  1. Congrats Marina! Drink, drink, drink!
  2. Thanks so much Valerie, LadyIvy and Indymom! I really appreciate the feedback! It is a lifestyle change! I didn't ever think that I could change from regular coke to diet coke. Now, I can't drink regular coke! I know that I can make the commitment! I just need to get my mind in gear and make the change!
  3. My center gave me a template to have the primary doctor to go by. I'm sure that made it much easier.
  4. Congrats and good luck to both of you!
  5. I didn't start this thread but gosh, it's helped me to read everyone's insights! Thanks for the great discussion!
  6. I agree that you should go ahead and let them know. I would also recommend filing for FMLA for your protection due to the medical leave. Check with your HR dept. on the steps that you need to take for that. Good luck!
  7. Sending special thoughts your way! I can't wait to hear how everything is going!
  8. So sorry to hear that you are not feeling well! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
  9. Not sure what your first consultation is referring to. My first step in the process was to attend the educational seminar. They went over each surgery- pros and cons etc! Good luck with your visit!
  10. Hang in there and follow the doctor's orders! I'm new on here but I see that you've got lots of support from this group! Take care! Sending good thoughts your way and wishing you a speedy recovery!
  11. Awesome! Keep us posted! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
  12. Maymay, I understand exactly what you are saying. I'm still going through the approval process. Some days, I'm so excited thinking about how healthy I will be, how much energy I will have and of course the new look! I think we just need to stay positive and know that we are doing this to take care of ourselves! I'm jealous that you only have 2 weeks! . Keep us posted and I know that you will do great!
  13. Valerie, I am a big diet coke drinker! It is definitely going to be hard to give that up but I understand that the carbonated drinks are a no-no! . I'm scheduled for the visit with the nutritional lady on Monday! . Thanks for the feedback! I love this site! I'm learning so much and everyone is so supportive!
  14. What an inspiration to everyone, especially us beginners! You look beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
  15. Thanks Rick and Lisa!
  16. You ladies are such an inspiration to us girls going through the approval process! Congrats! You all look amazing!
  17. Thanks for the feedback!
  18. Awesome! Congrats on your loss!
  19. Hi, I'm new to the site and going through the approval process to get sleeved. I was originally planning to get the lap band but after lurking on this site, I believe the sleeve is the right option for me. I understand why you can't drink beverages at the same time with the band since it would just wash through but why can't you with the sleeve? Appreciate any feedback!
  20. Hi Denise, my name is Liz, aka Houston17. I'm also hoping to get the lap band. I've just started this process. I actually attended an education seminar at the Bariatric Center last Friday. During the seminar, they explain all of the different surgeries, go through the pros and cons of each as well as cover other info on what to expect. There are several steps that this Center requires to go through the process. I went to a support group meeting at the center on Tuesday night and today I went to a group meeting with the dietician. I'm scheduled in the morning to see the nurse/manager of the program. I'm not really sure what to expect with that visit. I've started this journey a little in the reverse of what you are doing. I have an appointment with my primary doctor next week. I've never talked to him about this and I have no idea if he will be supportive or not. I've only been going to him for the last 5 years due to relocating. So, I'm excited and nervous about getting through each step! Good luck with your visit! Btw, I just joined this site today and this is my first post!
