  1. I also regretted not getting it done sooner On day 2 or 3 post op I had a slight thought of what did I do to myself. Only because the gas pain was so bad. I am now 14 days out and know that is the best thing I could ever do to myself

2-Weeks Out - What Do I Ea That Tastes Goodt?!

I am the soft food phase and some of the things I found help is Cottage cheese ( 4oz is 12 grams of protein); Anderson's split pea Soup ( 8oz is 10 grams of protein) To get moist chicken I was told to put it in a crock pot with broth, seasonings, or lowfat sauce You might want to try ground turkey meat if he is okay with chicken

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

I have just been sleeved 2 wks. ago and am starting to get hungry on some days. I am worried that I am not going to lose weight. I too am done with the protein shakes, and am glad that I found one in a shot form so I don't think that I am drinking just for my protein. It is at the point that I don't want to eat just too keep the calories low. I am averaging 650 calories a day. Some days are lower and 2 days were close to 800. When doing so I am averaging 70 grams of protein. My doctor wants me to transition to solid food for protein to make it as natural as possible when it is safe to. I know it is not good, but I am on the scale almost everyday and it worries me when i don't see the scale going down when I am in the "honeymoon" phase of my surgery Any suggestions?

    Why We Eat

Tibbie, I can relate. My work is very stressful and I would "stress" eat. I started with sweets and then switched to sunflower seeds. I know that this sounds crazy, but I found that 2 wks before surgery I started a different approach. When I started feeling stress, I would color or doodle on a piece of paper. It could be during a conference call or just took a break to help me calm down. If are able, you might want to try a quick walk or stretch exercises at your desk. I found that help as well
  8. I had both the leak test the day after surgery before being put on a clear liquid diet and I had a drain that was looked at on day 5 post op where it was also examined for blue dye I was given in the hospital as a sign of leakage I would agree it depends on your surgeon and their success without any leaks. Ask if you don't feel comfortable. Some doctors are more cautious. Mine for example had me do a stress test even though I had 4 other surgeries and came out just fine.
  9. Is there a local support group or the surgeon's doctor office have a program where you can have an exchange. I love the fact that my surgeon's office has once a month where you can take your larger clothes and exchange them for a smaller size. I have heard that there are also some local support groups that do it as well. It may be listed under another type of surgery, but a clothing exchange, is a clothing exchange

    What Is Different?

I can understand your worry. I am on the mushy food phase and noticed that my calorie intake it getting between 550 - 790 depending on how much of food I eat. I worry when I am going to start meat next week. As far as the chocolate cravings, have you tried getting your calcium in a chocolate chew flavor? Keep the faith and if you are real concern, see if you can make an appointment to consult your food options. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks myself to help me stay on track

  13. I am almost 2 wks. post op and I have had to take my medication twice. My general doctor told me that it might happen when I change stages with the diet and introduce new foods. I would just keep writing foods down so you can see what can be the trigger. Give yourself more time and it will be back to normal
  14. Overall, for sure. You worked hard for every pound you lost; celebrate it
  15. I had BBQ tri-tip for my last meal. I love steak and knew it would be a long time before I can have it again. But what you whatever your favorite is, I would start there. Talk to your doctor to see if he can give you our post - op diet will be so you can see what you will miss the most.

    Confused With Post Op Diet

I agree that all doctors are different. I am 11 days post-op and just started mushy food, yesterday. I was on clear liquids in the hospital; day 4 - 9 post op I was on full liquid but no yogurt. I will be on the mushy food for 10 days and then I can have deli meat, ground turkey, and cheese sticks.

  21. That is good to know. The grape Proasis one taste great but hard to find. So other goo is good to know. I am so happy with getting on my 74 grams of protein. I was only able to eat half of one egg, 4 oz. of cottage cheese, and 1Tbsp of peanut butter. I relied on 2 protein shots for 2/3 of all my protein

  25. I have been using myfitnesspal.com as well. It is great because I can input on my smart phone app or on the computer. It has a wide range of products stored in its database and if you use the smart phone app you can scan the bar-codes. I agree to try to stay within the 800 - 1000 calories a day; eat the best part first (protein), make sure that you are getting in your Vitamin daily.
