  1. thanks everyone, I'm glad you guys didn't laugh! I was almost ashamed to ask...lol To Krussell19 I too carry all my or most of my weight in my rear and and belly, well most in my rear. I like some crazy people out there are going shopping tonight when Walmart opens (with some girlfriends) and will look at them and see if I can buy just one pair and buy a couple in 2 different sizes. This year for Thanksgiving its just me and my mom and we are going out to eat so tonight I'm having my highlight shopping spree at different places. gona be a long night. lol. Thanks again for all your advice and input. Donna
  2. ok, so I wear underwear from the Avenue which are sized like clothes 18/20, 22/24, etc. I wear 22/24 now and they are getting big, since I'm losing I hate to pay Ave's prices for panties when I can go to Walmart and get some but I do not know what size to get, 9, 10, 11, 12 and so on??? Call me dumb I guess.
  3. Before my surgery during pre-op procedures I had to do a barium (yuk) test to see how well I swallowed and they wanted to look at my stomach, not an Endoscopy, had one of those too, anyway, they detected gallstones, then right after surgery I had to go into the ER for vomiting and they did an x-ray to make sure my band hadn't slipped and they saw the gallstones then too. Well since then and losing since June I've been having some probs that may be related to my gallbladder and gallstones. Anyway, went to my PCP today and he has ordered a Hepatobiliary Scan for next week, has anyone had this done before? I'd like to know what to expect??? thx
  4. Oh Missy above is right, I do know what I did wrong, a too big of a bite or didn't chew well. I'm only 5 mos post op and still learning my band and learning how to eat properly. It's a hard habit to break after eating they way we did prior to surgery for so many years or so it is for me at least, speaking for myself. I either let myself get too hungry and get in a hurry and take big bites and before you know it I swallow and oops, I'm stuck! Still learning Donna
  5. well said! When I get stuck it hurts in the center/middle of my chest and then my mouth begins to Water or salivate and then the slime starts and then I PB and then sometimes I will eventually throw it all up, not always but sometimes. It's not pretty and not fun.
  6. its my first Thanksgiving too. I'm a little over 5 mos out being banded. Since it's just me and my mom this year we didn't think it would be worth it to cook for just the two of us so we are going to Cracker Barrel and split a plate. I'm kind of bummed we aren't cooking but my mom is 73 and she doesn't feel like cooking and I know you all would say why don't I do all the cooking, well, I could but with just the 2 of us we would have a boat load of left overs so we opted to go out. I'm not too worried about over indulging as she is my food police, lol but I do know this, after eating "food" there is no way I will be able to eat any pumpkin pie, that will have to come home with me for me to take a bite or two later. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
  7. hope you get some relief soon. Get to feeling better before Thurs. so you can enjoy the Holiday with family. Prayers and hugs.
  8. thanks everyone, I guess it is a plateau, but that doesn't mean I like it! lol. Never have stalled like this yet until now and I'm only 5 months post op. I will increase my water, can't mow, we've already had hard freezes here in Western Ky and grass isn't growing and I'm awaiting on the snow...heehee however today is 60 outside on that note I think I will take the pup for a walk around the block. I have a Dachshund and she is only 19 mos old and loves to get out so it would do us both good to walk. I go back to the Dr on the 6th.
  9. thank you. Yes I can tell in my clothes, I'm in a size smaller than pre surgery and you are right I will try not to get discouraged.
  10. I agree, even tho I'm only 5 mos post op I see my Dr every month and probably will do so till I hit that "sweet" spot of the green zone and then he will want to see me on a regular basis after that. I go to support meetings twice a month. hang in there.
  11. It has been 2 weeks since my last fill and I do feel restriction but I'm not losing, actually gained a half lb this week. I go back to surgeon in 2 weeks. I lost almost 10 lbs last month so I really don't know what is going on. Eating the same if anything a little less because I can't eat as much as I did last month before this fill. Guess it will all work out.
  12. Actually I slept but had to be at the hospital at 5:30 am, arrrgggg! But it was well worth it. Good luck to you and many prayers to you. These next few days hopefully will go smoothly but remember this: sip sip sip all day long, walk around the house to work out the gas in case you have gas pains especially in your shoulder area and have some gas x handy, take it easy and let your body heal, these days are critical to healing and lastly keep us posted on how you are doing. In no time you will feel like a brand new you! I'm 5 mos post op and wouldn't trade it for the world. Yes it's been a struggle but all worth it. Now go get some rest!!!
  13. I couldn't have said it better myself. This was the best option for me, I wanted to take it off slow and therefore I am and it is working for me. Yes it's work but I'm learning how to eat properly like a normal person and I'm learning what to eat (healthy) like a normal person after all the abuse my body endured for 46 yrs. I do not want to become a statistic like my late father to heart disease.
  14. oh girl I feel for you but please call your dr/surgeon and let him/her know what is going on so that they can call you in a prescrip of Zofran or Phenergan to have on hand because the last thing you want to do is puke because it can cause your band to slip. Unlikely, but can happen. Oh, your poor little one. I hope he feels better soon. Hope mommy doesn't get it either. Hugs.
  15. I am 5 mos post op and oh let me tell you, on day 6 post op I still hadn't gone I was soooo constipated and sick to my stomach from not going so I called my surgeon and he told me to send someone out to get me some magnesium citrate and only drink a little to get things moving along. I did and things got to moving! Cherry was the flavor, its nasty but better than lemon. I keep it on hand now because to this day I still battle with constipation, guess cause we aren't eating all that high fatty foods anymore and large amounts. You can get this stuff at any drug store or walmart. It works, its what dr's use for patients before a colonoscopy prep. sometimes. Good luck and hope you get some relief.
  16. thank you so much louisanalady, wow you guys are really making me feel good. Since my divorce I don't usually get compliments, lol well from my mom I do, she tells me things like I can really tell you're losing which makes me feel good. Thanks.
  17. glad ur unstuck now but no fun being there, been there plenty of times by stuffing my mouth too full by old habits.
  18. Pattygirl, you made my night. Thank you so much. Got a long ways to go tho. A long ways! Donna
  19. they are 3X 24/26, some are Coldwater Creek, bought last year and some are Fashion Bug Plus and Stein Mart too many to list, still have some to try on and fizzle out, maybe this weekend. If this is your size private message me and I will send you my private email addy so that I can send you pics to see if you like them. Donna
  20. oh girl, by the looks of your profile pic you look smaller than me but anyhoo, they are 3X 24/26, some are Coldwater Creek, Fashion Bug Plus. I still have lots to try on and go thru. If this is your size private message me and I will send you my personal email addy and send you pics. Thanks for the interest and welcome to your new journey. Donna
  21. trying on some of my winter sweaters from last season and none of them fit. Yes you say that's a great thing but they are Coldwater Creek and expensive sweaters and still look new and therefore I'm sad, I like them! sigh
  22. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it won't let me add the ingredients into the recipe builder. It gives me a box but won't let me click in the box to add. It will let me choose other people's recipes and get their nutritional info. I'm not a fan of the site, maybe cause I don't know how to use it properly. I don't know. duh.
  23. wow what a wonderful thread! I'm most thankful for a wonderful surgeon that saved my life and gave me my life back. Although I've only lost 45 lbs and have so much more to lose, it is an accomplishment and I'm proud. I'm thankful for my mom giving me a roof over my head after my divorce, she's my rock and biggest cheerleader throughout my journey. And I'm most thankful for my brother and his wife who both battled cancer at the same time, a yr and a half ago. My sister-in-law is cancer free and right now my brother is in remission but still undergoing chemo every three weeks. I often ask myself why God gave him this disease and not me, he has so much to live for, a wonderful career, house, beautiful wife and me, well it's just me now. I guess God has other plans and we are not to question. I'm thankful I still have them here and in good spirits. What an awesome thread, thanks for posting. May everyone have a blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends.
  24. I made taco Soup in the crock pot Sunday afternoon and it was delish! Kind of combined recipes of friends and Pinterest and just threw it together, of course it was stuff I liked. Don't ask for nutritional info because I do not have it and don't know how to figure it out, wish I did. 1 large can of chicken 2 cans of kidney Beans (called for 1 can and 1 can of black beans but I don't like black beans as well) 1 can of corn (I used mixed corn, shoepeg and yellow) 1 can of Rotell and green chilles (sp?) 1 sm can of tomato sauce (then I added 1 1/2 can of Water from this can) 1 pkg of taco seasoning Mix, cook on high for 4 hrs. I added low fat shredded mexican cheese, just a pinch and the recipe calls for Frito's and I did eat 6 Frito's with mine, broke them up into the soup. Of course you can leave those off. It was yummy.
  25. Luckily I haven't lost any hair that I've noticed but I go to the salon this Friday and I'm gona ask my stylist if she notices if it seems thinner. I did have a probelm with brittle dry hair and had to order a product for that. I am the world's worst about taking my vitamins and biotin which is for hair and nails, take that. Any multi vitamin will do, mine are gummy fruit flavor but there are ones out there specifically for bariatric patients, just google them. But biotin is for your hair. I'm down 45 lbs since June. Not quite as good as you! but I will get there. Also make sure you are getting your protein in daily. Good luck.
