    weird random pain

Oh my goodness, that has to be scary for you! Your so far out from surgery too... 11 weeks? I thought the possibility of leaks happening ended within around 3 or 4 weeks, not almost three months? Well, anyway, I'll be praying for you and wish you the best of luck... hopefully, it has closed up on it's own and the antibiotics will be just a precaution.... Please keep us updated on your progress, we're here for you Chikadee...

Should this still hurt this much?

OMG.. I was so relieved when the nurse took out that blasted drain! I was so thankful that I didn't have to take it home with me! At least half of my post-op pain went away as soon as they pulled the darn drain!! I'm glad your feeling better... it all gets better from here! (or so they say, )
  3. Only two weeks out and I'm tired of constantly eating and drinking!

    Itching has started

Wow, I was sleeved on the 5th, so that's ALmost two weeks out, the glue has come off of all my incisions except for the big one on the left side & the scab is still on the wound from the drain... otherwise the rest are healed up completely... they itched like a son of a gun for a while, about a week out and since then they've been okay...I was also told not to put anything on the sites until they are 100% healed... good luck!
  5. Yay! I weigh less than my hubby!!!!

  6. Hey everybody, I was sleeved a week ago and have a quick question for all you experts out there... My lower left incision hurts like a SOB... in fact, I've been taking my Lortab religiously because of it! At my post-op follow up yesterday I told the doctor about it and he told me that that incision will probably hurt more than any of the others because they have to separate the muscle more there to make room to remove the stomach that they cut away and also told me that I should be at LEAST alternating liquid tylenol with the lortab at this point... so I DID try that during the day, which didn't feel tooo bad, but it's around 3:45 AM now and I've been woken up by the pain in my tummy! Do you all think I'm just being wimpy? IDK, it worries me that after surgery I was so sick to my stomach I was wretching and felt like poo, maybe I tore some of the internal stiches? Oh, I hate waking up with something to obsess over! I'll call his office in the morning, but I Just wondered what you guys think.... Thanks.
  7. OMG... my F.I.L.'s funeral was today and the luncheon almost KILLED me! I wanted those roasted potatoes BAD!!!!

  8. Don't forget that the liquid you use to mix your protein shake counts towards your total fluid intake for the day... kinda like killin' two birds with one stone! Congrats and Good Luck!

Sleeved yesterday and just got home

((((((((HUGS))))))))) to you! I was in awful pain too for the first day and a half & I was extremely nauseous on top of it! I'm so glad you got the lortab in you & have started to get rid of the gas...the walking helps soooo much to get things moving again! Good luck on your sleeve and keep us updated! You sound like you've got everything under control now, very impressive for going home so soon after surgery! I'll keep you in my prayers! Happy healing!

YAY!! I get to go homwe

I agree with everybody else! It is sooooo much easier to get better at home! Even with three kids here I was able to sit comfortably on the couch and sip while watching a movie and walk every 20 mins or so... I'm so happy your not having any problems! Good Luck!

    Tomorrow is my big day!!!

Sweetdreams... YYYYYYEeeeeeaaaaahhhh for you! I'm sure everything is going to go just fine! Try not to stress tonight and get enough rest so that you're feeling good in the am! Take a long warm bubble bath and relax in the tub for a while, shave your legs (or whatever) and just do all the things you won't feel like doing for the next week or so... From my personal experience, I can tell you that even if you MIGHT feel like death warmed over for the first few days, you gotta walk and you gotta sip, and use that stupid spirometer thingy to exercise your lungs! After the third or fourth day things started falling into place nicely and now I only have a few little things bothering me! But then again, you might have a picture perfect experience, and that is what I'll be praying that you have!!! Good Luck!!

    Hardest thing now for me...

Carmen, I toooootallly get it! I am always babysitting and doing little favors for other people, but when I need it... it's like pulling teeth! Oh well, things will work out in the end... if you lived by me, I'd baby sit for you! Good Luck with everything!

    Follow up tomorrow

That is awesome Mike! I totally get the whole forgetting how awful the first few days were (the same way that us ladies have more than one child!) I'm feeling sooooo much better this week. Besides the lower left incision hurting like crazy sometimes. Have you been exercising? I've had some issues in that department due to family issues and the lack of babysitters... I told my dear hubby I'm not allowed to PUSH the stroller! LOL.. But starting next Monday things will be better and I'll be walking every evening like I planned in the beginning.... Congrats again!!!
  14. I'm just plain giddy! I started the 'full-liquid' diet today w/ 3ozs of Cream of Mushroom soup... THREE OUNCES & I'm really, really FULL!!! hee hee hee

    NO MORE PLUS SIZES

What an awesome feeling that must be! Congrats to you! Before you know it, you'll be in the single digits on top of it!!!! I can't wait till I"m in that situation! CAN'T FREEAAAKKKIN' WAIT! Congrats Again!!
  16. Thanks everyone! I appreciate your replies so much! This website is such a Godsend! It's nice to know that I'm not the only one to experience this crappy pain! If it weren't for that one spot, I'd be feeling so much better today! Thanks again everyone!

    Oh My HAIR!!!

YIKES.. I'm PRAYING that this will be one of the side affects that I will miss out on!!! I don't have much going for me right now besides nice hair! I <3 Krista's comment though about being HOT bald women! Maybe we'll have to start a club? I hope you stop losing hair really soon and when it grows back it will make Fabio jealous! Oh, and just a FYI on the Nioxin shampoo... I'm in MI and we have a store that I think is 'Industry Source' where they sell all the salon hair care products.. they had the NIOXIN liters (shampoo & conditioner together) for $60.. I picked some up for my mom who has used this brand for like forever... she was so excited about it being so 'cheap'... IDK, I hope that helps some peeps! Good Luck

    Stomach Flu

I'm so sorry to hear you're sick! I don't have any recommendations, as I was only sleeved a week ago... but I can imagine your discomfort! I would guess your major concern would be to stay hydrated though.. and to keep your electrolytes up.. maybe you could try the pedialite popcicles? and of course, jello? Good Luck to you & I'll say a prayer for a quick recovery!
  19. I was told by my surgeon's office that I was no longer able to take capsules of any kind, for any reason! Which kinda pissed me off, because my insurance will ONLY cover Prilosec in capsule form, so I've been having to buy the tables OTC for mucho $$... I guess it's just one more thing that varies between surgeons.... bummer for me... I hope you end up getting your medicine somehow and I hope and pray it isn't too nasty! That sucks so bad Good Luck!

    Snarl...growl...

That is a really good idea Fern! I'm going to talk about that with my hubby when he gets home from work. I'm constantly on him & the kids lately, sometimes I know I go overboard slightly, but my goodness..... I just can't seem to help myself! I'm only a week out from surgery, so I'm not sure if it is the pain in my left side still, or hormones, or whatever... but I also tend to swear more when I'm in pain and in a bad mood... I've dropped more 'f' bombs in the last week than I have in the last 30 years! I gotta try something soon.... I hope your suggestion will work for us ;0) Thanks again!

    Thoughts on Surgery Today

I'm saying a prayer for you Bryn! Good Luck (although I'm sure you won't need it!). See you (well talk to you) on the other side!!

    I'm home...

Well my friends, it wasn't/ isn't as easy as I thought it would be! Before surgery as I was on the gurney waiting to be wheeled into surgery I had a major anxiety attack.. sweating, I got clausterphobic an HAD to go to the bathroom soooooo bad! I was one hot mess I tell you! Anyway, I did make it to the O.R. and got all prepped on the table, According to the surgeon, the operation was a complete sucess and was pretty much textbook.... But then the real "FUN" started.. I woke up sooooooo sick to my stomach and in sooooo much pain! I ended up dry heaving for a few minutes and they administered every type of ani-nausea meds they had available.. It took a while for them to get thins under control, but when they did I had a pretty peaceful night (as peaceful as it can be in the hospital).. I woke up the day after feeling GREAT, but then around 12pm I started getting major nausea again so I got some more meds and took a nap. Woke up and started trying to drink again & got sick AGAIN! Finally they decided to stop the narcotic pain relievers and that helped a ton, but then I only got toradol and could only have it 6-8 hours apart! Anyway, then I couldn't sleep that night to save my life so I was up at 3am, sipping every 15 , walking, and doing whatever I could so that I could go home that night. Well, the doctor wasn't sure if he was going to discharge me or make me wait one more day so I wouldn't get nauseous and dehydrated again. But I talked him into letting me go (Finally @5:00!!!) So I half slept sitting up on the couch and half laying on the couch... I'm soooo tiered and my kids are driving me crazy! REALLY crazy!! Well, I hope the rest of our Firecrackers have better experiences than I did.
  24. Okay, so grocery shopping yesterday wasn't one of my best ideas! So sore this morning ;0(

  25. Doing a little better today... didn't need extra pain meds last night after taking my 12am dose before bed.. made it to 8am... it's a start I guess ;0)
