You are doing a lot better than I am on Day 4. I'm just sticking to water after my earlier incident today with protein. It was my first try and it came back up and made me feel yucky. I may try some thinned out grits tomorrow since its on my diet. I don't think that I like cream of wheat. I've also got to check into the clear liquid protein. I had no issues pre- op with the protein shakes! Good luck with every thing!

Yaya, you are so lucky! . Recovery has been the pits for me! This too shall pass.... In my case, hopefully sooner rather than later! -
MrChris, you "guys" must be stronger than the girls! Lol. Glad it went really well for you!

If you have a sonic, I recommend getting a bag of their ice. My crushed ice tasted funny after the surgery. This has really helped me with my water. -
When does it get eaiser
Houston17 replied to angel_23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Toy, r u taking your pain meds around the clock or just at bedtime. I'm having to take mine around the clock. I get this weird nauseousness feeling, hot flash type thing right before its time to take more pain medicine. They tried to give me a med for just nausea but that doesn't stop it. Just wondering if I'm the only one having to take this much pain medicine. -
Hi Patsy, I believe that you will get a wide range of answers to this question. I'm on day 4 and I've seen some posts where people go back this early. From my experience, I'm not one of those lucky ones! I'm planning 2 weeks but wondering if that will be enough for me!

Surgery on Wednesday. Discharged on Thursday. I'm finding recovery to be a little difficult. You will probably need help with your kids.

Thanks guys! I feel better reading all of your post and knowing that I'm not alone. Boy, this is hard! I can't wait for this to just be a memory!

I feel terrible on day 4. I can't get comfortable. Trouble getting protein in. Feeling hot but don't have a fever. Nauseousness comes and goes. Am I the only whiny baby? Seems like every one does so well.

When does it get eaiser
Houston17 replied to angel_23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Angel, I was sleeved on 4/10 also. R u able to get in protein drinks? I'm doing ok on water but I need some calories. I'm having trouble with sweetness. -
Hey Angie. I'm one day behind you. Stayed overnight at the hospital and was discharged the next day. As long as I'm taking the pain meds, I'm pretty good. But, if the med wears off, then I get this overwhelming nauseousness. Sore getting up and down around the incision areas. Also, haven't tried any protein yet. I'll try that tomorrow. Getting all my clear liquids in has been a challenge but I'm keeping at it. I'm still bloated and haven't gone back to my morning of surgery weight yet. Every hour gets better. I don't have a tube but I can imagine that you are very excited to get that out!

Love reading both your post. Definitely something for me to look forward to! -
Joan, I'm interested to know how things are going for you. I'm 5 days behind you. This is definitely not easy for me.

Anyone w/ a BMI under 40 and self pay?
Houston17 replied to Linkin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Linkin, I'm just 3 days out but we are similar with our Bmi. I couldn't get it covered through insurance and I also couldn't go the Mexico route. My surgery is costing $20k. I justified in my mind by thinking that I've worked hard all my life. I want to at some point retire and travel. However, with the weight and bad family medical history, I was concerned that I wouldn't be around to do the things that I want. Good Luck with your decision! -

Houston17 replied to dynamitetee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Journey girl, so glad that u shared when most see a drop. I'm day 3 and I'm still up from the fluids at the hospital. Thanks! -
Thanks nightingale, maybe that's what I'm seeing.
-
I'm having trouble getting all my liquids in on day 3. And, I've been really nauseated. Doctors office just gave me a prescription for it. Any advice? Thanks
-
I don't have a drain incision but I am curious about your other incisions. I had my surgery Wed so I'm day 3. My stomach is still very swollen and my incisions are ugly. Did u guys feel the same? Are they healing nicely?

I had my surgery on Wednesday. Came home yesterday and surgeon said I could start my normal meds back. I took my 75 milligram Effexor and my body felt like it was on fire. Not sure if there are new nerves or something with our new stomach or what. Not sure if that makes sense or not. I have a call into my primary care doctor. Anyone else have trouble with anti depressants after surgery?

Anti- depressants after Sleeve?
Houston17 replied to Houston17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really didn't miss a dose. I took it the day of surgery and then yesterday. ( the day that I felt like I was on fire ). I haven't taken it yet today. Waiting to hear from the doctor's office. I really don't want to go through another day like I had yesterday. . Good to know the Effexor didn't bother you. Not sure what is going on with me. I'm having a lot of nauseous today until I took the pain medication. Now I feel fine. Just having a little trouble adjusting. -
Yoli and Chelle, I hope that we all get some sleep tonight! We've got a big day ahead of us tomorrow. Sweet dreams everyone!

Looks delish and healthy! Can't wait to get to the stage to have this! Yum!
