.amazon.com/Rachael-Ray-Stoneware-Ramekins-10-Ounce/dp/B005BQAUV2/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_cart_1 http://www.amazon.com/Rachael-Ray-Stoneware-3-Ounce-Dipping/dp/B005BQAUAI/ref=pd_bxgy_k_img_b http://www.amazon.com/Rachael-Ray-Bubble-Brown-Ramekins/dp/B002EAYSPM/ref=pd_sim_k_3 and these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BI8NAK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER and this brownie pan from Pampered Chef: http://www.pamperedchef.com/ordering/prod_details.tpc?prodId=38310&catId=122&parentCatId=122&outletSubCat=

    Working Out

I've been a member of Lifetime Fitness for years. Would go in spurts - some spurts longer than others. I'm now almost 7 weeks postop and I just started going back last week. I joined TEAM Weightloss, which is a small group of people (there are about 5-6 woman in my group) and we meet 3 times a week with a personal trainer, and also a dietician weekly. It's a 12 week long program. So far it's been kicking my butt. But I love it!

    July Sleevers----Where Ya At? :-)

Sleeved July 30th. Weighed 262, down to 223! So 39 pounds gone! Woo-hoo. I have yet to shop for new clothes for myself, but my pants are getting really baggy. I'm afraid of going into a store and being disappointed by what size I actually wear now!.

Has Anyone Gone To True Results?

Have a friend who was sleeved through them in April or May. She has had great results, and liked her doctor. Not sure about the self pay.
  14. Yep - just had one this am for breakfast! I did Water (I was out of my fat free milk), frozen strawberries, Chike Very Vanilla powder (2 scoops), and some Torani Vanilla sugar free syrup (1-2 tablespoons). I just pour over ice, as I find adding ice to the actual smoothie bulks it up and i can't drink as much of it.

    Ladies, Tom Question!

Yes, he sad it was normal. And that most women of nonmenopausal age have issues for 4-6 months or so before their bodies sop wiggling out and settle down. Hopefully it won't take that long!

    Ladies, Tom Question!

Yes, it really sucks. I've had my period now for 21 of the past 30 days now. Hoping it will stop eventually. Like I said, it's not my normal flow - but it's dark brown (TMI) like really old blood. So nasty. And eventually I would like to have relations with my hubby!

    Ladies, Tom Question!

I'm almost 6 weeks out, and started my period a week and half after surgery...and it hasnt stopped yet. It's super light, can wear panty liners. But very time I go to the bathroom, it's there. And I'm so freaking sick and tired of it!
  19. Not sure. I'm 5.5 weeks out. All I can tell you is that my hunger and my feelings of fullness are different now than they were before surgery. I can tell when I need to eat (am "hungry"), and I eat what I think I can eat, and just go really slowly once I get to the end of the food. Most of the time I can't quite eat it all (and we are talking 1/3-1/2 cup of food total). The first couple of weeks, I would get a sharp pain in my left shoulder when I was getting full. THat eventually went away, and now I just feel restriction. I don't eat enough to make myself sick (I haven't thrown up since the day of my surgery). Eventually you will get to know the signs of fullness before pain sets in. Only once or twice have I eaten enough to make my stomach hurt.

Does Our B12 Have To Be Sublingual?

What about the liquid form of B-12 (not pills, it's literally a liquid).

    Irregular Periods

Was sleeved 5 weeks ago. I had a normal period 2 weeks before surgery. I have very regular, somewhat heavy periods that last about 7 days, and am not on birth control. After surgery (1.5 weeks), my period starts. Very light for the first several days, then super heavy. It lasts 11 days. Then 10 days later, my period shows up again...again very light. It's day 6 of this weird light period. Are there some homeopathic herbs or something that can help my body stop freaking out? I really don't want to be on birth control again (DH is snipped). I'm due for my annual exam this month. It was hoping I could find a solution before then. It's so freaking annoying!
  22. I'm 5 weeks out tomorrow, and still in the soft foods phase (should be moving to regular foods this next week). I tried this for the first time tonight and it was AWESOME! Even my picky husband said it was awesome. And you can put whatever you like on it! We did cheese, a couple of pepperoni, spinach, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. I could only eat half of mine, and gave DH the rest. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2009/11/tortilla-pizza-time.html

    Big Mistake!

I don't feel hungry or full like I did before surgery. I'm 5 weeks out and on soft foods. I try to eat slowly, and slow down even more when I feel like I've had enough. I don't feel "full" per se, but I begin to feel my stomach. I know about how much I can eat, and only put that on my plate/bowl. Depending on the food, it's about 1/3-1/2 cup of food.

    Protein Bars

I searched some, but didn't find a whole lot on this topic. I would like to keep some Protein bars around - they are easy to take on the go for errand running, etc. Easier to eat than Protein shakes - which I happen to like - but they take forever for me to get one down because of the volume. Anyone suggest some good tasting, good for you Protein Bars? So far Ive only tried the EAS carb control one (chocolate Peanut Butter crisp) and it was okay. Im hoping something is out there that tastes a little better. This one has: 240 cal, 8g fat, 27g carbs (6g fiber), 1g sugar, 17g sugar alcohols, and 17g protein. This isn't something I want to eat daily - just something to have on hand on the days I run errands and know I will be out and about when snack time hits. I will be a month out on Monday! Woo-hoo! Thanks for any suggestions!
